early adopter of Prime. it used to make life easier as a busy parent. you could reliably search for what you want, filter by prime, snd push the button. what you had ordered would arrive the next day.
now, filter by prime, select, get out your microscope and identify the words in the small print " not available in prime"
or things take just as long to arrive as a standard order. costume for school play, ordered last week, still no sign.

Hmm. I think it must depend where you live. I am a Londoner, and a lot of Prime stuff will even be delivered same day. In my experience the stuff that takes 2 days are items that come from Amazon Eu.

I don't think I have had a single item arrive later than the date stated in the past year.

And I bought a fantastic Bosch drill on Prime day recently that I have had in my wish list for ages, at a really low price!

YANBU I ordered DC birthday present on prime several days in advance. It was only the day before their birthday with no delivery that I realised the toy was enroute from France! Very annoying.

theEagleIsLost · 13/07/2017 09:38

Another package was delivered somewhere but not to us! That was over 3 months ago and still not resolved. It's impossible to get hold of anyone to talk to about it at amazon.

Try their on-line chat facility.

I had to do it twice as first guy instead I wait a few days when the delivery notice said it had been handed to me - in case it turned up - then did it again and they applogised and refunded.

I do find it a bit annoying when searching for prime - to find things aren't next day it's more work when you need to get something delivered quick.

JAPAB · 13/07/2017 09:41

I cancelled mine within the first year. I had primarily got it for the video streaming part, but it didn't really have much of anything of interest to me. Only watched a few things in that year, unlike with Netflix where I almost always have some series or other on the go.

Lokisglowstickofdestiny · 13/07/2017 09:42

I still get next day delivery on Prime items but usually opt for the slower time to get the £1 digital credit - I find with the slower delivery it still gets delivered quicker than their estimate. I've had a couple of deliveries that were late in all the time I've had Prime and they added a months membership to my account each time without quibbling. I like the music, yes not everything is on there but as it's an add on to the original service it's not bad. I quite like the TV - have recently enjoyed American Gods and Preacher. I'd compare it to something like Now TV - the entertainment package (which is no films) is £7.99 a month now and it's just Sky's TV (mostly crap reality stuff) plus box sets that's all, so Prime is pretty good value for money.

GabsAlot · 13/07/2017 09:42

i got it mainly for tv /films its ok th music is hit and miss though

anditwasallgoingsowell · 13/07/2017 09:44

Yes we're going to cancel it. We live rurally and I wanted it for next day delivery, which less and less things seem to be available on. The musics rubbish and the films not much better. Going to swop to Spotify and Netflix.

YouMakeMeFeelLikeDancing · 13/07/2017 09:46

Had a few times where its late and complained. They always add a couple if months on to your membership

I complained about something not coming the next day and they just said "Sorry, we'll look into it". Absolute rubbish

SlothMama · 13/07/2017 09:47

I've had several parcels arrive late now, it used to be a much better service! I've also noticed a lot of items say they are prime when they really aren't.

Sallystyle · 13/07/2017 09:50

I have had nothing but great experiences with it thankfully. Worth every penny.

lostincumbria · 13/07/2017 09:59

I've never not been offered a free month, always use e-mailed to complain. Maybe try again.

I absolutely love Prime, amazon full stop. I'm in rural Derbyshire and can't say I've had any problems with next day delivery not turning up. I don't like amazon logistics particularly as they used to use DPD with the hour window thing.

I have upgraded the music subscription, that's fab for me as I have pretty eclectic tastes (think Kid Rock thru Queen thru Mormon Tabernacle Choir) and they're all there.

The TV shows on prime don't particularly interest me but the kids love the selections on there. That said I do like the series link keepy thing though that's not on prime (I know google do it too.) But its nice to collect a series as it airs rather than wait an age for the box set or mess around recording.

I've found parts for the car, washing machine and laptop and got them here within 24 hours saving a tonne. :)

Nousernameforme · 13/07/2017 10:06

I am a prime customer of old then stopped using it as i wasn't ordering enough to justify it got a free trial recently and every time I've ordered its been late so I complained via their customer services and did not renew. Tbh I am a bit blah with amazon nowadays I used to buy loads on there all the big christmas and birthday shops now I go elsewhere

OhYouBadBadKitten · 13/07/2017 10:51

They can't even tell me which day my order will arrive now. This is ridiculous.

LurkingHusband · 13/07/2017 10:55

I find these "filters" on websites are a bit pants generally, but Amazon especially.

Quite aside from the useless criteria you can search by (I'd rather be able to choose the Android version of a phone, than the colour), there's also the cruft that gets dragged in despite trying to set pricing filters. Even though I say "£100-200", it manages to drag in headphone covers at £0.99 "for Samsung Galaxy"

Signal to noise ratio Sad. Too much noise, not enough signal (like Google searches these days).

FeedMeAndTellMeImPretty · 13/07/2017 11:43

yep, it annoys me that things can be listed as next day or even same day delivery but when I check-out and put my address rather than DP's address (as he is at work during the day, so its better to have things delivered here) or put down a family member's address for a gift, the next day delivery option disappears. I live in town and DP's house is out in the sticks, so it can't be that it's easier to deliver to him.

Kursk · 13/07/2017 11:46

In rural USA we use it a lot as it saves us a 2 hour round trip to the shop! Instead it's a 2mile round trip to the mailbox.

LurkingHusband · 13/07/2017 12:01

In rural USA

Amazon (unsurprisingly) is designed entirely for the US market. Their success in the UK is due less to careful design, and more to the pisspoor competition they faced when starting out ...

My DB (US based) swears by them for the same reason, as he's "in the sticks" (by US standards).

Roomster101 · 13/07/2017 12:06

I always get everything by the next day and sometimes within a few hours but perhaps that is because we live quite near an amazon depot.

LurkingHusband · 13/07/2017 12:25

We have same-day delivery too (never used it though).

Generally we just tick "whenever you like" for delivery options, and take the £1 credit for digital content ...

Scaredycat3000 · 13/07/2017 13:01

We have prime, I wanted some wool, it was half price and add on, full price it was free delivery. I only wanted a couple of balls, to get my minimum order I ended up ordering a bra and 4 balls of wool. They sent my order in 5 boxes. It is just so frustrating, and wasteful. I used to get loads of bargains, now it's like sticking your hand in a lucky dip quality wise if you're not ordering a known product, prices are all over the shop. I always check their prices, well RRP, against other shops, they often are reduced to the actual RRP. I don't bother so much these days, search function is pants. They do change the expected delivery date between the basket and you paying.
It seems to me that any bargain place, I know Amazon isn't primarily a bargain place but Black friday, Prime day, etc, very quickly loses it's way. They soon create bargains rather than reduce over stock. What with January sales now starting before xmas, pound shops now with own brand stock, car boots full of traders. I like Aliexpress, but all the prices go up two weeks before a big sale, usually just as I'm about to do last orders for xmas in november, ready to go back down in the sale then sell out!
I do hope the next big trend is something like 'trust us trust our prices'. The owner of Jigsaw I think it was has said customers are confused, fluctuating prices of the same goods in the same store does not fill customers with confidence.

RortyCrankle · 13/07/2017 13:03

I don't buy enough stuff to worry about it to be honest and when I do, I rarely if ever need it the next day, it's just a nice to have. I got Prime when the Top Gear trio moved to Amazon and am now happy to continue paying for the absolutely fantastic Lucifer - the third episode of which begins in September.

Sprinklestar · 13/07/2017 14:04

YANBU

Ten years ago, I lived in London and Prime wasn't a thing and everything came next day. Now I pay for the privilege of things arriving at a later date than first promised.

Elphame · 13/07/2017 14:13

It's the changing of the delivery date that drives me crazy. I bought an expensive bit of kit last week. Delivery was estimated to be Mon or Tues this week. Perfect- so I ordered.

I got a message it had been despatched last Thursday but would be delivered Monday. Perfect

I was not pleased to get a message on Saturday morning that my item was out for delivery - I was 200 miles away. The redelivery attempt on Sunday failed too as I was still 200 miles away....

HairyToity · 13/07/2017 14:19

Happy prime customer here.
