Continuation of the discussion.

It looks highly unlikely that there will be a verdict today as GOSH have not yet been able to put their case across. The Gard family had their position heard this morning and currently an expert witness from the US is being questioned via video link.

Do you think this will be drawn out into next week? I feel so sorry for the medics, parents and poor Charlie above all. The atmosphere on the ward must be awful.

LovelyBath77 · 13/07/2017 17:57

CA- Of course GOSH have been threatened and abused, they are trying to turn off a machine of a child who still has LIVE and HOPE!!!! WHY CANT THEY UNDERSTAND THAT!!! #SAVECHARLIEGARD

MissEliza · 13/07/2017 17:58

Facebook are so shit at dealing with this stuff. It's pathetic and dangerous.

LovelyBath77 · 13/07/2017 17:58

I expect the nurses and doctors are also dealing with plenty of other stuff as well, and will be very busy. I expect there are all sorts of other dramas and critical situations we don;t know of, going on for them every day. And parents of all kinds.

Ceto · 13/07/2017 17:58

The GOSH doctors have been defended to the hilt on here, and rightly so, I was just pointing out it didn't seem fair to vilify the other doctor because his view is different.

That isn't why he has been criticised, though. He is criticised for giving an opinion without having seen the clinical notes or read the original judgment; and for apparently being willing to experiment on a child when the best he can say about the chances of it benefiting Charlie is that he has no idea whether it will or not.

stitchglitched · 13/07/2017 17:58

Feeling very sad for Connie right now. She's been talking about him riding a bike and she's just had to sit and listen to her own expert, all her hopes, acknowledge that the best he can hope for his not alot.Sad

LovelyBath77 · 13/07/2017 17:59

Sorry that came across wrong, -i just mean there are lots of life and death situations for them to deal with, sadly. not just this one.

Ceto · 13/07/2017 17:59

Yes, why can't those pesky doctors and nurses at GOSH understand that it's only fair that they should receive abuse and death threats. How dare they complain!

LovelyBath77 · 13/07/2017 17:59

They do need to know the truth and come to terms with it though, They can;t go on hoping he might ride a bike one day.

muckypup73 · 13/07/2017 18:00

Absolutely bloody unbeilivable, that a lot of Ca are saying I havent saw any abuse, and it must be lies..........................

DailyMailReadersAreThick · 13/07/2017 18:00

I felt a flicker of hope when the witness was first talking. But as soon as Gollop began her questioning, it all unraveled. The "new evidence" doesn't seem to offer any hope at all that Charlie can escape the prison he's in and have any kind of quality of life.

My heart really sank for that poor boy when the judge suggested they wait for the witness to come over from the US to examine him, which would probably drag things on another week at least. But now it sounds like they will get an independent neurologist, if anything?

DailyMailReadersAreThick · 13/07/2017 18:01

Does anybody know if the expert is an MD or a PhD? He seemed to speak more like a research scientist than a medical doctor, but maybe he's both...?

Alfiemoon1 · 13/07/2017 18:01

What is the name of the Facebook page where it's all been kicking off on please

stitchglitched · 13/07/2017 18:01

Oh I agree they need to come to terms. I had half hoped after hearing his evidence they would drop their case but I can't see that ever happening. It was just the report of her fleeing the court in tears that saddened me.

DearMrDilkington · 13/07/2017 18:02

I agree stitch. I feel horrendous for both connie and chris, I can't even begin to imagine what they're feeling at this minute.

I don't agree with how they are handling things, but I can completely understand why they're doing it. My heart breaks for them.

Ta1kinPeace · 13/07/2017 18:02

So sad that the Parents do not have good people with them in the court to help them cope with what is being said without them resorting to shouting and walking out.
The delays are not helping Charlie.

AndHoldTheBun · 13/07/2017 18:02

Good to know the Met are looking into reported threats to hospital staff (and others).

GinSoakedTwitchyPony · 13/07/2017 18:03

There are, at this moment, a total of 11 Admins and Mods listed for the CA FB group. They could have stopped those posts long ago, had they wanted to.Bit late now to be telling them all to delete that type of post.

stitchglitched · 13/07/2017 18:03

On a 'lighter note' the membership number for CA seems to be dropping quite rapidly suddenly.

FlowerSour · 13/07/2017 18:03

I don't see how it's not in contempt of court- using public opinion to try and sway a judge? Surely that's out of order.

meddie · 13/07/2017 18:03

I hope the police do address the threats. The staff at Gosh and the lawyers involved in this case absolutely do not deserve to be hounded and abused for just doing their job.
This is an emotive case and you would have to have a heart of stone not to be affected by it if you were a member of staff at Gosh or his legal team. Not to mention the effect this is having on other parents and children at Gosh.
Social media keyboard warriors are getting out of hand. Its one thing to have an opinion on a case, its another to deliberately seek out the people who are involved and abuse them or incite others to violence against them.

GabsAlot · 13/07/2017 18:04

i was annoy with this so calld expert for saying he didnt know how bad charlis brain is but still want to expriment on him
