(Lighthearted) To get a bit miffed when people who aren't petite shop in the petite section

Is that even a valid reason

OP posts:
Grilledaubergines · 10/07/2017 23:29

polly yes you absolutely should have, under the Op's strict rules.Grin

SaucyJack · 10/07/2017 23:31

So you think petite sections should be protected spaces then?

What if those 5'8 girls identified as being 4'11? Is it tall privilege?

PollyFlint · 10/07/2017 23:31

I don't care if you're large or not. I was talking about the two 5"8 + girls and those that are generally that height

But why would it bother you? Maybe they want a skirt that comes up shorter than the one in the main section, or they really like a pair of jeans but would prefer them to fit like cropped ones for summer? I don't understand why that would annoy you.

arsenicistheanswer · 10/07/2017 23:31

DD is 5'6" and has a 34" inside leg. She shops in petite for tips because otherwise they drown her.

e1y1 · 10/07/2017 23:33

Adds (lighthearted) and means anything but. Go figure?

Same here, small height and short legs, but size 16/18.

Honestly, do you notice who is shopping where?

I ignore everyone in a shop ignorant, I'm there for stuff, not people.

paxillin · 10/07/2017 23:33

Bloody hell, good to see the "lighthearted" was understood by all, OP.

Flyinggeese · 10/07/2017 23:37

Why are people saying this is fat bashing?

OP I am 5' 4" and too tall (ha!) for the petite ranges but some exclusive petite range clothes are so lovely I sometimes give a top a try on in hope...

Why does it bother you?

GreyHare · 10/07/2017 23:38

I'm a 14/16 and a shortarse, I hate that Petite ranges are called Petite, why can't they just be short, like Tall is Tall, as surely if Short is Petite then Tall should be Huge or something grrrr, but I get you kind of OP.

paxillin · 10/07/2017 23:39

I am sometimes try dresses in normal and petite to see which length looks better.

NoSquirrels · 10/07/2017 23:40

Seems an odd thing to get riled by, OP, unless you're going to say they bought the last top in the size you wanted?

ijustwannadance · 10/07/2017 23:42

I buy tall clothes designed for 5'9+.
I am not tall, but long bodied and it's the only way I can get clothes where the waistband actually sits on my waist and not 2 or 3 inches too high.

I think OP meant "The petite ranges are in short (sorry Grin) supply. If you are tall enough to have no idea what having a Cumberland sausage sized upturn on all your trousers and render every t-shirt a tunic is like, please leave them for us short ones."

No need to turn all combative about this at all. Unless I am completely mistaken and OP meant to insult all those not petite.

MrsJayy · 11/07/2017 00:00

Maybe the 5ft8 girls have short bodies or something why does it bother you where people shop. Im 4ft 11 and shop pettite and regular sizing id hate for a thread with oh there was a short woman buying normal size clothes for a start it makes no sense

MrsJayy · 11/07/2017 00:02

I also hate it is called pettite short would do.

TattyCat · 11/07/2017 00:04

I wouldn't even notice anyone else shopping, let alone how tall or not they are!

Op, are you a bit bored by life?

TattyCat · 11/07/2017 00:06

Ha, ha! I've just realised that DP has the same problem in that he has a long body and short legs. Do men's clothing have a 'petite for men' range and if not, why not? Have I hit on genius tonight???!!!

TattyCat · 11/07/2017 00:06

Perhaps not named 'petite for men' though.... Grin

Teddy1970 · 11/07/2017 00:08

Petite clothes are made for women who are 5ft 4 or under, nothing to do with dress sizes all. I'm 5ft 10 and wouldn't be bothered if I saw a 5ft 1 woman shopping in Long Tall Sally...

paxillin · 11/07/2017 00:10

Have I hit on genius tonight???!!! I bet men wouldn't buy stuff called small, short or petite.

paxillin · 11/07/2017 00:11

Perhaps call the short range "tall", the average range "gigantic" and the tall range "goliath", TattyCat.

GlitterGlassEye · 11/07/2017 00:14

When I was younger (I'm 5ft 7) I would get t-shirts from the petite section as I liked to show off very flat (pre-dc) belly.

There you go.

Ilikedogs · 11/07/2017 00:17

The more people that shop the petite clothes (or tall etc) the more choice you will get. Less people buying means less budget put into that range.

mohuzivajehi · 11/07/2017 00:18

Wtf is it your business??
Why does it even bother you?

People have different body shapes. I have to buy tops in "tall people" specialist sections and trousers in "short people" specialist sections, and am about average height. I expect there are others who are the other way around.

TattyCat · 11/07/2017 00:18

Have I hit on genius tonight???!!!

I bet men wouldn't buy stuff called small, short or petite.

No, but that's my point! What would be acceptable? They have the same problem that we do but it's not addressed much.
