That men on mumsnet seem to have. And why people never just state them. "His hobby" sounds so pervy

My DH changes hobby once or twice a year (he's definitely on the spectrum and once he gets interested in something he has to master it completely - then he drops it and moves on!). Photography was one - that was expensive, cars at one point (stereo systems etc), currently it's magic.

It keeps him happy but it costs a fair bit which is annoying when it gets dumped after 6 months and we can't get back anywhere near what we paid from selling it. Luckily he now earns very well so we can cover it - was not the case 10 years ago when we were broke!

My DH's hobby is officially cycling, but in reality his hobby is buying expensive stuff for his bike, faffing about on strava and moaning about how everyone else has a better bike than him. He also spends huge amounts of time planning his annual trip to France so he can cycle up a few mountains.
I run and go to the gym but don't class it as a hobby as it doesn't take over my life!

To be honest I mostly assume it's football or rugby. It ticks all the boxes, especially if they play and watch it.

Playing I assume usually involves some kind of fees for hiring somewhere to play since these guys aren't exactly going to be premiere league standards. It can also involve travel to away games. Likewise season tickets for sports are stupidly expensive, as are replica shirts each season and all the other crap that goes with it. Away game costs can be ridiculous with ticket costs and travel.
