early adopter of Prime. it used to make life easier as a busy parent. you could reliably search for what you want, filter by prime, snd push the button. what you had ordered would arrive the next day.
now, filter by prime, select, get out your microscope and identify the words in the small print " not available in prime"
or things take just as long to arrive as a standard order. costume for school play, ordered last week, still no sign.

I ordered 3 items on their Prime promotion (Tuesday) 2 arrived Wednesday, I am still waiting for the third item. They have a large warehouse fairly locally to where I live so I tend to get items fairly quickly anyway.

LivingInMidnight · 13/07/2017 16:21

I miss the old price. Unfortunately everything is arriving on time lately so I've not had a full 12 months extra this year. 😒

silkpyjamasallday · 13/07/2017 17:02

I signed up when prime first became available as just a delivery service, and haven't been charged since, I only get the next day delivery but my parents have the tv and I don't think it's as good as Netflix which we already have so I don't intend to change anything. I had a load of stuff not turn up on time in October and December, but I suppose Christmas time delays are the reason for the latter. It was great when dd was a newborn as I wasn't keen on leaving the house for long stretches of time to try and track down something specific that might not be available within walking distance.

I have noticed less things on prime are actually next day, this has annoyed me today, as I noticed moths have been eating my juju hat, so ordered some spray to try and halt the damage before they eat through all the feathers, and it's not actually turning up until next week, despite being labelled as prime. I should have checked and I'm kicking myself now.

YABU

I love Amazon prime

Redglitter · 13/07/2017 17:23

I must admit pretty much everything I've ordered has come next day. I used Prime Now on Prime Day & my order arrived within 3 hours of being placed.. AND it was packed in nothing more than a paper bag Shock

user1492287253 · 13/07/2017 17:31

i thought that Prime meant next day delivery. we live 8 miles from the warehouse so it pisses me off that i order something and it takes days to turn up
does anyone know why items are allowed to marked as prime if they are not?

I've found Prime great, but this was our first Prime Day and I was totally unimpressed. The "savings" are quoted against RRP, not what Amazon normally sell for, so it was impossible to find good deals. You'd see something at 70% off, only to realise that it was only a pound or two cheaper than Amazon's usual price.

OlennasWimple · 13/07/2017 17:36

My pet hate is when prices are given as a range (£6.99-£27.99, say) and there appears to be no way to buy it at the lower price - it's clearly just to get your interest. Which is understandable because there is so much stuff on there now, wading through all the options is like being in a mega warehouse with too narrow aisles and the shelves all stacked to the ceiling.

Plus I hate when they hide in the tiny print that the item you want is coming from China and is going to take three weeks, so you only realise when you get to check out

upperlimit · 13/07/2017 17:42

I'm with you. The biggest draw was next day delivery. I might as well head out to the shop if I have to wait

It's the reason we don't use it much any more and won't renew.

WhattheChuff · 13/07/2017 17:44

^^Yes yes, everything Olenna said. I really hate the price bracket. It is never the cheap price quoted.
Also we've had several Prime orders either late or 'lost' this year. I don't think we've had anything come on time come to think of it.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 13/07/2017 18:29

turns out my order is lost and a new one will be delivered but they can't guarantee next day delivery for the new one. so shit.

eyebrowsonfleek · 13/07/2017 22:09

I live a similar distance from an Amazon warehouse. They need to start Click and Collect 😂

RiverTam · 13/07/2017 22:16

We get some stuff on the same day!

It's pretty clear if something isn't Prime, isn't it? I've not had to go hunting for that info.

And the fabulous Halt and Catch Fire is on Prime.

hiimmumma · 13/07/2017 22:17

We've complained about late deliveries and got extra months for free but it's still so annoying to waste a day waiting in!
I ordered something on Tuesday next day delivery
Yesterday didn't come and said I would be today
Today it hasn't come and now saying any time until Monday. And to check back if it's not here by Tuesday for more info.
So crap.
I'm in London too if it makes any difference (I.e. Not a remote location)

Amazon prime was great when it used to actually work.
Now half the stuff isn't available next day, and even when it is it you can't rely on it.

Groupie123 · 13/07/2017 23:02

I get same day delivery and 2 hour delivery options free. They once delivered a parcel to me at the station as I got there at the end of my commute. It is fantastic if they can deliver the total service package to you.

EyeHalveASpellingChequer · 14/07/2017 06:33

If it can't be delivered the next working day, then it's probably because it's at an Amazon warehouse abroad (Germany, France, Spain or Italy). Although this means that you may have to wait longer, it allows you to buy from international sellers.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 14/07/2017 22:54

or it's because it's lost but they won't admit it, but keep promising it in the next 24 hours.
Anyone know how to escalate a complaint?

JaniceBattersby · 14/07/2017 23:10

I find it seeks to make absolutely no difference to the arrival date of my package whether it's Prime or not. It just tends to turn up when it turns up.

Even 2/3 years ago, most stuff I ordered came within two days. Now it's normally five.

I also find stuff on Amazon tends to be more expensive than in other shops.

And the packaging. I'm no Eco-warrior but crikey, how much damage are they doing to the planet with all those boxes and all that packing paper?

hiimmumma · 17/07/2017 07:48

A package we ordered last Tuesday on next day delivery didn't come. Kept saying the next day until eventually we got an update last night at 10pm saying it has been delivered.
Except it hasn't.
It's not here anyway.

It's a car seat so not exactly something small or cheap
And we need to before we go away next week.

So frustrating.

Yogagirl123 · 17/07/2017 07:58

I used to order quite a bit from Amazon, rarely now, as I don't like paying for delivery and quite often you have to pay, despite ordering minimum value, the free, so called, super saver delivery takes forever to arrive. I would never subscribe to prime seems a complete con to me, to pay monthly when you are buying from them, can't understand why anyone would do this. They must be losing lots of customers. I tend to order more from Argos these days, yes they is a delivery charge, but your item can be delivered the same day, and that is worth paying for IMHO.

PlayOnWurtz · 17/07/2017 08:01

Prime is taking the piss. I've found if I get it non prime with same speed delivery the item is often several pounds cheaper. I will be cancelling it once my year is up.

ItsNachoCheese · 17/07/2017 08:38

I just looked at my old amazon account and now you cant buy anything without signing up to a 30 day trial of prime! Thats a disgrace as not everyone wants prime and saying oh you can cancel at anytime is just a cop out
