She's 31 and until she met this new girl she never took drugs.
Now every time she goes out with her she takes Coke.
Every 30 minutes going to the toilet taking more.
I'm starting to dislike her because of it,I know that sounds awful but she's always jumping around after it,sweating, sniffing, bleeding nose and I just think she's Pathetic.
Both 31,she has 3 kids and I think your a mother and doing that.
I love a night out, cocktails etc but I'm honestly thinking of ending our friendship.
What's your opinions?

LinoleumBlownapart

That is exactly the point. People think alcohol is safe and socially acceptable because it's legal, and other harmful drugs are unsafe because they aren't legal, but that is nothing to do with the actual substances themselves, it's because of the hypocritical acceptance people have to legal drugs whilst thinking that drugs which are argubly much less harmful than booze are bad, m'kay, and the fact that the "war" against drugs was lost decades ago.

Besides which, the OP was hardly raising an ethical point. To condemn someone for taking coke whilst necking cocktails is laughably hypocritical.

MrsTerryPratchett · 24/07/2017 21:10

Thanks to everyone who didn't wish my child into non-existence for my opinion. Hmm

I wish it were possible to have a reasonable discussion about drug and alcohol abuse. We need more treatment options, less legal sledgehammer and less use of drugs as a solution to problems. Including nasty prescription drugs. We also need people to see it as a symptom, not the problem. The problem is often abuse, neglect, bereavement and loss.

OP, your friend seems like she has a problem. Maybe think of how you could help her, rather than enable her. Tell her you are concerned, when she's straight. And don't call her pathetic.

I really can't understand how people try and compare 2 cocktails every month or two ...too line after line of Coke...the mind boggles

@MrsTerryPratchett Great post, completely agree.

Ashkey234 · 24/07/2017 21:23

honeydragon- so if your child came home and said either "il have a glass of wine" or "il have a line of Coke" which would you be happy for them to take?

HoneyDragon · 24/07/2017 21:24

You weren't claiming that in your op, you were claiming your drug made you morally superior.

8 cocktails is worse than 1 line of Coke then? Confused

HoneyDragon · 24/07/2017 21:25

Hang on I'll go and ask him.

Ashkey234 · 24/07/2017 21:25

Who drinks 8 cocktails tho?
And yes 2 drinks isn't the same as line after line of Coke (when you don't have a clue what it is )
How can you try and compare?

@BossaDad, it was Rat Park a Canadian experiment.

HoneyDragon · 24/07/2017 21:28

The fourteen year old said neither, they're both drugs. As would I as I think they're both shit.

He also asked what "il" means. I explained it's a degenerative symptom of long term alcohol abuse because every day is a school day

HoneyDragon · 24/07/2017 21:29

Who drinks 8 cocktails tho?

Drug dependent people?

MrsTerryPratchett · 24/07/2017 21:29

Hang on I'll go and ask him. Grin

Ashkey234 · 24/07/2017 21:29

If you actually read what I said I asked which you would prefer your child to take?
1 glass of wine or 1 line of Coke?

With all of your support for Coke usage I'm sure you will be very happy and supportive if your child develops a habit then ...

I'm just not sure why you'd risk your life for the sake of a "good night" which half the time isn't even that good!

How do you know it is that even that good? Sounds like you've done it yourself.

somewheresomehow · 24/07/2017 21:31

if you fancy a bit of coke its now being cut with deworming powder

Most people get really defensive when called out on their addiction.

Most people in the U.K. (Especially white middle class professionals) are addicted to alcohol. They habitually drink it with dinner. They have a glasto relax once the kids are in be done. They have s G&T to get themselves in the mood for a night out. They catch up with a friend over a bottle of Pinot Grigio.

But hey, it makes you feel superior to look down on other people taking other drugs you consider less cool.

Like the MDMA lover looks down on someone taking heroin. And the guy smoking heroine looks down on someone injecting it.

HoneyDragon · 24/07/2017 21:32

Well neither as I DON'T DO DRUGS UNLIKE YOU, YOU APPARENTLY ILLITERATE BELLEND WHO WOULDN'T SEE A POINT EVEN IF IT WAS STUCK IN YOUR EYE.

Ashkey234 · 24/07/2017 21:33

You clearly can't answer a simple question because you would obviously choose your child to drink a legalised glass of wine rather than a illegal drug cut with God knows what...you couldn't admit that obviously as you've been so pro drugs!

HipsterHunter · 24/07/2017 21:33

Also the younger generation are the first ones to be drinking less than us millennial. Bloody good on them.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 24/07/2017 21:35

Turns out my 14 doesnt know why there would be a problem with having a pepsi Confused

So i win in the moral superiority stakes as he doesn't even know what coke is
