To think it's pathetic to take drugs on a night out ...

Ashkey234 · 24/07/2017 16:10

She's 31 and until she met this new girl she never took drugs.
Now every time she goes out with her she takes Coke.
Every 30 minutes going to the toilet taking more.
I'm starting to dislike her because of it,I know that sounds awful but she's always jumping around after it,sweating, sniffing, bleeding nose and I just think she's Pathetic.
Both 31,she has 3 kids and I think your a mother and doing that.
I love a night out, cocktails etc but I'm honestly thinking of ending our friendship.
What's your opinions?

Hipsterhunter ugh @ silly sausage. Ridiculous comment and point.

Astella22 · 24/07/2017 17:51

Nothing wrong with alcohol or recreational drugs in moderation, the problem with drugs is u don't exactly know what your getting. Coke itself wont kill you but dealers cut it with some nasty sh*t to make more money. So much mis information out there about drugs though which is why people take risks they don't know what to believe. The war on drugs is an absolute failure and only serves to penalises the poorest in society.

HattiesBackpack · 24/07/2017 17:56

OhhBetty

If judging people who buy into the cocaine supply chain makes me a 'cunt' in your eyes then I'm ok with that.

What are your thoughts on the consequences of the cocaine supply chain?

Miffer · 24/07/2017 18:00

The mental gymnastics people use to demonise drugs whilst normalising alcohol are quite impressive.

What are your thoughts on mobile phone supply chains?

I mean really. This could go on a while.

Ashkey234 · 24/07/2017 18:01

Hipster-you can't seem to grasp the difference between drinking a legal cocktail from a class and sniffing a illegal drug from a toilet seat which could possibly cause a heart attack /overdose
Until you recognise the difference it's pretty pointless trying to have a sensible intellectual conversation

why would you want to stick something up your nose thats probably come out of somebodys arse, and the effects may last about the same amount of time

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 24/07/2017 18:05

If its no fun going out with your drugged up friend then dont go out with her

Whatever the drug of choice is

MrsTerryPratchett · 24/07/2017 18:06

I worked in a rehab. And with people in recovery. And offenders. And homeless people. For decades. I'm willing to bet I know slightly more than you about it.

Am I allowed an opinion?

Snorting coke might kill you the first time. Drinking might too and it is physically addictive as well.

MrsTerryPratchett · 24/07/2017 18:08

And do people snort coke from toilet seats? Isn't it usually the cistern or a make up compact?

Arguments about the supply chain and quality of illegal drugs are totally valid BTW. But that's the war on drugs rather than the drugs themselves.

Hapaxlegomenon · 24/07/2017 18:08

Miffer the mental gymnastics seems to be coming from people comparing legal cocktails (and even caffeine!!) to illegal class A drugs.

Miffer · 24/07/2017 18:12

Hapaxlegomenon

Why cocktails? I like how you frame your comparison as prettily as you can. It's almost as if you are being disingenuous.

Decaffstilltastesweird · 24/07/2017 18:18

I agree with this^^. I have no problem with the drug itself except it frequently makes people who take it behave like assholes ime - more so than booze. It is a problem because it's illegal. And not because I have some simple "legal = good, illegal = bad" viewpoint, but for all the reasons I and others have already mentioned.

There's no use saying "I'll take it because I like it and I think it should be legal" though. Because it isn't legal, and isn't likely to be any time soon. You aren't buying a legitimate product and you are contributing to an industry which has devastating consequences for many people along the supply line.

Certain states in the USA and some European counties have successfully legalised cannabis now (I think)? But I don't see it happening here any time soon.

Hapaxlegomenon · 24/07/2017 18:22

Miffer I'm saying cocktails because the OP said a couple of cocktails. That's where the comparisons started.

JenziW · 24/07/2017 18:26

YANBU. Yes it's pathetic. No need for drugs. (Have not rtft.)

HoneyDragon · 24/07/2017 18:29

alltouchedout, I noticed too, as Sparkling says the op certainly does seem to have a lot going on. Certainly in July.

Bitchfromhell · 24/07/2017 18:43

Interesting that posters seem to be separating using coke and alcohol. Both of the coke users I know use it to enable them to drink more. It seems to somehow negate the drunkenness and allow them to drink even more heavily.
Both of these people have mental health issues, are addicts and, imho opinion, are functioning alcoholics. I certainly wouldn't waste a night out in their company but I also wouldn't view them as "pathetic cunts" as people on here have suggested.
In my view they are both in need of support and friendship. They use drugs because they can't not use drugs.

The person the op writes about might be different but I doubt it. No self respecting person takes line after line because they are happy and filled with self confidence.

user1492877024 · 24/07/2017 18:43

alcohol Legal

Coke illegal. It really aint rocket science. All you "right on" posters, I really hope you don't have children.

BabychamSocialist · 24/07/2017 18:47

Well I did smoke a bit of weed when I was a student and it wasn't for me, so I never touched them again. If other people want to, that's up to them, but I do think it's irresponsible for a parent to be doing it.

MrsTerryPratchett · 24/07/2017 18:47

Until very recently rape in marriage was legal and consensual gay sex was illegal. Only very silly people think legal = right and illegal = wrong.

NachoAddict · 24/07/2017 18:49

Just want to point out that social services will do precisely fuck all about someone being reported for taking cocaine on a night out, even on a regular basis.
They didn't even do anything about a close relative taking cocaine in the house alone with her child in a daily basis.

Oblomov17 · 24/07/2017 18:49

I think OP is completely over-reacting. You keep mentioning over-dosing. On Coke? How many lines do you think that takes? One? Two? Three? Ten? Twenty? More?

And your friend sounds like she is out of control and if it wasn't Coke it would be speed/vodka/gambling something else.

I think the problem lies elsewhere. Some people always want more of everything and it's very telling that she gets cross when she runs out.

Not everyone is like this. Some people can stop after one or two drinks/ one or two lines/one or two whatever's. others can't.

Oblomov17 · 24/07/2017 18:52

"could possibly cause a heart attack /overdose"

How realistic do you think that is? Do you have any statistics of .....

People taking one line of Coke and dying. leaving their children without a parent?
