Dr Ranj Singh is copping a walloping on twitter from CA. He's engaging in a very polite and matter of fact way, but it's all so nasty.

GabsAlot · 12/07/2017 19:09

thy have some warped laws in th US

what maks me laugh though is that most agree with the death penalty

Yamayo · 12/07/2017 19:15

Ok I've just been on the Facebook page and I have found the most cynical despicable thing about this case I have read so far.

The lovely Mike Pence, American VP was on the Rush Limbaugh radio show (if you don't know Limbaugh Google him at your peril) and this is what he said about Charlie.

*That’s back in court today, and, frankly, we breathe a prayer and the hope that the single-payer system in England will see its way clear to allow the family — the mother and the father to be able to choose …the greatest extent of lifesaving treatment that’s available to their child instead of having to be submitted to a government program that says, ‘No, we’re going to remove life support from your precious 11-month-old child because the government has decided that the prospects of their life are such that they no longer warrant an investment in health services,’” Pence said.“

Let’s have a health care system that’s built on individual choice and free markets and state-based innovation reform,” he added.

Pence said that this was what the president was advocating for, but that “none of that happens unless we stop and turn around and head health care back in the direction of freedom.”

“That begins with the day that the United States Senate passes the bill before it today to repeal and replace Obamacare.*

smilingmind · 12/07/2017 19:16

OMG they think the Magna Carta can be used to save Charlie. Think they want to tell the barrister.
Plus there is some sort of fight going on between CA and the group Charlie's Angels, which they say was started by Connie and has family members in, about money and a big scam. Also CA are blaming CAngels because they have had posts deleted.
That's as much sense as I can make out of it.

Lelloteddy · 12/07/2017 19:16

And how long would the US have kept a terminally ill child alive on a ventilator in the first place?

lynsey91 · 12/07/2017 19:16

I would have thought if any new evidence had been presented the family would be full of it on facebook. Also the Mail would be saying it. I am almost certain there is no new evidence

AcrossthePond55 · 12/07/2017 19:18

Bore pretty much grandstanding.

States differ but immigrants don't qualify for state Medicaid. Perm Res 'may' depending on the state's laws. Some have time of residence requirements, some don't. But what all do have is a resource limit. Charlie won't qualify for diddly with 1.5 million in the bank. His parents would have to exhaust that before he'd qualify for any type of state aid.

I've not heard of a single medical facility here in the US who has said they'll accept him as a patient. Just that there is a doctor or doctors who have some experimental drug.

AcrossthePond55 · 12/07/2017 19:20

Lello As long as the family can pay for it OR the patient is determined to be brain dead

Cococrumble · 12/07/2017 19:21

There's a post on there thanking the parents for fighting for the armyCharlie really has just become an image for these people to "get one over on the system" hasn't he. Poor little lamb.

TheWeeWitch · 12/07/2017 19:21

@Yamayo your Pence post - golly

The American themed outfit Charlie was wearing was clearly in honour of his visitors that day:

Just say... they allow Charlie go to America this experimental drug will they be allowed to use it in America? Is it approved medication there??

goodbyestranger · 12/07/2017 19:25

I don't think there is a shred of genuinely new evidence simply on the grounds of what the QC for GOSH said on Monday. However, even if there is new evidence, assuming tomorrow is a hearing as opposed to simply the delivery of a judgment on written evidence alone, then the last thing the parents' barrister will want is for them to let the other side know what the line of argument will be by talking to the press or on social media. They need to keep any powder they have in their arsenal completely dry. I'm not in the least surprised no-one has said anything about the content of the 'new' evidence.

summerbreezer · 12/07/2017 19:26

Interesting,
I just went to look up Mr Justice Francis on his Chambers' website to see what other cases he's done recently
and they have had to remove him from their list of staff, presumably due to abuse. he is definitely missing as the page says 11 QCs and there are only 10 there

A judge ceases to be a member of chambers upon appointment to the bench, so I would not expect him to be there. I can see 11 QCs on that list.

29 Bedford Row are one of the top family law chambers in the country. If he comes from there, the man knows what he is talking about.

As a barrister, I am mortified to see the personal attacks on Kate Gollop QC. Apart from anything else, CA seem to have fundamentally misunderstood what a barrister does - we present our client's case! If your client is GOSH, then you fight for them to the best of your ability.

For all they know, Katie Gollop could be in CA.

11122aa · 12/07/2017 19:27

I cab see trump tweeting again soon and even attacking GOSH directly if that is said on Fox News.

SomeDyke · 12/07/2017 19:28

"what maks me laugh though is that most agree with the death penalty"
I was thinking that too. For a judge in the UK, a case like the current one is the only sort I can think of where it really is a 'life or death' (or death with dignity versus prolonged, over-extended, tortuous dying process) decision that a judge has to make. According to the law and according to the evidence. Considering the vilification being heaped on the professionals involved, whichever side they are on, compared to the casual manner that the death penalty is not just handed-down but actually enacted in several US states, where politicians are more than eager to use up their precious supplies of execution drugs before their use-by date.......................I'm bloody glad I'm not american, frankly!
I'm glad that we are seeing the process operating here, that the right decision will be made for Charlie, despite the mass madness on social media, and unprecedented pressures on the medical and legal professionals. This is what the laws were put in place for.

sodablackcurrant · 12/07/2017 19:28

Cool heads and warm hearts are so needed now.

I think the courts of justice rule by this and EVIDENCE.

But who knows.

summerbreezer · 12/07/2017 19:28

ust say... they allow Charlie go to America this experimental drug will they be allowed to use it in America? Is it approved medication there?

As I understand it, the drug is not approved anywhere yet. So poor Charlie will have to wait for that before he can go.

CA are on about reversing brain damage now..

Nquartz · 12/07/2017 19:28

I copied & pasted the lovely message a PP sent to GoSH earlier & sent it via Facebook messenger (I was in a rush so I cheated, I'm afraid) and got a love!y response. I emailed them too which they replied to, both replies didn't seem to be cut & paste jobs but they did include their latest statement regarding Charlie. I've tweeted them couple of times too which they liked& so did some ransoms.
It seems like so little but I really hope it helps even a tiny bit.

I do take solace in the fact that nothing has appeared in my Facebook feed relating to CA which I hope means no one I know is involved.

Zoflorabore · 12/07/2017 19:29

Been looking through CA and the way they operate if there was any prospect of new evidence presented today it would be all over there.
The family have now only got these almost 70,000 strangers egging them on.
They have exhausted all avenues of law and still cannot prove their case.
It's time for this to stop- for Charlie's sake, and I have no doubt in my mind that is what is going to happen tomorrow.

Ta1kinPeace · 12/07/2017 19:29

Yamayo
Pence is a nasty, dangerous piece of work.
Trump is a moron but Pence would be worse for the USA and the world

MoreProseccoNow · 12/07/2017 19:30

Yes, I really feel for Katie Gollop - the sheer nastiness & personal attacks on her from CA are deplorable. I can only imagine the stress she is under.

lynsey91 · 12/07/2017 19:32

Goodbyestranger, I wouldnt expect them to say what the evidence but they would be shouting from the rooftops I would think if they had submitted any

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 12/07/2017 19:32

Did read on Monday before the court hearing.. Hope the judge votes with his heart not his head..

Ermmm!!! That's now how things go

Think with a lot of people on there it's q case of being part of something..and others very oooo look at me I'm amazing doing this work. Do wonder how many believe what they read/write

goodbyestranger · 12/07/2017 19:35

Good luck to anyone who thinks they can mess around by threatening a top flight barrister. It would be the work of seconds to get them in the nick.

But actually I can't see any real danger issuing from a judgment re-iterating the order to move to palliative care. I don't think any of these people are much more than hot air and the US lot are just an utter disgrace, manipulating the situation for their own ends in such a blatant way. If the parents need to feel they've done all they can to help them accept their loss, then I think very few people could say they hadn't done absolutely everything in the book, even if plenty have doubts about it's wisdom or it's benefit to Charlie.
