If we can get our hands free to type from the constant facepalming, we should be able to post on this topic.

Quite a number of places marked as [garbled] on the transcript.

Sessions must be fuming, especially after the performance he put on at the hearing.

BossyBitch · 20/07/2017 11:27

Jesus Christ on a bycicle, he's now throwing his own administration under the bus and openly threatening to obstruct an ongoing investigation ...

Surely at some point even Republicans must realise that he poses as much of a risk to them as to anyone? See also: Sessions, J.

Lweji · 20/07/2017 11:43

AFAIK Hillary wasn't in office at any time during Bill's Presidency.
Although, IIRC, they tried but were shut down. Something to do with nepotism or something...

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/07/2017 12:13

what a garbled interview Confused

Lweji · 20/07/2017 12:16

what a garbled interview

Did you expect better?
Based on what?

MsHooliesCardigan · 20/07/2017 12:22

I haven't been following 45 for a little while- I can cope with reading about Trump or Brexit but not both.
Can anyone kindly summarise the last couple of weeks? I totally understand if it's too painful.

cozietoesie · 20/07/2017 12:23

Actually, Lweji. One generally does hope for better. Every time. And yet every time it's at least as bad.

Many months ago, I thought to myself over something 'Well the bar can't get lower than this.'

Oh naive and simple person that I was. It could - and indeed has! Sad

PerkingFaintly · 20/07/2017 12:39

I know what you mean, MsHoolies.

In brief, 45 has been to the G20 in Germany and met with Putin twice - one meeting scheduled for 30 mins but ran to nearly two and a half hours. US govt (I think State Dept or security) tried to make sure there were "grownups in the room", but in the end they weren't there.

One unscheduled meeting at a banquet where 45 moved to sit next to Putin and talked for nearly an hour, in sight but not earshot of other leaders.

And Don Jr's emails have come out, in which he enthusiastically agreed to a meeting with a bunch of Russians during the election campaign, because he was told they had info against Hillary as "part of Russia and its government’s support for Mr Trump".

Yes, that last bit really is a direct quote. Full email texts here: www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/jul/11/donald-trump-jr-emails-full-text-russia-rob-goldstone

Trump teams' line of retreat for the email story, which broke bit by bit, is that Don Jr's meeting was about adoption of Russian babies by US citizens. Interestingly, 45 has now claimed discussion with Putin at banquet was about adoption.

(There may be some truth to that - the adoption issue is tied to US sanctions against Russia and Russians. So it's a good euphemism.)

Please do correct me, folks, if I've got any of that wrong.

cozietoesie · 20/07/2017 12:58

Lordy, Perking. I'm just rolling with the punches here. Grin

cozietoesie · 20/07/2017 13:05

Mr Colbert from last night.

cozietoesie · 20/07/2017 13:07

In fact, MreHoolies, you could do worse than have yourself a little Colbert-fest at your leisure. Grin

MsHooliesCardigan · 20/07/2017 13:39

Thanks Perking so business as usual then?

PerkingFaintly · 20/07/2017 13:45

For the Trump dynasty, yep.

But I think not for supporters, who're having to crank up their own levels of denial and collusion - or drop out.

cozietoesie · 20/07/2017 13:46

The next month might be ........interesting, though. You timed your break well. Smile

cozietoesie · 20/07/2017 13:49

For your interest.

Playing with fire?

CaveMum · 20/07/2017 14:05

I have to ask, am I the only one who looks at Trump Jr and sees this?

He must have been a Spiv/carpet-bagger in a previous life Grin

I tend to see Jabba the Hut.

cozietoesie · 20/07/2017 14:14

All I can see is the hair gel.

lionheart · 20/07/2017 14:20

Yea, Sally. Smile

POTUS attack on Russia recusal reveals yet again his violation of the essential independence of DOJ, a bedrock principle of our democracy.

lionheart · 20/07/2017 14:21

I see Jabba too.

When I look at Don Jr all I can see is his Brylcreem'd slicked-back hair. With all his money you'd think he could afford a decent hair stylist. I know that's akin to focusing on a woman's hair style which is wrong, but when you are in a prominent position the way you look is supposed to be a reflection of your competency. And his hair screams 1980s Gordon Gecko "Greed is Good". It does NOT inspire confidence.

Jabba=Scrotus as far as looks go. But I'm still giggling over Chin-Frog.

Roussette · 20/07/2017 14:53

When I see Don Jr. and he's being interviewed, I can't get over how many of his mannerisms are like his Dads. And I also can't move on from the big game hunting photos of him and his horrible brother.

CaveMum · 20/07/2017 14:59

Oh yes it's the Brylcream hair that makes me think he looks like a Spiv!
