Any lawyer who knows anything about judicial review knows that you don't threaten it unless you are ready to make your threat good, i.e. that you have all your evidence ready and waiting. Therefore the CA moan about the parents not having enough time to get their evidence together means either that the judicial review threat was a totally empty one, or that they didn't listen to their lawyers, or their lawyers are stupid. Whichever it was, GOSH were clearly right in effect to call their bluff.

TheWeeWitch · 12/07/2017 18:12

I wondered that too @Sostenueto

TartanDMs · 12/07/2017 18:14

WTF is a thunderclap by the way? I've heard it mentioned in two different contexts now, in CA and in my work setting, but I feel daft asking at work.

OhUnpretentiousSpud · 12/07/2017 18:14

Tartan I think it's CA speak for BIG NEWS!

I don't really know though to be hones!

smilingmind · 12/07/2017 18:17

You guessed right light

stitchglitched · 12/07/2017 18:21

I doubt anything substantial has been sent to court. I think the parents are attempting to create more outrage and delay by claiming this deadline is a stitch up, can't get his medical records etc. They are running out of options now, I wonder if they genuinely thought that all the publicity would be enough to make the judge backtrack. I don't think they expected to be told to put their money where their mouth is so to speak. Even on CA, posters saying who the hell does this Judge think he is asking for evidence, and why is it up to the parents to prove anything, when only a couple of days ago they were telling them to get in there and show the court all their proof. They will twist and change constantly in order to keep their narrative of parents-good, everyone else-bad going.

sodablackcurrant · 12/07/2017 18:21

No one is in charge here other than HQ.

It is ok to say that posts should not turn into a CA part two (IMO of course), but apart from that it is up to the bosses here.

So far these threads have been very measured. But it was getting a bit hairy there for a few minutes. I thought anyway.

So tomorrow morning it is at 10.30am.

The judge is the one I feel for. What a decision and what consequences based on his judgment. But it will be the right one. Whatever that may be. We have to trust our judiciary. Otherwise it is mayhem.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 12/07/2017 18:23

I think the mumsnet threads are mostly a haven of sanity, reason, and goodwill

I agree, which is why I'm still here

I choose not to go on Twatter - don't need that kind of mental pollution, frankly - and anyway the quotes on here have been hard enough to stomach Hmm

Rhodiolia · 12/07/2017 18:23

Thank you to all the mumsnetters who did a good deed today, you know who you are and it is much appreciated Flowers and I hope lonelymummy will be along soon with some good news.

I imagine the CA page will be at its absolute worst tomorrow, when the tweets from court start coming through.

BoreOfWhabylon · 12/07/2017 18:26

One of the two Congressmen who put forward the bill to allow the Gard family US residency is Trent Franks

According to Wikipedia, he seems to have spent most of his career trying to get abortion banned.

And yet
Franks and his wife, Josephine, have been married since 1980; they are members of the North Phoenix Baptist Church. Franks' wife, Josephine, is an immigrant. In August 2008, a donor egg and surrogate were used to give birth to their twins, Joshua Lane and Emily Grace
I do hope no little embryos were discarded during this process.

Still
In 2013, Franks was named named one of the ten weirdest Members of Congress.

I spent a lot of time Sunday putting angry faces on comments on the CA page and they have now blocked me. They are so pathetic. Any of the family that are on there should be ashamed of themselves

user1499282478 · 12/07/2017 18:27

How can you all now what is in Charlie's best interests????? Have you met him, no so unless your sitting by his bedside every second of the day how dare you call the shots on his life. 2 many kids die. (Lettheslatingmebegin)

NatashaGurdin · 12/07/2017 18:27

TartanDMs

There is something called 'Thunderclap' which is a way of getting the same message posted simultaneously at a certain day and time by lots of people on FB, Twitter and I think Instagram but I don't think CA are using it in this way?

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 12/07/2017 18:27

The muppets at CA USA have now posted that the nucleosides treatment is an additive used in cornflakes, and are suggesting that he is given a bowl to eat. SMH.

MommaGee · 12/07/2017 18:28

I know its mostly all mouth no trousers moms on CA threatening all sorts but i do worry about it spilling over to an actual idiot doing something. Hopefully tomorrows judgement can bring back some sanity (she says hopeful yet not convinced)

TartanDMs · 12/07/2017 18:29

Thanks natasha

sodablackcurrant · 12/07/2017 18:29

Migrants are arriving.

Trampire · 12/07/2017 18:30

Oh dear User. No slating from me.

The High Court Judge however is in the best place to decide what's best for him. You know, by having all the actual facts in front if him and al......

Trampire · 12/07/2017 18:31

Apologies for fat fingers and bad spelling.

goodbyestranger · 12/07/2017 18:31

Puzzled it would be extremely unwise to make any comment about the evidence produced ahead of tomorrow's hearing - their barrister will certainly have warned them off.

SocksBoatsAndQats · 12/07/2017 18:33

User Well personally, I probably don't. I really would like him not to suffer, for him not to be in pain or have to go through medical procedures which aren't beneficial. The medicine hasn't even been tested on mice, let alone humans with his type of mutation and stage of his illness. Would you let your baby have a treatment like that, the thought fills me with dread to be honest with you. I just hope whatever decision is made tomorrow is one that his parents will have peace with.

SumThucker · 12/07/2017 18:34

Calm down user.

DailyMailReadersAreThick · 12/07/2017 18:34

Let's all ignore any Barmies who turn up. As Mark Twain said, you can't argue with stupid.

Is anybody familiar with the Dax Cowart case? He's been on my mind lately. Different situation but he was very influential in fighting for patients' rights and changed medical ethics forever. He speaks very eloquently about his experiences.

lynsey91 · 12/07/2017 18:34

User no I havent met Charlie but anyone with the slightest intelligence can see by the pictures of him how ill he is. His body is so swollen. Also being blind, deaf, unable to move, unable to cry and in pain is not living. The poor baby should be allowed to be at peace
