I have a dog. I recently moved to a quiet cul-de-sac opposite a lovely little green that my and the neighbourhood children use to play on every single day (gardens are small). I pick up rubbish when I'm over there, another neighbour does the same - it's generally kept in really nice condition.

Yesterday morning I saw an untethered Jack russell have a crap on the green so went next door (it belongs to my neighbours father) and asked him to pick it up. His spluttering response: I don't have a bag. My response: here you are . He complied.

This morning I was making breakfast for the DC and see a teenage boy walking two large dogs on the green. One drops a deuce, he goes to walk off. I went outside (in my leopard print pyjamas and no bra Blush) and shouted over 'Can you pick up your dog's poo please?' His response: I don't have a bag. Me: Hmm I'll give you one.

Last week I was driving DC to activity and saw a couple walking in front of a dog that wasn't on a lead. It stopped to shit, they didn't even look back, just kept on walking. I turned the car around and pulled up next to them, told them their dog had crapped and asked them to pick it up. Their response: we don't have a bag. Me: 'Here you go' .

AIBU to think that IF YOU HAVE A FUCKING DOG YOU PICK UP AND DISPOSE OF IT'S FUCKING SHIT. It isn't the highlight of my day waiting for ddog to go and lifting it but it's part of the fucking deal, if you aren't prepared to pick up shit then DON'T GET A FUCKING DOG.

Sorry, am quite angry.

AIBU to continue my campaign of shaming and handing out bags until people stop letting their dogs shit with impunity on a communal area?

Having said that, there are some dogs and owners I would not dare to offer a bag to

This^^ is true too though. I've come across my fair share of wide boys and their poor messed up dogs Angry

Gramgram · 13/07/2017 08:44

Thank you OP. 💐

SonicBoomBoom · 13/07/2017 08:45

Good for you.

I was going to ask why do dog owners not carry poo-bags? Then figured out it was because they have no intention of picking up the poo when they leave for a walk, so why bother bringing a bag.

PiggyPlumPie · 13/07/2017 08:45

I have dog poo bags in my coat pocket but have never owned a dog Confused

TerfwithaNerf · 13/07/2017 08:46

Oh I've lifted Ddog's poo with all sorts before when we've been out and she's had an unprecedented 4/5 poos. Receipts, big sycamore leaves, a discarded crisp packet.

Once she had a dodgy tummy and squitted all over a driveway. I went home and got a big bottle of water, came back and sluiced it to the best of my ability.

It's just what you do isn't it.

You are my hero! I do it too if I see. Judgy pants on, it's normally older people in my area.

Scentofwater · 13/07/2017 08:47

Op you are my hero Smile

I don't have a dog so no bags to offer... but I am known among my friends as the one who tells complete strangers off for feeding seagulls. (Around here they snatch food from people and are doing so with increased violence, I don't want stupid tourists increasing the chance my child is attacked for her sandwich)

GinGeum · 13/07/2017 08:50

There's no excuse, is there? There is nothing worse than stepping in or rolling a pushchair through dog poo. I used to live in London and it happened all the time. Now I live in a village where a huge amount of villagers have dogs, and I never see dog poo on the street. It's so much nicer.

I only have to pick my own dog's poo up if he's got a bad tummy (rarely) yet still I take about 10 bags out with me on every walk just in case. (I only walk him on our private fields, and he waits until we've got there to poo rather than do it on the street on the way there)

ZuzuMyLittleGingersnap · 13/07/2017 08:51

OP,

" I only attack once I have irrefutable visual confirmation of a turd."

Bet that's a sentence you've never anticipated using Grin Grin

YADNBU.

Am total dog-lover, and total hater of the selfish idiots who shirk their responsibilities...giving every responsible dog owner a bad reputation, too.

Inspired by you, I may well now print off a load of these pictures to hand out with a poo bag and a Paddington Hard Stare...

There was one day in the garden centre where I did get a talking to though Blush GinDog had pooed on the concrete in the outdoor area and I picked it up, but when he poos, he walks as he does it, so I'd missed one of them when picking them up. I then saw a huddle of people pointing a few minutes later, and an employee came over to have a word about not picking it up. I apologised and hurried off to pick it up, and luckily a lady said she'd seen me picking the other bits up so it was accidental! I've never taken him to the garden centre again, though Grin

theymademejoin · 13/07/2017 08:54

Hotwater - I was about to say the same about female dogs squatting to wee. I've been challenged on that too, even if I'm already carrying a large bag of crap, so obviously pick up.

I've taken to narrating my dogs' toilet habits. "Oh, what are you doing there? It's just a wee. That's fine." So I get the "she's insane" looks as well as the "pick up after your dog, you dirty cow" looks. I'm not sure which is worse.

Btw - I always pick up poo and have been known to hand over bags too.

Dawndonnaagain · 13/07/2017 08:55

There's a hefty fine round here if you're caught, but I've never known anyone caught. I'm known for always having poo bags in my pockets/bag/car. Why go out without them if you have a dog?

LionsTigersBeers · 13/07/2017 08:57

You are AWESOME, OP.

And hats off to Ellen too!

StumpyScot92 · 13/07/2017 09:04

Not at all! I have known to be that lady who walks up to people going 'oh sorry have you ran out of bags? Don't worry here's one!'.

However I also do it with litterbugs when I'm out with pooch.. just loudly declare right behind people 'Oh don't worry Honey, WE'LL pick up that juice bottle they dropped, poor souls must not be able to see that bin 20 yards away!'

One day I think I'm going to get whacked off someone...
Done it to a Dad in a lovely seaside tourist town near where I stay who thought it was funny showing his son how you could jump on cans, make them flat then frisbee them on to the beach. So I picked them up and walked back to them (they were literally next to the bin, to the extent they could be leaning on it) and binned them, glaring the dad in the eye. He then followed me around for the next hour Blush

Fl0ellafunbags · 13/07/2017 09:05

Crack on. Our kids go to a school that backs on to a popular dog walking park. The pavement on the road leading to school and the park is shit city because of the dickheads who won't pick up.

BayLeaves · 13/07/2017 09:11

It's vile. We have a beautiful woodland near us which I can no longer take my toddler to because it is so littered with dog poo Sad

I took these pictures there one day, there were literally hundreds of dog poos in bags on the ground, as well as unbagged ones. I don't understand this at all - surely picking up and bagging up the poo is the hardest part so why just leave it lying there instead of taking it to the bin! This is all within a 2 minute walk of the bin! Grrr it makes me so angry, I think people should be banned from having dogs if they can't pick up the shit!

Only1scoop · 13/07/2017 09:17

Yanbu Op
Dirty selfish scumbags

ShoesHaveSouls · 13/07/2017 09:19

YANBU. I have a dog, and I always clear up after him. I've even been known to clear up other people's dog poo if it's in the middle of a path - I just think I don't wants the village kids to step in that. We have a village green with bins, and bags provided but still some people don't seem bothered to clear it up.

lucydogz · 13/07/2017 09:22

you're my hero - have a Flowers

SlothMama · 13/07/2017 09:33

YANBU It's disgusting I always clear up after my dog I hate standing in dog poo! I was caught short once and had ran out of bags. So I ran up to my house and got a bag, when I came back I had a tonne of abuse of an old lady about leaving the poo unattended! At least I had bothered to come back to clean it up unlike some people!

saveforthat · 13/07/2017 09:33

Well done. I do this too although sadly I believe the people who do this don't care and I would advise you to take care as some can become very aggressive. My dog will eat other dogs poo given the chance so this is doubly annoying for me.

YellowLawn · 13/07/2017 09:35

yanbu

you are my hero!

Tofutti · 13/07/2017 09:47

Be still my beating heart. You are my hero.

😍

JMJ1 · 13/07/2017 10:10

I was in park with my little DCs and watched two teenagers with a dog off the lead walk ahead as it pooed. I cringed at myself but couldn't let it go so called to them that their dog had pooed. They clearly had no bags and they stood there for a little while discussing what they would do. I didn't take my eyes off them in case they scarpered. Eventually one of them scooped it up with a tissue. I felt really bad but I didn't have anything I could offer them. I bet they've never gone out without a bag again.

LittleBooInABox · 13/07/2017 10:16

Good for you!

I don't own a dog, because housing and work issues. But walk my mums a lot. It boils my blood when people don't pick it up!
