Neighbours children playing in communal car park

I came out into my garden this morning with a cup of coffee to be met by the sound of a couple of neighbours dc playing football in the small parking area out the back. They've put wheelie bins out as the net.

I bloody love it!

We've been here 11 years and nobody has ever done it until earlier this summer I let my dds go out on their scooters. I sit in our small garden (all gardens are small) and can hear them play but it's the first year I've felt they're old enough and reliable enough not to hit the cars. Now other dc are doing the same and I love it. It's a summer morning and the sound of dc playing is exactly what I should be able to hear.

Finally the neighbourhood is coming out to play and we're about to move house!

What's your AIBU?

m0therofdragons · 09/07/2017 11:18

Oh really? Okay I'll make it more obvious:

Aibu to actually love the sound of dc playing early on a Sunday morning even with a ball constantly hitting a wall?

Janeinthemiddle · 09/07/2017 11:20

If it's your house's wall and you love it then no. Not sure why it's even a question.

CrochetBelle · 09/07/2017 11:20

YANBU.

I love the sound of kids playing out too Grin

StoorieHoose · 09/07/2017 11:22

All sounds wonderful until someone's car is dented by the football.

Biker47 · 09/07/2017 11:23

If I had to park in a communal car park and kids were outside playing football there I'd be pissed off.

m0therofdragons · 09/07/2017 11:24

Just fancied a nice aibu on a sunny day. Plus I usually read people moaning on here.

OP posts:
m0therofdragons · 09/07/2017 11:25

You don't have to, could park on the road. Kids are being considerate and no cars are dented.

StoorieHoose · 09/07/2017 11:25

Surely aibu is for moaning not for nice aibu? A bit of an oxymoron a nice aibu

vikingprincess81 · 09/07/2017 11:26

Kids should be playing out, I love to hear/see it too - nope YANBU GrinBrew enjoy your cuppa!

Summerswallow · 09/07/2017 11:27

Sounds very sociable, live and let live is required if children are to play out.

Janeinthemiddle · 09/07/2017 11:31

Ah right! I thought you might be leaning towards something else!

I do enjoy hearing kids playing outside too but perhaps not in a communal car park.

Allthebestnamesareused · 09/07/2017 11:32

It's Ok OP there will plenty of people along to moan about the notion of children having fun and people being glad about it soon enough.

PickleSarnie · 09/07/2017 11:34

You don't have to, could park on the road

The thing about carparks though is that the clue is in the name. It's where you "park" your "car". Why in earth should anyone have to park on the road?!

PickleSarnie · 09/07/2017 11:35

And I'm not against the noise of children playing. It's just that a carpark isn't the place for it.

GinGeum · 09/07/2017 11:36

It is lovely to hear children playing out, but football is not a game for a car park. Unless they are rolling the ball to each other, they can't possibly have full control of the ball's direction.

Samcro · 09/07/2017 11:45

yanbu about kids playing, but yabu letting them play in a car park

m0therofdragons · 09/07/2017 11:55

To be fair, I wouldn't let my dc play football out there but I let them go on their scooters and heeleys with instructions to stay in the middle and not near cars. I would assume I'd be responsible if a car was damaged by my dc. Still, it didn't bother me and they were kicking the ball away from cars. If they played in their small garden there's probably more chance of it going over the fence and hitting a car as that's where the cars are parked.

YANBU about kids playing, but YABU letting them play in a car park.

Ignoring the safety aspect, you expect cars to park on the road, and admit you wouldn't let your own DC play football there as you don't want to be liable for an damage caused!

Very neighbourly Hmm

Gingerandgivingzerofucks · 09/07/2017 13:48

I'd go mad if there were kids playing footie in the car park. We have a sign saying no ball games in ours. It's not an appropriate or safe place for children to play.

UterusUterusGhali · 09/07/2017 13:49
Hmm

I hate the neighbour's kids playing in the car park. It's dangerous. They've nearly been hit countless times and I have marks on my car from bicycle handlebars.

Of course I'd never let my children play around cars. That's fucking stupid.

TeaCake5 · 09/07/2017 13:52

Bet your neighbours are glad you are moving op. Sound like you are noisy and don't care about it.

MyheartbelongstoG · 09/07/2017 14:21

Christ almighty some many fuckers on here.

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 09/07/2017 14:23
