That men on mumsnet seem to have. And why people never just state them. "His hobby" sounds so pervy

AllThatGlistensIs · 23/07/2017 20:18

Ahhhh.. it must be Cod, the is out! Grin

Toomanyclothes2017 · 23/07/2017 20:29

I don't get the issue with hobbies.

DH and I both have hobbies (including cycling).

Our friends and families all have hobbies (including people with kids).
The hobbies including cycling, mountain biking, climbing, running, triathlon, sewing, craft, crochet, kayaking, horse riding, tennis, DJing, painting/art, fishing, golf, boxing, dance, computing/gaming, watching live sport, gardening, building cars ......

I really struggle to think of anyone I know who doesn't have a hobby.

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 23/07/2017 20:38

Fucking cycling

Lycra clad arseholes all
Of them Envy

GrumpyOldBag · 23/07/2017 20:52

Is this Cod's only thread since, like, 5 years ago, or are there others from today/recently?

Apart from the lack of typos, the tone of voice is very much the same....

Persemillion · 23/07/2017 20:52

WomblingThree

OP are you drunk? Your posts are slightly incoherent

If is the same cod incoherence is more than expected.

missiondecision · 23/07/2017 21:05

Can someone enlighten the in-enlightened who the fuck is cod? Please.

BabychamSocialist · 23/07/2017 21:07

I've never met a cyclist I like.

They all seem to think they're Bradley Wiggins in their tight lycra with their shit 'racing' bikes careering all over the road.

Arseholes.

WeyHay · 23/07/2017 21:17

If it's anything like the rural roads around here, they're all cycling MAMILs

Middle Aged Men in Lycra.

They travel in packs and can be very annoying.

KeiraKnightleyActsWithHerTeeth · 23/07/2017 21:23

Yes who the fuck is cod?
Are we talking old school cliques?

Vanillamanilla1 · 23/07/2017 21:37

Cod is THE wisdom of MN . Old school circa a decade or so ago
Says what she means and means what she says
spelling has improved tho Wink
The best threads had Cods humour in them . The M&S gum chewing member of staff was hilarious
Cod is so random that's why she's adored here
I'm glad she's back Smile
Altho tbf she never went just pulled up a chair in S&B and name changed
But I never hang out in those parts im not stylish enough

Trills · 23/07/2017 21:38

Alice, Alice, who the fuck is Alice?

Vanillamanilla1 · 23/07/2017 21:38

I deffo know its her as the gavel has come along with her

Vanillamanilla1 · 23/07/2017 21:40

Don't scare her off tho .. I have missed her altho bizarelly never spoke to her
It's the style of writing , no one has replicated that

NikiBabe · 23/07/2017 21:42

Yiffing as a hobby?

MaisyPops · 23/07/2017 21:45

People will say hobby if they've put info out there and they post regularly enough that somebody could identify them.
I have friends who do adult gymnastics, trampolining, pole dancing, table top war games, white water kayaking, triathlon, marathon running, white collar boxing for charity, big band ensembles, playing in a folk band, going to the gym, choirs, amateur dramatics. If they've mentioned their region and job (plus how many kods they have and ages) then some of those hobbies are niche enough that someone could work out who they are, hence vague hobbies.

Nothinglikeanotter · 23/07/2017 21:54

My DH once said when I was whinging about being too busy to do stuff 'BUT COOKING IS YOUR HOBBY'. So I got my hobby frying pan out and smacked him hard in the face with it.

Nothinglikeanotter · 23/07/2017 21:54

And I once worked with a man who made his own chainmail.

OSETmum · 23/07/2017 23:23

It's always bloody cycling on here! Dh recently suggested taking up cycling (well rather buying an expensive bike and all the gear as I suspect that's as far as it will go!)

His actual hobby (and mine and ds's) is trials motorbike riding.

Vanillamanilla1 · 23/07/2017 23:27

I cycled once at centre parcs .. Horrific experience , felt like id been fisted
Took the bike back after 20 minutes and couldn't walk properly for 3 days ,
Dh and dd cycle regularly and love it

IckleWicklePumperNickle · 23/07/2017 23:32

Ditto RadioGaGoo shooting here too. Competitions and training all the time.

squishysquirmy · 23/07/2017 23:36

Read this thread, and realised the mumsnet is probably my hobby.

JumpingJellybeanz · 23/07/2017 23:39

I say hobby because I don't have a bloody clue what it is. Electronic, roboty, radio nerd shit with a group of other like minded weirdos. They even have their own club house/shed out in the forest.

Emboo19 · 23/07/2017 23:58

I don't think I ever used the word 'hobby' before I came on mumsnet.
I think I've read it too much on this thread, that it doesn't sound right in my head now!

My boyfriends in a band and he plays and coaches football.
I dance, ballet and tap.
We both go to the gym or for a run if and when we can (bf occasionally goes mountain biking with friends, no Lycra involved!) Don't really think of those as hobbies though.

SomewhatIdiosyncratic · 23/07/2017 23:59

My hobby is running.
Sometimes I do races.
Sometimes I train for races.
Sometimes I fanny about aimlessly. I'm in one of those phases at the moment.
Running is best done in loud leggings. Joggers do not wear loud leggings.

DH's hobby is sleeping. It is boring as a spectator sport. I use it as an opportunity to sneak out and run Grin
