I have a dog. I recently moved to a quiet cul-de-sac opposite a lovely little green that my and the neighbourhood children use to play on every single day (gardens are small). I pick up rubbish when I'm over there, another neighbour does the same - it's generally kept in really nice condition.

Yesterday morning I saw an untethered Jack russell have a crap on the green so went next door (it belongs to my neighbours father) and asked him to pick it up. His spluttering response: I don't have a bag. My response: here you are . He complied.

This morning I was making breakfast for the DC and see a teenage boy walking two large dogs on the green. One drops a deuce, he goes to walk off. I went outside (in my leopard print pyjamas and no bra Blush) and shouted over 'Can you pick up your dog's poo please?' His response: I don't have a bag. Me: Hmm I'll give you one.

Last week I was driving DC to activity and saw a couple walking in front of a dog that wasn't on a lead. It stopped to shit, they didn't even look back, just kept on walking. I turned the car around and pulled up next to them, told them their dog had crapped and asked them to pick it up. Their response: we don't have a bag. Me: 'Here you go' .

AIBU to think that IF YOU HAVE A FUCKING DOG YOU PICK UP AND DISPOSE OF IT'S FUCKING SHIT. It isn't the highlight of my day waiting for ddog to go and lifting it but it's part of the fucking deal, if you aren't prepared to pick up shit then DON'T GET A FUCKING DOG.

Sorry, am quite angry.

AIBU to continue my campaign of shaming and handing out bags until people stop letting their dogs shit with impunity on a communal area?

I do this, too. I usually a confrontation-avoider, but I practised my Paddington Stare* and now ask people politely with a smile.

Hotwater I know what you mean and be assured, I only attack once I have irrefutable visual confirmation of a turd.

I have a dog the size of a Clydesdale and she does matching poos. I don't understand why people aren't fined for going out with their dogs without bags. I always have heaps in my pocket and tied to the lead. It's not that hard!!!!

DramaInPyjamas · 13/07/2017 08:13

"Some lovely person near us has tied clean dog poop bags to lampposts so people can take if they 'forget' to bring their own"
^^
I've seen this too, (with piles of poo directly underneath!)

and our council give out free bags so it's not even a case of forgetting or having no money, it's just absolute dirty laziness.

We have bags in every drawer, pocket and handbag, they seem to multiply!

Ropsleybunny · 13/07/2017 08:14

You are brilliant OP! It's just a shame anyone has to tell anyone else to pick up.

ethelfleda · 13/07/2017 08:14

YANBU and well done!

jenm87 · 13/07/2017 08:20

when walking my daughter to school its a case of watch your feet, watch your feet all the way there and back, our school sits in a public park (obviously the school has high fence all round) but we have to walk through the park to get to the school gate, one parent never takes bags and most parents tell her to pick it up and hands her one, it really gets on my nerves that the bags are free from the council or local library so cant bring cost it to is so its just laziness. she complained one day about the dog shit everywhere we couldnt believe it, it was her dog from previous days!! if it eats it will shit so if you dont want the responsibility of picking it up dont have a dog!

GarkandGookin · 13/07/2017 08:22

Why are they leaving the house with their dogs and no poo bags? I am a dog-owner and I get the rage in the park when I see people walking ahead and not looking round so they don't 'notice' their dog having a shit on the path to the playground. It isn't difficult - if you don't want responsibility for a dog then don't have one!
YADNBU.

Treesinbloom · 13/07/2017 08:24

i live in Paris and dog shit on the pavement really annoys me.

There's a stretch of about 50m of pavement right by a park (where dogs aren't allowed - it's for chidlren) and the pavement is SMEARED with dog shit on an almost permament basis. The nursery there has put signs up on the railings telling people it's illegal but it hasn't done much good.

It's difficult to negociate round all the poo with a toddler and a child on a bike.

Tokelau · 13/07/2017 08:26

YANBU OP.

We were told in a dog training class that by law, when you walk a dog, you must have a bag with you. I'm not sure if that's correct, but it's worth checking, and if so, tell those people.

Itscurtainsforyou · 13/07/2017 08:27

I agree OP. I don't have a dog but get really cross when people let theirs shit on the pavement especially on our road.

I think owners who don't pick up their dog's shit should be made to eat it...

Littledinosaur · 13/07/2017 08:28

I had to pick up ddog's poo with a receipt once when I got caught out with no bags Blush I now have them in every pocket and a dispenser on his lead!

user789653241 · 13/07/2017 08:31

Yes , please keep doing it!
I do admire you.

I think I luffs you too op Star. Hurrah! The fearless turd fighter.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 13/07/2017 08:41

I alsways carry spares.

My line is "would you like to borrow one of these?" While handing the over.

I've also played picked up dozens of left poos in the park we use.

Having said that, there are some dogs and owners I would not dare to offer a bag to.

64PooLane · 13/07/2017 08:41

Woohoo ellenripley Grin

I have sometimes wondered about reporting people for this (our council has signs up about fines) - but how would that work in practice? Politely ask for their name and address? Take a photo?

I'd want to try it but I'm also a little bit afraid I'd get punched.

terrylene · 13/07/2017 08:42

YA so NBU! Please keep on. Flowers

Bear in mind that it is probably a life-time commitment though.

TheFlyingFauxPas · 13/07/2017 08:42

Shock don't have a fucking bag???????

What vile creatures. I would be happy to confront, though people never do it in front of me. I think I have a confrontational rest face.

I'm a dog owner. I have never not picked up. I panic if I run out and ask as soon as I see another dog owner.

Decaffstilltastesweird · 13/07/2017 08:42

Oh ellen, that made me laugh! It's biodegradable after all, so I'm sure she didn't mind Wink.

PS: I was on your cheeky fucker thread, which was ace too!

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 13/07/2017 08:43

I have been caught without a bag once or twice, but I just ask a fellow dog walker and pass the favour on later.

NonStopNeuroticCabaret · 13/07/2017 08:43

YADNBU. There are several families near me who take their dogs out without leads (my house is next to an alley that leads to a big recreation ground) and one of them likes to shit on my lawn - and on one occasion, right on my doorstep Angry I've chased one of the dogs away on the one occasion I caught it. Owner didn't care a bit.
