New thread so that we can await this afternoon's hearing at 1400 (UK time)

Let's try to keep this one as sensible and measured as the past 7 threads have been.

Please note the MNHQ comment on thread number 7.

"Hi everyone,

..... We had to remove several parent-blaming posts, so we'd like to ask folk not to do this. We think we can all agree that this is a truly awful time for all involved and we just wouldn't wish it on anyone. If there's anything we could do with more of, it's support. We'll continue to remove reported posts that break TGs (if we've missed something, do feel free to let us know).

If we have to make too many deletions, we will need to look at removing the thread; which is the last thing we wish to do.

Thanks all"

my feed has gone unless thyr not speaking

TheWeeWitch · 14/07/2017 14:54

Agree @stitchglitched

The parents are not in any fit state to contribute to such a discussion.

Lightlovelife · 14/07/2017 14:54

Figaro I suggest you do not go to the Charlie's Army Facebook page. Plenty of people put excerpts on here and it is not for the fainthearted.

muckypup73 · 14/07/2017 14:54

Holliewantstobehot, agreed.

Armstrong says Connie Yates has a great command of the technical issues. She's immersed herself in it and knows as much as anyone about this

Judge: my strong view at the moment is two-stage meeting is a good idea. First: experts talking in technical language. Then address parents.

Judge says his strong view that a 2 stage meeting would be a good idea. Parents could meet the clinicians and then docs could meet..*

OhUnpretentiousSpud · 14/07/2017 14:55

Sorry that copied awfully!

LapinR0se · 14/07/2017 14:55

For Pity's sake of course Connie Yates does not have as much technical knowledge as anyone in the UK. A ridiculous assertion

Yamayo · 14/07/2017 14:55

I mean GOSH ìs clearly being impeded. The parents are denying their claims re brain damage but refusing further tests to establish how things have changed since June.
I guess the judge is now confirming July 25 as deadline.

Sad thing is parents are going to be so frantic preparing for those meetings that if the judge confirms his initial ruling (again) they're going to be left with no time to actually prepare for their son's passing.

rabbitnothare · 14/07/2017 14:55

TheWeeWitch it does sound like it.
I can only imagine how toxic the atmosphere has been in PICU.

alpacasandwich · 14/07/2017 14:55

Connie Yates has almost as much understanding of these technical issues as anyone in the UK.

I doubt that given that she thinks a blind, deaf, unresponsive child enjoys watching the iPad.

cjt110 · 14/07/2017 14:56

Lapin She may understand but in no way more than the medics...

what a ridiculous stamnt to make shes not a doctor

NerrSnerr · 14/07/2017 14:56

I feel desperately sad for Charlie. What if he is in pain? What is he feeling?

cjt110 · 14/07/2017 14:56

Thanks Gabs

When is Charlie one?

I guess the judge will be asked to take his birthday into consideration as well

Armstrong: dare I say it, I do think Miss Yates has every chance of being able to contribute something useful to this meeting.*

Judge says its important that to encourage absolute openness among the clinicians that they're able to meet without the parents present. Good on you HJF

OP posts:
MoreProseccoNow · 14/07/2017 14:57

I think his mother would find that meeting very tough; the medical staff will approach it from a clinical point of view; to hear your child being spoken about in medical terms (especially those you disagree with) would be awful.

MumIsRunningAMarathon · 14/07/2017 14:57

But parents don't have 'rights'

It's not denying her fgs

DarthMaiden · 14/07/2017 14:57

Joshua Rozenburgs twitter feed is still updating.

Sky seems frozen

LapinR0se · 14/07/2017 14:57

It's not stripping their rights. Lay people do not attend these meetings.

TheWeeWitch · 14/07/2017 14:57

No, love, she doesn't. FFS!!!

rabbitnothare · 14/07/2017 14:58

I really don't think that they should be in that meeting.
