To really dislike Andy Murray?

I just can't warm to him, I've really tried but I just can't. I don't want him to win Wimbledon. AIBU and unpatriotic?

I remembered this thread and was going to post about him correcting "journalists" on their casual sexist remarks too!! He's unfortunaly had to do it too many times. PS - I love Andy Murray!

To really dislike Andy Murray?

What did the idiot ask? (Not Andy, obviously...!)

nina2b · 12/07/2017 20:35

I love him. Didn't whine about the hip either.

Ropsleybunny · 12/07/2017 20:42

He lost today, was in pain, yet still stopped by to sign autographs. I love Andy Murray, he's a hardworking, supreme athlete and a fine example as a role model.

DotForShort · 12/07/2017 20:46

Andy Murray is a terrific player and I'm a bit disappointed he lost. But Sam Querrey played brilliantly!

Another none Murray fan here. He's a terrific player but lacks charisma IMO.
I suspect he employed a cracking PR firm a few years ago.
Smiley Tsonga or twinkly eyed Simon are my choices.

I follow him on Twitter. He can be very funny. If you actually follow tennis at all and have seen him interviewed, you can't have missed him being funny unless you literally have no sense of humour - yes, sometimes it's very dry, other times it's evidently not and the whole room laughs.

AmIthatbloodycold · 13/07/2017 08:43

His "charisma" is fine with me. A kind, thoughtful, mischievous, cheeky, principled, passionate, focussed family man who is not afraid to say what he thinks.

What's not to like?

AmIthatbloodycold · 14/07/2017 15:30

I see Serena Williams has commented on Andy and how well loved he is. Smile

nina2b · 14/07/2017 19:12

Williams, a 23-time Grand Slam champion, told ESPN: 'There really shouldn't be a female athlete that is not totally supportive of Andy Murray.

'He has spoken up for women's issues and women's rights, especially in tennis, for forever. He does it again.'

She added: 'That's who he is, that's one thing that we love about him.

'He has such a wonderful mother, who's been such a strong figure in his life.

'He's done so much for us on our tour, so we love Andy. We love Andy Murray.'

VeryButchyRestingFace · 14/07/2017 19:45

A tennis GOAT said that about Murray.

The question is settled.

Grin😍🎾

RiversDisguise · 14/07/2017 23:27

I like Djokovic and Nadal.

Murray seems unpleasant.

Federer seems like a serial killer.

MajesticWhine · 14/07/2017 23:39

YABU, I love Andy. Can't bear smuggy Federer or Djokovic.

ladybirdsarelovely33 · 14/07/2017 23:39

VeryButchyRestingFace
Thank you for this. I know have new found huge respect for Andy Murray.

ladybirdsarelovely33 · 14/07/2017 23:44

RiversDisguise How can you say that about Roger? He can do no wrong- smooth, elegant, charismatic, generous- many philanthropic causes. He is amazing. Halo
Know any serial killers like that?

nina2b · 15/07/2017 01:07

Federer is very very dull and I do not get the adulation. He bores me. His wife is a shrew who never smiles. Rafa is lovely and always sporting. But Murray is the main man and he rocks.

MistressDeeCee · 15/07/2017 01:22

I like him. He's a sportsman. He doesnt play "chase media headlines". Seems a decent family man. Thats more than good enough for me.

TheDowagerCuntess · 15/07/2017 04:32

Federer is dull as shit.

And every time he loses, he always has to get some comment in during the post-match interview, about an injury, or an off day, or some other toss about him playing sub-par. Rather than giving credit where credit's due, to his opponent.

midnightmisssuki · 15/07/2017 04:51

He's a tennis player - he plays tennis well. What do you want him to do - do a stand up before every match? Perhaps a small jig so he's more 'Likeable?'. He's good at what he does - and that's all that matters, surely? Poor AM - he can't really win can he, quite certain you not like him is not going to cause him great unrest either OP Confused Bizarre thread.

MistressDeeCee · 15/07/2017 05:01

A great and talented sportsman, disliked as he doesnt smile enough and isnt a popularity chasing media hound with pics of himself and family touted and constantly on show. So shallow, in the face of his achievements. Saying you dont take to him I could understand. But I really don't like him and want him to lose...oh dear. Challenges sexism then wins a match...but its not enough for some. See if you can get to a match then get near enough to him so you can bellow "come on luv cheer up, give us a smile"

PoppyFleur · 15/07/2017 07:49

Excellent post midnight I agree with every word.

LouiseBrooks · 15/07/2017 09:34

I used to like Federer then I saw one post match interview (Wimbledon final, can't remember if he won or lost or who he played but he'd won several times by then. I know it wasn't Murray) and he just sounded so patronising I instantly went right off him there and then.

I really like his style of play but just don't get the love. Give me Murray any day.
