to continue to confront and shame non poo-lifting dog owners until they get the goddamn message?

I have a dog. I recently moved to a quiet cul-de-sac opposite a lovely little green that my and the neighbourhood children use to play on every single day (gardens are small). I pick up rubbish when I'm over there, another neighbour does the same - it's generally kept in really nice condition.

Yesterday morning I saw an untethered Jack russell have a crap on the green so went next door (it belongs to my neighbours father) and asked him to pick it up. His spluttering response: I don't have a bag. My response: here you are . He complied.

This morning I was making breakfast for the DC and see a teenage boy walking two large dogs on the green. One drops a deuce, he goes to walk off. I went outside (in my leopard print pyjamas and no bra Blush) and shouted over 'Can you pick up your dog's poo please?' His response: I don't have a bag. Me: Hmm I'll give you one.

Last week I was driving DC to activity and saw a couple walking in front of a dog that wasn't on a lead. It stopped to shit, they didn't even look back, just kept on walking. I turned the car around and pulled up next to them, told them their dog had crapped and asked them to pick it up. Their response: we don't have a bag. Me: 'Here you go' .

AIBU to think that IF YOU HAVE A FUCKING DOG YOU PICK UP AND DISPOSE OF IT'S FUCKING SHIT. It isn't the highlight of my day waiting for ddog to go and lifting it but it's part of the fucking deal, if you aren't prepared to pick up shit then DON'T GET A FUCKING DOG.

Sorry, am quite angry.

AIBU to continue my campaign of shaming and handing out bags until people stop letting their dogs shit with impunity on a communal area?

I would. I don't have a dog but often make rude remarks to people that have and don't pick up!

I wouldn't shit on their lawn and leave it why is it any different.

SoupDragon · 13/07/2017 07:49

Good for you! And I say that as a dog owner.

SoupDragon · 13/07/2017 07:50

Which reminds me. I think something has crapped on my brand new driveway overnight and I need to go deal with it (although it's probably fox)

StickThatInYourPipe · 13/07/2017 07:51

Ah it's so grim! YANBU

GinIsIn · 13/07/2017 07:51

Same here. Dog owner. Have been known to chase people waving a poo bag with cries of "I THINK YOU NEED ONE OF THESE!!"

64PooLane · 13/07/2017 07:51

YANBU, of course, because such people deserve to be pelted with rotten tomatoes and little bags of soft shit but I'm pretty sure that is not allowed.

SassySpacek · 13/07/2017 07:51

Flowersq

SassySpacek · 13/07/2017 07:52

random q
Thanks for doing that x

Gileswithachainsaw · 13/07/2017 07:53

Good for you op!!!

If you can't deal with it then don't get a dog

Trampire · 13/07/2017 07:53

Definitely not BU.

I'm a dog owner too. The amount of times I've seen a dog turd right underneath a fog poo bin is unbelievable. I've been known to pick theirs up too if I'm there. Not part of the deal for me.

My dog lead has a compartment built into it that holds poo bags. There's really no excuse.

TerfwithaNerf · 13/07/2017 07:54

I'm fairly sure I'll soon be known as 'that crazy woman who hands out poo bags' but I just don't care.

Maybe I'll get some binoculars and hide in the garden waiting for them .

thankyou.

SimonsPies · 13/07/2017 07:56

YANBU and I admire your pluck but personally I've given up on calling out selfish people on their arseholery as it rarely ends well.

Trampire · 13/07/2017 07:56

I've been on walks where people have forgotten a poo bag and have asked me for one. I'll happily give them out. Likewise, my poo bag roll ran out once on a walk and U asked a fellow dog walker who gave me about 10! Most people I've met are responsible.

I would carry on OP. They're lucky to didn't report them.

cheminotte · 13/07/2017 07:57

Yanbu. I'm not a dog owner but am considering buying some poo bags so I can emulate you!

Trampire · 13/07/2017 07:57

Sorry for typos.

TerfwithaNerf · 13/07/2017 07:58

I have the opposite view Simons - if no-one calls them out on their behaviour, they'll continue to think it's normal/fine.

I'm not the type to stand idly by and grumble to myself when I can actively try and change the situation Smile.

JustifiedandAncient80 · 13/07/2017 08:00

Good for you! There is no excuse for leaving your Dog's poo. I have had to use my glove and on one occasion my sock when I forgot bags!

RustyBear · 13/07/2017 08:00

Councils can now require dog owners/walkers to carry poop bags and impose fines if they don't. Maybe you should ask your council to put this in place?

ASatisfyingThump · 13/07/2017 08:00

I'm with you, we have the same problem in the field by our local park. I've been told to pick it up myself before - it's not my responsibility to pick up after other people's dogs.

Also, if your dog has no recall and you can't keep it under control (like stopping it running at small children and knocking them over) then keep it on a fucking lead or walk it somewhere else instead of next to the park where kids play. And when your out of control dog charges at someone, don't witter on about how friendly they are - the word you're looking for is "sorry" and then you put your fucking dog on a fucking lead.

I swear people round here think I'm not a dog person. I adore dogs, I just hate irresponsible owners.

FiveShelties · 13/07/2017 08:01

You are definitely not being unreasonable. I also hand out bags - there is nothing worse than going on the grass to pick up your own dog's poo up and stepping in another dog's poo. Takes seconds to pick up, just pick the bloody poo up -----please!

agedknees · 13/07/2017 08:03

I love you!!! Yesterday on my dogs morning walk I encountered 8 loads of dog poo on pavements/the park. I picked them up and disposed of them.

If I can do it with arthritic hands, hips, spine and knees, why can't the lazy pigs who own the dogs?

It really gets my goat.

Some lovely person near us has tied clean dog poop bags to lampposts so people can take if they 'forget' to bring their own.

SimonsPies · 13/07/2017 08:04

I'd love you to come and take on a few of my neighbours OPSmile

Hotwaterbottle1 · 13/07/2017 08:06

I would. But a word of caution I've had many people give me grief as my dog is female & looks like she is pooing when she pees!! She does this squatting thing! Ive had to explain & almost show them!

theflickyones · 13/07/2017 08:09

I would continue. In our area the community council have filled empty juice bottles with bags and tethered them to fence/lamp posts. It has worked a bit.
Obviously it's wrong that you'd have to be out of pocket but you're handing out bags anyway.
