Background-
Group of friends, all couples, friends for about 4/5 years. DH and I got married last year and this particular couple came. Earlier this year, all couples together watching films and the song that came on when the credits rolled so DH and I decided to recreate our dance after a few drinks. A few days later female friend said to me that that was actually the wedding song they have planned, they had completely forgotten we had used it at our wedding (how could they?! Our dancing was amazing, lol) and did I mind? Of course I said no, it's a song, who has ownership of a song etc.
Fast forward to their wedding this weekend, and they used said song, but also had exactly the same dance routine. I mean, everything identical (we went to lessons and learnt it). Isn't that a bit weird? Like less than 12months later they're doing the same dance routine to the same song? Even if they went to lessons to learn it (but they say they haven't had lessons) then they could ask for a different routine ?
I know you can't have ownership of a song (or a dance) but AIBU to expect that you at least do your own version? Mutual friends attending both weddings so if they care (probably don't) it would be pretty obvious.

My BIL and SIL had an owl deliver their rings

I now have this magical image of them struggling to wrestle the rings from the talons of the raptor - blood and skin all over the walls of the church; lots of furious hooting; pigeons cheering from the bell tower every time the owl takes a hit; choristers running for cover; the bride, veil askew, lashing at the owl with her stiletto; groom doing Really Bad Swears in front of an infant flower girl . . .

This is too funny for words

MumBod · 24/07/2017 15:41

TSSDNCOP were you at my wedding?

I had a wispy empire line frock and a ceilidh!

Man, that was a good wedding. Shit marriage, but a good wedding.

MumBod · 24/07/2017 15:44

Saturday Night by Whigfield?

Algebraic · 24/07/2017 16:11

@SchadenfreudePersonified truly wonderful image you have painted there! GrinGrin I wish. Unfortunately it was a little less exciting. It was a surprise organised by the best man so he was very red faced whilst the owl man coaxed lightly swore at it down. It was then revealed they were stage rings so the wedding could indeed go ahead. The owl just chilled in the rafters flipping the V.

I know someone who had an owl bring the rings. It had to be tempted with a dead baby chick after about 5 minutes of completely ignoring its handler.🐣

GirlOnATrainToShite · 24/07/2017 16:22

Who are these people? Shock

AhhhhThatsBass · 24/07/2017 16:23

It's not worth getting upset about. Be flattered and let it go.

Algebraic · 24/07/2017 16:26

I wanted to do a lip sync battle and karaoke sesh Grin DH said no.

SummerMummy88 · 24/07/2017 16:27

I'd be annoyed too, yes it is just a song but there's a million other different songs they could of picked never mind dance routines. My brother and sister In law used the same poem that I had at my wedding and that annoyed me so I understand x

NotForSale · 24/07/2017 16:32

It categorically wasn't dirty dancing LOL but it was from a film that meant a lot to us. I don't feel I have the right to a song (as stated already) nor a dance (also as stated) but this is with a close group of friends where we do everything together. Including having the same wedding song and dance it seems! Anyhow, I will take it as a compliment as many have suggested :)
