When staff are being verbally abused and threatened online and whilst leaving work I cannot blame the other hospitals who are refusing to accept a transfer. I wouldn't want my staff being subjected to this either.

ShatnersWig · 12/07/2017 13:17

Nick Absolutely. Screenshot of offensive comments or violent comments alongside person's name is what must be sent. An angry face is not sufficient.

MirandaWest · 12/07/2017 13:17

What happens if there isn't any new evidence given in today?

Rabbitnothare · 12/07/2017 13:20

Nicknacky she is a support worker and not an officer so won't be reported to police professional standards.

She is in breach of their social media policy though and needs reporting.

Rabbitnothare · 12/07/2017 13:22

It's an angry face on a little girls story, raising money for GOSH. She has cystic fibrosis.

CaveMum · 12/07/2017 13:22

I've emailed Lothian NHS about that woman's comments in the CA page, along with a screenshot.

If you're stupid enough to make violent comments against another person AND have an open Facebook profile you deserve everything you get.

DarthMaiden · 12/07/2017 13:22

Another one who sent a message of support to GOSH and got a lovely reply back.

I'm glad to hear they are making a difference to staff.

MrsBotox · 12/07/2017 13:22

Sarah Vine and her ilk talk about 'a mother's instinct' and argue that parents have the ultimate right to decide what's best for their child.
You're not allowed to beat your child, leave him or her at home alone or refuse to send them to school - so the state already has a big say in how we treat our children. Her article today jumps on the 'it worked for me' bandwagon, entirely missing the point.

ShatnersWig · 12/07/2017 13:22

Miranda Then previous rulings all stand and GOSH can remove the ventilator and Charlie will be out of his suffering. The question is how long they will take to do so. They gave the parents a lot of time already, allowed them extra time because they said it didn't allow all the family to come and say goodbye, but the parents chose not to use it to spend time with Charlie but involve spurious pastors and keep going on the TV and radio and be interviewed. I would not allow any further delay, quite frankly. Charlie must be put first now. They already put the parents first more than enough.

Nicknacky · 12/07/2017 13:23

Professional standards in our area include support staff and would also investigate them. It is not a breach of social media policy but it's obviously your choice to report but don't expect much to happen.

zeezeek · 12/07/2017 13:23

I didn't want to put this in my previous message because I didn't want it deleted - but I think I'm going to be for the comments I am about to make.

I can see the frailty of the parents, however, at the risk of being a bitch, I also think that they are definitely dressing up for the cameras - Connie's hair has been recently dyed, her toenails painted, their clothes are new and pressed. I found a photo of my late partner and I with our son when he was dying in ICU 30 years ago - we both looked thin and ill, but what was apparent is that we hadn't time or care to make the effort to dress in clothes other than the ones we were in when our son was admitted, or what our families had brought us. They were ill fitting, unfashionable and we didn't even notice. I too had long blonde hair then - but it was matted and unwashed and pulled into a ponytail. My partner was the same.

I have seen other parents in that position and they were the same as us - not wanting to leave their children's side until the child was either out of danger or passed away.

I know it sounds really judgemental and I am sure that these two are not enjoying any moment of this - but it just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Nicknacky · 12/07/2017 13:25

And the person might have put the angry face about the girl having the condition rather than outrage at fundraising, IYSWIM?

BoreOfWhabylon · 12/07/2017 13:27

TheWeeWitch that's Alasdair Seton-Marshall. Can't find out much about him except that he stood as UKIP candidate for Chelsea and Fulham seat in 2017 and lost his deposit.

Another ultra right-winger lying through his teeth, pushing 'alternative facts' about this case and the NHS as a whole.

LapinR0se · 12/07/2017 13:27

I know zeezeek but you weren't being interviewed on national television.
They probably think they must present themselves well in order to be taken seriously. And that's ok.
Also if connie gets any small respite from the horror of the NICU or PICU by paintings her toes, then good for her.
I don't mind any of that stuff. I mind the blinkered thinking and the mob mentality and the sheer injustice of the threats being levelled at GOSH and the legal teams.
And most of all I mind that Charlie's suffering is being prolonged for nothing.

MirandaWest · 12/07/2017 13:27

ShatnersWig thank you. In that situation what would happen tomorrow - would it still happen? Not sure I paid enough attention to what was reported on Monday.

TheWeeWitch · 12/07/2017 13:29

Have just had a 10min FB reporting spree. Now feel much better.

While I was there I found another contender for the most Confused post -

"People like her liv there life's studding wiv there heads in a book but wen it actually comes to reality and eventually come back to earth there no nothing about real life real people family's god save this little boy."

hippogriffwobble · 12/07/2017 13:30

ihopeyousteponegopiece this is what stayed with me too - the ABSOLUTE care and compassion of the staff when my dd died - i have no doubt it affected them too. I have posted before about the junior doctor who stayed (after a 24 hour shift) to be there when she passed... he had been involved from her birth and he wanted to be there at the end. He was extraordinary - and there are medical professionals every day who go above and beyond... I have so much respect and gratitude for every single one of them.

And lonelymummy you and your dd are in my thoughts Flowers you are amazing.

zeezeek · 12/07/2017 13:30

LapinR0se - yes I appreciate that. However, I would not have wanted to have been interviewed for national TV as it would have been a massive invasion of our privacy and would have meant spending precious time away from my child.

It is all part of this sick circus around this child who needs to be let go.

Inmyownlittlecorner · 12/07/2017 13:31

I've been reading these threads but haven't posted because everything I feel has been said, but I have gone on FB & read some of the comments on the CA page & I'm in shock.
One of the comments was saying that they're treating Charlie as a minority & if he was a Muslim child none of this would have happened.
I'm astounded. I really can't believe what I've read. They're also saying that if Princess Di was here she'd sort it out. My mind has been boggled.

CaveMum · 12/07/2017 13:32

TheWeeWitch trying to read that comment makes my brain hurt Shock

TheHouseOfIllRepute · 12/07/2017 13:32

Hmm I get your point but the post is very definitely not about the condition
Even if they just have a word I'd be happy
I despair of adults acting like this
The CA group is barmy. See they've thrown racism into the mix now
For the main part uneducated white trash
I've seen more than one post similar to

' I no wot u r goin threw social services took my kids'
The spelling mistakes were in there

Justforthisthreadonly · 12/07/2017 13:32

Grr, I have just lost a long post.

My husband is a police Chief Constable of a UK force, he has a twitter account in a professional capacity.

I am not sure how unusual he is but he interacts a lot with people on social media.

He is keen on anything with might lead people to think that an office or civilian working for the force is endorsing an opinion to be reported.

Just another point of view, hope you don't mind me interjecting.

Trampire · 12/07/2017 13:32

Inmyownlittlecorner, yes it's pretty unbelievable.

Also, where's the Queen because she 'owns' the country and is in charge of everything.

TheWeeWitch · 12/07/2017 13:33

Now, I know that Richard Dawkins is a proper wally sometimes, but that last CA quote I posted brought to mind this Dawkins quote:

"Faith is the great cop-out, the great excuse to evade the need to think and evaluate evidence. Faith is belief in spite of, even perhaps because of, the lack of evidence"

MarthasHarbour · 12/07/2017 13:33

zeezee I agree with you whole heartedly. Flowers to you and your family xx
