How many children would you have ideally?

I mean ideally as in no time/age/money/fertility/cultural conventions/partner/lack of support etc barriers. How many would you have/have had?
For me.. about 6 or 7. I have two and one on way but have always loved the idea of big family.

If you'd asked me before kids I'd have said four. Now I have my children the answer has changed to two...

OvariesForgotHerPassword · 11/07/2017 10:59

We have one, are TTC #2 and I'd like four I think.

Alcea · 11/07/2017 11:03

4, in a heart beat.
We have 3. Undecided about another, mainly due to financial worries.

araiwa · 11/07/2017 11:05

2 seems perfect

1 i would worry about them being alone. 3 or more just makes things less and less practical in so many ways

weresquirrel · 11/07/2017 11:07

One.

FuckyDuck · 11/07/2017 11:09

4

notfromstepford · 11/07/2017 11:14

4 if I was younger, had money and was a SAHM.

I have 2 which I'm bloody grateful for and we're sticking at that. It's a great number (that's what I keep telling myself anyway - my biological clock is screaming at me to have more !)

demirose87 · 11/07/2017 11:15
  1. I'm pregnant with number 4, I'll have 2 girls and 2 boys and that's perfect for me, so I'll be sterilised after this one
TabascoToastie · 11/07/2017 12:34

Ideally I'd like one and for it to be a daughter.

OhhBetty · 11/07/2017 12:48

I'd love a football team tbh!
But I have one and will only have one. He is my world though and I'm so incredibly thankful for him.

DarylDixonsJockstrap · 11/07/2017 12:49

1 and we have 1. Have no desire for any more as life is pretty perfect as we are.

JungleInTheRumble · 11/07/2017 13:14

I'd love four as I grew up in a big family and loved it. My partner would prefer two.

BlahBlahBlahEtc · 11/07/2017 13:19

I want 4.

I wish I could have 4. I love my dd to pieces but she's starting school in a year and I'm already missing having a baby at home!

mortificado · 11/07/2017 13:20

2 (I have 3, no4 on the way) Grin
And that will definitely be it!

firawla · 11/07/2017 13:39

I've always said I wanted four, and I have four. If I really had unlimited time and space then I'd maybe go a couple more, but happy enough with four.
I have 3 boys and a girl, so if it would be guaranteed a girl I'd maybe have five so that my dd could have a sister to grow up with

corythatwas · 11/07/2017 13:41

Once wanted 3, but since health issues became apparent now very happy with the 2 I have. Don't drive, so car not the same issue.

arsenicistheanswer · 11/07/2017 13:44

I always thought it would be 4. We got to three though, and realised it was perfect for us. No regrets!

Treesinbloom · 11/07/2017 14:51

I have 2.

DH wants 3. In an ideal world I'd like to make that wish come true but in reality I just couldn't cope - my health problems, plus lack of family support...

Wreckingball25 · 11/07/2017 16:45

I was envious of a mum who had five in a magazine feature the other day... Blush
I've one DD (seven months) and would love at least one more, but it will probably just be the one due to my age (38).

FfionFlorist · 11/07/2017 16:46

I have 3, would have loved 4 ( or more) but am only earner and so mat leaves were very expensive. More money would have meant more babies.

MaryShelley1818 · 11/07/2017 16:49

I'm 18wks pregnant with my first at 39yrs old!
Ideally I would love 2 children but if he is all we have time for I will feel exceptionally lucky we got the chance for our one little boy.

RubaDubMum89 · 11/07/2017 16:55

I always wanted two. Then I had DD who just happened to be the most horrific pregnancy and birth ever, so I'm sticking with one!

TurquoiseOwl · 11/07/2017 17:04

3, I think. However, I think 2 would be more realistic (I can't imagine ever earning a fortune and I like to have a bit of disposable income!) but I'm still a student, so I have no idea what the future looks like!

I don't think I'd want more than 3 though! No matter what the situation!

catlover1987 · 11/07/2017 17:24

I used to think 2 but if I ever get pregnant, I think I'll be so delighted I'll just stop at 1.

lizzieoak · 11/07/2017 17:30

If I'd had a lovely, loving, sober husband? Four I think, certainly 3. I have two wonderful kids, but I would have liked more.
