Thank you Fontella

I also love grey paint and very dark colours
Vintage mirrors (must stop buying them)

LaurieFairyCake that collection is beautiful. I love drinking tea from proper cups and saucers! Do you use it or is it display only?

MaryLennoxsScowl · 18/07/2017 09:32

I like black and white with wood in a Scandi sort of style, and copper/brass - ruefully agree with the person on the other thread who said cheap copper ornaments are crap - the paint has started coming off some of my cheap h&m ones!

Also big fluffy white rugs, that one that's everywhere, wooden floors, sheepskins, cosy blankets, art from small galleries and illustrators not from next.

LaurieFairyCake · 18/07/2017 09:38

I do use but not everyday - it's very fine porcelain - so about 4 times a year. I had people over and used it then - and they complained as they 'prefer mugs for tea' Hmm

I am rather partial to hanging linen hearts..and I luffs a bit of shabby chic twee...I've even managed to achieve a double whammy of a twee hanging heart and a floral wreath thingy...

Very nice!

We love a few hanging hearts - love the stripped wood door too!

MaQueen · 18/07/2017 10:29

I love fairy lights...the DDs have them in their bedrooms and I have them in the kitchen. Soooo pretty.

We have off white carpet throughout. I never ask guests to remove their shoes, ever.

I love a bit of Laura Ashley.

I have a cream painted Shaker style kitchen with blue polka dot accents...so twee, but so pretty and fresh.

I love grey. I have always loved grey. Living room was painted in F&B Elephant's Breath 10 years ago, long before grey was a thing. Still love it now.

I have a hugely thick and soft, white bath mat which is Heaven to step on to.

I have faux wooden working tops...insisted on them - had real wood in previous house and hated having to be so precious with it.

We have tiled bathroom floors, but would dearly love some Amtico instead (warmer and softer).

KingJoffreysRestingCuntface · 18/07/2017 11:05

I have lots of those strings of chickens with bells.

Turkish rugs in bright colours
Coloured glass jars and bowls
Bookshelves
Vintage propaganda posters

M0stlyBowlingHedgehog · 18/07/2017 17:49

My red kitchen walls. It is a pokey little north-facing galley kitchen, which used to be painted lemon yellow, which somehow screamed "I am trying to hide the fact that I am dingy and dark and pokey from you, and failing hard." Now it embraces its north-facing-ness and is just lovely and cosy.

Beech kitchen cabinets - they are nice and warm coloured against my nice red walls.

Books, books, everywhere (some of them in IKEA-style birch bookcases).

Magnolia walls - they don't compete with the watercolours or swamp them.

Curtain tracks rather than poles (one of my friends told me my current tracks were the height of naffness - I personally hate curtain poles - and the fuckers let way too much light round the edges for use in a bedroom).

lots of love get coming in windows

Eek - I mean lots of light! (Though if love wants to come in my windows then that's fine too!) ❤️

SomewhatIdiosyncratic · 18/07/2017 21:33

Colour. Each room decorated with its own personality.
Carpet. Warm and soft.
Vinyl floors in rooms with water. Warm, soft, range of choices.
A sense that the room is personal and built up of things that the inhabitant loves, not bought up job lot from Dunelm/ The Range because its on trend.
A feeling that the place is lived in, not a show home. I'm generally untidy, as is one of my best friends. I'll spruce up if I know she's coming, but have no fear of her coming round with minimal notice and finding me in my natural habitat. On one such visit, she commented about feeling relaxed. I suggested that it was a familiar, comforting level of untidiness to her home, but with none of the guilt Grin

Giggorata · 18/07/2017 22:12

HipsterHunter · 18/07/2017 22:36

I've lots of massive plants too, and they have fairy lights wrapped round them,,

Me too - nothing quite as nice as the light from a fairy tree wrapped giant triffid plant!
