A friend of mine had a cousin who happened to also be a cousin of Jim Kerr from Simple Minds. Although my friend was not actually related to Jim Kerr she referred to him as her half cousin. Another friend used to boast that she and Simon Le Bon were at school together, they did indeed go to the same school but not at the same time. Anyone else got any vague claims to fame?

I saw Gary Linekar in an airport once. Disappointingly, he wasn't eating Walkers crisps.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 16/07/2017 01:51

I saw Ant and Dec collecting their luggage at reclaim in Newcastle Airport . A crazy geordie lady was shouting eeeeeee which one are you at Dec. He smiled very politely.

Rod Stewart's MIL was behind me in the checkout queue in the Co-Op the other day. Didn't recognise her (why would I? )- but there was banter between her and the staff.

My DP was in a scuffle with Sting Hmm

Shockers · 16/07/2017 13:27

Can't abide Sting. What was the scuffle about? Grin

RockyBird · 16/07/2017 13:27

I hope your DP won. Sting is a bellendium extraordinaire.

redshoeblueshoe · 16/07/2017 13:41

I hope this is tenuous enough. My GS accidently tripped up Jason Orange, he was lovely to both GS and Dd.
About 2 weeks later GD accidently tripped up Jason Donovan, he was lovely too

SaucyJack · 16/07/2017 13:42

No need for the Hmm Mitzi.

If that were my DP, I'd get it printed on a t-shirt and wear it with pride.

CoodleMoodle · 16/07/2017 15:24

I have two.
DH's best friend's Mum is extremely good friends with Anthony Stewart Head & his wife. He pops up on my FB every now and then!

And I know someone who is a good mate of actor Marc Bannerman (used to be in Eastenders/Time Gentlemen Please). He's lovely!

I have a fragment of a bar of soap that a girl at school said Simon Le Bon washed his hands with if he washed his hands when he went to the toilet.

JakeBallardswife · 16/07/2017 18:55

My friends driving instructor used to live opposite Floella Benjamin.

Another few I remembered. - My neighbour has seen Helen Worth (Gail from Corrie) several times near her Mum's house. Her Daughter has been on the same Plane as Robbie Williams when she was cabin crew - she didn't get to serve him through.
I was at Carousel the other week while Paul McCartney was here. Because of where we were sitting we couldn't see him but most of the audience did.

puzzledbyadream · 16/07/2017 20:17

Leon Britton MP bumped into me & almost knocked me over on a station platform many years ago when I was a child. Didn't apologise.

BillywigSting · 16/07/2017 21:31

My dad was partly responsible for U2s first ever gig. He was the entertainments officer in university in Dublin and in charge of organising live events like gigs and sports. He says bono was a self important knob even back then. Also that he got his nickname because he was the 'bonovox' (good voice) in the church choir.

Jarvis Cocker once bought me a very expensive lp when he heard me talking about not being able to afford
it.

I've snogged one of the members of alabama 3

BabychamSocialist · 16/07/2017 21:34

Is that tenuous enough? Grin

I'm friends with someone who was once married to a guy in a band who was vaguely famous but his best friend (who was the lead singer) was involved with Paris Hilton and married to Avril Lavigne.

My cousin lives in the same town Burberry is from.

My sil once kicked so hard dancing at an album party her shoe flew off and smacked Bob Geldof in the face (hero).

I used to have a huge crush on Preston from the ordinary boys who went to my school and my first serious bf was the drummer in the band he was in before Ordinary Boys.
