Just had a quick look (it was all I could manage..) at the CA group on FB and someone has posted asking " where can she buy a Charlie Gard sticker for her car?"

Words fail me

Rhodiolia · 12/07/2017 16:33

Laura Gard just continues to whip them all up in a frenzy, doesn't she? Who is the guy she has posted about?

nina2b · 12/07/2017 16:33

Today 16:00 Sirzy

Nicki I would send it to her university.

Yes. As others have said, the attitude she displays is unacceptable, as of course is her inability to communicate in written English.

ChattyLion · 12/07/2017 16:34

Flowers Lonely that's a lovely update to read. (And Flowers to anonymous MNer) Best to your DD.

Imaweeble · 12/07/2017 16:34

Oh yes Wibbly they have an online shop where you can buy all of the "Charlie" merchandise!! Hmm One woman today made a vest for Charlie and when asked how much they were said they cost £6.99 with £1 going to the fund but all orders had to go through admin!

lougle · 12/07/2017 16:35

Is it really fair to be sending screenshots to universities? Some of these students are actually really very young and their naive compassion may simply have got the better of them, without the benefit of the balanced viewpoints a forum such as this has to offer. If she's posting that, and let's face it, it wasn't personal attack, then she's probably saying it, so someone can challenge her about it.

GOSH are quite capable of dealing with this situation, and I'm sure they don't need people hunting down 'inappropriate NHS employees' over this. They exist, the country over, but they were there long before the Charlie Gard case came along and they'll be there when this has long since been forgotten. Will you still be searching out inappropriate NHS employees' tweets and FB comments for their NHS Trusts then? If not, why now?

nina2b · 12/07/2017 16:35

And the hospital she is in presently. Sometimes universities are unwilling to challenge student attitude..

NikiBabe · 12/07/2017 16:36

Sod it does anyone know an email address for the nursing and midwifery council?

They dont have a facebook page.

Illiterate nurse needs reporting to the professional body.

Such behaviour is inexcusable.

A trainee solicitor was stripped of his training contract and barred from qualifying a few years ago for making inappropriate comments about the legal profession.

Age is no excuse. She will already have been lectured to on professional standards.

MommaGee · 12/07/2017 16:39

Wow diuretics for oedema- surely something GOSH have never tried before Confused

sodablackcurrant · 12/07/2017 16:39

Whilst I don't agree with the derogatory comments made against GOSH etc. I think some here are turning into the exact people they are castigating.

Getting worked up, looking for email addresses, facebook pages and getting their dander up big time.

Forget it please, it will be dealt with by others. I ignore the mad stupid awful comments, and concentrate on hoping the right decision will be made tomorrow for the dying child.

Libitina · 12/07/2017 16:39

CA members are now worried that being on morphine means Charlie will become addicted.

TheWeeWitch · 12/07/2017 16:40

Just did some idle googling to try to find out who the family's new spokesperson is - he's the one speaking for them in the Fox News interview. His name is Alasdair Seton-Marsden... UKIP Candidate for Kensington and Chelsea in the last general election : /

alpacasandwich · 12/07/2017 16:40

This thread is beginning to seem like a witch hunt.

You are being disingenuous. This is being played out on the public arena and that is the difference. Those people who are working within, or planning to work within, the NHS should be held accountable for their appalling contributions.

nina2b · 12/07/2017 16:41

...in the public arena

TheWeeWitch · 12/07/2017 16:42

I think the FB reporting is a good thing. I agree with you though, @alpacasandwich, that some posters here seem pretty worked up about hunting down and shaming the CA dimwits. It would be a shame for MN to shut down this thread.

stitchglitched · 12/07/2017 16:43

Are people personally profitting from the merchanise then? I assumed all the money was going to the fund bar costs. £1 from £6.99 doesn't seem like much.

HurtleTheTurtle · 12/07/2017 16:44

@Cococrumble Please don't send unmarked packages into PICU at GOSH, you could ask PALS for a contact there if they are willing to accept an item and pass it on.

I think security around PICU is possibly quite tight at the moment and an unordered parcel may cause issues.

theredjellybean · 12/07/2017 16:44

I have stayed away from this case as it is so upsetting. I feel so sorry for his parents who will look back on Charlie's last few days, no doubt, and wish they had spent every minute with him, not parading I front of the world's TV and social media.

I noted up thread the kind thoughts on the financial help the parents have had from ca supporters, and while I wouldn't begrudge any parent support when there child is ill, no one has mentioned the huge cost to the NHS to keep a child or adult alive on artificial ventilation. If treatment might work and it is ethical to try it then absolutely supporting life in this way is correct, so treatment can be given. However sadly in Charlie's case it has been established through the courts that nothing will change the outcome. The patents dragging this on is not only not in Charlie's best interests but from a wider perspective it is not in the publics best interest. I wonder if the parents would like to give some of the alleged 1.3 million they have received to gosh/ NHS to fund the continued life support?
I also wonder how the huns on ca would feel if their child was seriously ill and couldn't be found an intensive care bed because a child with absolutely no hope of any recovery was being artificially kept alive while his parents conducted a media circus? I think they might be a tad upset.
Harsh and sad though this case is, in the end we cannot sustain life artificially indefinitely... It's not in the patients best interests, the relatives best interests or the public / NHS best interests

nina2b · 12/07/2017 16:44

But you sit on your hands and do nothing, by all means. That is really useful.

alpacasandwich · 12/07/2017 16:47

How is feeding the drama with your own drama useful? Report inappropriate FB posts if you must, but contacting universities is spiteful.

BoreOfWhabylon · 12/07/2017 16:49

@AcrossthePond55

Perhaps when this madness regarding Charlie is all over, his parents may consider creating a charity or trust with some of that £1.5M to provide practical help to parents like Lonely. Small grants for meals, rooms, or help with transport home and back for parents with ill children and limited resources. I'm sure RMHouse could help them with setting it up or earmarking it and administrating it under their banner.

What a good idea!

On a separate note, is it possible for you to give us an update on the progress of the appeal/bill put forward this week by the two Republican congressmen to get US resident status for Charlie and his parents? I can't work out where to look for something authoritative.

nina2b · 12/07/2017 16:49

Not at all "spiteful". You reap what you sow.

smilingmind · 12/07/2017 16:50

Just got another email from Citizen Go asking me for a monthly donation of £15.
Will be carefully checking my bank statements in future. Maybe it is paranoia but really have no idea what other info they may have about me.
