early adopter of Prime. it used to make life easier as a busy parent. you could reliably search for what you want, filter by prime, snd push the button. what you had ordered would arrive the next day.
now, filter by prime, select, get out your microscope and identify the words in the small print " not available in prime"
or things take just as long to arrive as a standard order. costume for school play, ordered last week, still no sign.

Nah I love it.

Pretty much everything I need is on prime and it arrives the next day just fine.

NancyDonahue · 13/07/2017 08:01

You still get free delivery though, just not next day. It always tells you the estimated delivery day on the item page and again before you check out. It's just giving you more options really.

HerBluebiro · 13/07/2017 08:02

Yeah I've noticed a number of 'prime' objects now have a 3-7 day estimated delivery.

Just have to double check every time

ProfYaffle · 13/07/2017 08:04

I found the same. I'd search for something, it'd be marked Prime but when I put it in the basket it changed to 'free delivery' rather than next day delivery. Things stopped coming by Amazon courier, just arrived as usual in the normal mail.

In my case I live relatively rurally (but not in the Scottish islands or anything!) so I think they decided it was too expensive doing next day delivery to my address and put a marker on my account.

Needless to say it's cancelled now.

DopeyDazy · 13/07/2017 08:06

Had a few times where its late and complained. They always add a couple if months on to your membership

OhYouBadBadKitten · 13/07/2017 08:11

my order which was earmarked for delivery yesterday, was even marked as arriving yesterday still hasn't arrived. I've been given a free extra month of prime as compensation, but still, I waited in......

Only got it for the stupid Top Gear replacement, we don't watch anything else on it.

Nikephorus · 13/07/2017 08:11

Yeah, it's the items that aren't next day that annoy me - you've got an order for several items & two will be a couple of days later so you're stuck thinking "do I change the rest to deliver on that day too or not to make it easier?" and then you do and find that they've got the other items out earlier so you've still got two delivery days.

NC4now · 13/07/2017 08:13

I'm with you. It used to be well handy for disorganised types like me.
I do like the amount of music I can download though.

Petalbird · 13/07/2017 08:16

I've just found that you can order second hand books on prime which is awesome. Cheap fast book delivery Grin

0hCrepe · 13/07/2017 08:20

I agree and their music is a joke, you have to upgrade for anything I'd like to listen to. Plus they put shops like my family's stationery, art and toy shop out of business.

eyebrowsonfleek · 13/07/2017 08:43

This happened on eBay too. 15 years ago it was a brilliant place to find hard to get things but now you've got to filter item location to UK only and research the rrp of items because a lot of people just sell shop merchandise at a markup for example A £9.99 Book People bundle for £19.99

Prime Day deals seemed especially crap this year, and delivery options are a bit all over the shop. Some things I can have delivered in an hour or two, others several days. It was a lot clearer when everything was next day.

That aside though, I think that the new prime reading is great, and allows me to read magazines on my kindle when I'm on the train or bus.

I also really like the option to pay monthly, even though it costs slightly more.

If I had a child in nappies I would also appreciate the 20% discount on those.

I live in France and the French Amazon is so crap in comparison. Prime is 49 euros a year but all you get in next day delivery and access to certain products that can only be bought if you are a prime member. I have not joined, and they randomly cancelled an order after delaying it several days without giving a reason. They have it in stock, and the parcel was at a depot only a few kilometres away from my house.

AalyaSecura · 13/07/2017 08:57

Yep, I agree - next day delivery is not as reliable, and things turn out not to be prime when you search. And I've had to send back quite a lot of products because they're bashed up - usually the cardboard is fine, so the packer has just sent out a beaten up product. No good when it's a present.

AalyaSecura · 13/07/2017 08:59

I was really surprised at how long the delivery times were (never next day) for prime stuff when shopping from my mum's house which is more rural than mine - not significantly so, say 15 miles from a major town.

hiimmumma · 13/07/2017 09:05

I've had 5 separate orders now not arrive next day when they were supposed to.
Including something that was due to come yesterday that just didn't turn up, so another day of waiting indoors all day with a small child who needs some fresh air.
It's crap.
Another package was delivered somewhere but not to us! That was over 3 months ago and still not resolved. It's impossible to get hold of anyone to talk to about it at amazon.

I think they have sublet out all the deliveries and the standards have massively dropped.

Not what it used to be!!

seventhgonickname · 13/07/2017 09:05

Also haven't had next day deliveries, have had thing left on the doorstep too,v annoying when you've been in,and lots of battered items.

Coulddowithanap · 13/07/2017 09:17

I don't usually select next day delivery (when I do things do arrive next day), I like to go for slower delivery and £1 digital credit.

Elphame · 13/07/2017 09:23

I wish they still did the postage only version. I have no interest at all in the film and music content and it's too expensive if you don't use the extras.

chloesmumtoo · 13/07/2017 09:26

We had this issue, was desperate for something so ticked the relevant prime box filter. Picked the item out and purchased it. Unknown to me the item was not next day delivery and infact took a fair bit longer. Obviously my fault that I didn't check the delivery estimate (rushing) but did assume prime meant next day. Being more careful now. Does make you feel a bit cheated as prime items can generally be overpriced sometimes for the service

tenpoletudor · 13/07/2017 09:27

I just discovered we have Prime membership
(how the jeff I didnt realise is beyond me, but I've been unwell Blush

What is good about it pls?
What music can you download (and how?)
10 yr old wants something to listen to music on (adele, minecraft songs) on the swing / trampoline and I am broke so dont want to pay a fortune for an iPod/downloads...

anything else I can do with Prime?

ItsNachoCheese · 13/07/2017 09:29

No attempt was made yesterday... amazon has went to shit of late

aibu to say Amazon Prime aint what it used to be?
peaceloveandbiscuits · 13/07/2017 09:30

It's not free delivery when it costs £7.99 a month or whatever it is Hmm

seasonschooner · 13/07/2017 09:32

I still miss the early days of Amazon, free delivery and arrived next day or day after.

peaceloveandbiscuits · 13/07/2017 09:33

Nacho we had one of those yesterday too Angry I was in!

Timefortea99 · 13/07/2017 09:34

I think it is great. Ordered some vitamins yesterday in the morning, and they were here by 6 that evening.
