I did this at the start of the year. It was bloody hard but worth it. My coke habit has destroyed my teeth and left me feeling awful.

I replaced it with herbal teas, water with slices of fruit and chai tea. I found strong flavours helped.

Good luck.

Can't join in as I did it a few years ago - I had a diet coke habit that was making me jittery and costing me a fortune.

The first couple of days were horrible but after that it's fine, honestly. I drank carbonated mineral water with a dash of fruit juice for a while so I was still getting the fizz, and then switched to plain water (I still drink too much carbonated mineral water but at least I'm not getting the sugars, sweeteners or caffeine.)

I had a diet coke with a meal out recently and realised I don't even like it much. It had just become a habit.

Good luck!

Well, I misunderstood the title of this thread completely.

I did this last week. I had a massive Diet Coke/Pepsi max addiction and was spending a fortune on the stuff. 1st couple of days were hard but I don't miss it at all now. You can do it!

CockroachLady · 20/07/2017 08:30

Oh THAT coke..

user1471426611 · 20/07/2017 08:32

I gave up 4 years ago and it was so hard. I craved it all the time for a few weeks. It took 2 years before I didn't want one at all and was quite happy without. I don't drink tea or coffee so couldn't get caffeine from anywhere else either. However I certainly feel better without it.

londonrach · 20/07/2017 08:34

Think i need to do this. Got me through the pregnancy. How do you stop as on a hot summer day nothing beats a glass!!!

londonrach · 20/07/2017 08:35

Hippo..you really dont miss it

londonrach · 20/07/2017 08:36

User...same no hot drinks

GrumpySmall · 20/07/2017 08:41

I'll join you Mushy. How much do you currently drink? Diet or full fat?

My usual is Pepsi Max. I've been on two cans a day for years. We are on holiday at the moment and I've managed to bring it down to one can. But need to maintain or reduce when we get back, rather than go back up to 1 can.

What are you planning to drink instead? I'm trying water but it's a bit of a struggle as I don't really like it. I like tea but ideally normal caffeinated tea...

rainbowduck · 20/07/2017 08:48

I did this last month. All we have in our house to drink now is water, milk, tea and coffee. (Obv wine/beer at the weekend). It's hard in the beginning, I had lots of headaches but gets easier rather quickly.

Good luck!

rainbowduck · 20/07/2017 08:49

To make my water a little more exciting, I have been freezing water bottles with a little water in the bottom. Then when I fill them up, the water is ice cold rather quickly.

Works for me...

stevie69 · 20/07/2017 08:53

Well, I misunderstood the title of this thread completely.

So did I Grin

Caenea · 20/07/2017 08:54

I've done it about five times...

You will feel like RUBBISH for the first few days. One of my friends actually said I looked like I was withdrawing - and I suppose I was, from the caffeine and the sweeteners. I substituted it for drinking gallons of water because that made me feel more "full".

Honestly, your skin will look amazing within about a week and you'll feel so much better...

MargaretTwatyer · 20/07/2017 08:54

Me too. It sounded a lot more fun from the title. I had my CD case, credit card and £20 note all ready.

TipTopTipTopClop · 20/07/2017 08:55

Oh THAT coke..

So disappointing. Wink

Consider a SodaStream - make your own fizzy water. A good compromise.

TipTopTipTopClop · 20/07/2017 08:56

£50 is better.

GirlOnATrainToShite · 20/07/2017 08:56

Oh Sad

MargaretTwatyer · 20/07/2017 08:58

Show off tiptop. Actually I am told that the new plasticky £5 notes are the dogs bollocks for that type of thing.

I can't imagine many people have CD cases lying around these days. I wonder what they use?

Tastesjustlikecherrycola85 · 20/07/2017 09:00

Know the feeling, without fail I have 2 red bulls and a can of coke daily. I don't know how I have any teeth left in my head Blush

GirlOnATrainToShite · 20/07/2017 09:01

Margaret a mirror. CD case is better for rolling spliffs.

Dailystuck71 · 20/07/2017 09:06

Totally got the wrong end of the stick here.

TipTopTipTopClop · 20/07/2017 09:11

My cokehead friend always circulated a dinner plate with lines of coke.

cantfindname · 20/07/2017 09:13

Frightening to think what is in the stuff that makes it so addictive. I gave up a few years ago and feel better for it, or rather without it! Friends BF gave up fizzy drinks and lost 5 stone without even trying.. mind he was a real addict, even having a large bottle by the bed in case he got thirsty in the night.

TipTopTipTopClop · 20/07/2017 09:13

Margaret a mirror.

This makes me think of Michelle Pheiffer in Scarface.

Use a mirror, and wear a Halston gown.
