Neighbour spray painting pavement for their access

My neighbour has spray painted the pavement next to my house outside theirs and put a passive aggressive note up about the dropped curb. Yes it is a dropped curb but the council have not put a single or double yellow. The access is pedestrian gated rather than a driveway. AIBU I don't agree with them marking out the road. My car wheel is slightly over because the on street parking is always completely choc a block. They don't have a car and we all pay over £200 per yr for a council permit.

Far as I know a drop curb has to be kept free, they can be put infront of pedestrian access for wheelchair use etc. Could be completely wrong of course, I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will be along shortly.

Floralnomad · 07/07/2017 18:01

You cannot park over a dropped curb , or even part of it so YABU , that said they shouldn't be painting either , they should just take photos every time you block / obscure their dropped kerb and report you .

MeanAger · 07/07/2017 18:01

Is it a drop curb for pedestrians to safely cross the road? You can't block those!

Hoppinggreen · 07/07/2017 18:02

Yes, you can't park over a dropped kerb

JigglyTuff · 07/07/2017 18:03

If that is your wheel, your car is hanging a long way over the dropped kerb

PotteringAlong · 07/07/2017 18:04

You're in the wrong here.

HipsterHunter · 07/07/2017 18:04

What everyone else said! You can't park over a dropped curb.

SerfTerf · 07/07/2017 18:05

They don't have a CAR!? ShockConfused

What do they want to do on the road then? Nap?

SerfTerf · 07/07/2017 18:06

But yes, a dropped kerb is a dropped kerb.

Do you think they're putting the house on the market? It's a lot of fuss for a non car-owner to go to otherwise.

GreenHillsOfHome · 07/07/2017 18:09

YABU.

Plenty of dropped kerbs in my area don't have double yellows...it's irrelevant. You don't park over a dropped kerb.

Floralnomad · 07/07/2017 18:11

Perhaps they want access for relatives etc , the fact they don't have a car makes no difference at all.

Hallomiaddicted · 07/07/2017 18:12

So there is just an unused space outside of their house for no reason constantly and that's fine?! It's not a pedestrian crossing it's just their gateway into the house. Other side of the road is normal with parked cars all along.

Sorry you are in the wrong!

Slightlyperturbedowlagain · 07/07/2017 18:15

Round here the traffic wardens ticket those parked even partly in front of dropped kerbs, including the single width ones which are to allow access for wheelchairs/mobility scooters.

Allthebestnamesareused · 07/07/2017 18:16

Are you sure they spray painted it as it looks like when the council does it?

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 07/07/2017 18:20

That looks like council markings. They sometimes do these "pencil marks" prior to the white line machine coming along so that liners know where to mark.
Maybe you're about to get yellow lines

GraciesMansion · 07/07/2017 18:21

They haven't spray painted that. That's been done by the council in preparation for when the road painters come along. It's tellin them what lines need to be painted where. You're about to lose your parking spot.

Yabu.

InfiniteSheldon · 07/07/2017 18:22

Those are council painted lines and yabu

MeanAger · 07/07/2017 18:22

I agree, that's for the council. You're about to get some of those lines you were enjoying not having.

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 07/07/2017 18:23

If your neighbour was doing pretend markings, they would have done more than that

WipsGlitter · 07/07/2017 18:23

Yup, council markings for double yellow lines.

rollonthesummer · 07/07/2017 18:24

Surely you shouldn't be parking 'just over' their dropped curb??

ExplodedCloud · 07/07/2017 18:29

You're getting marked parking bays and either single or double yellows across the dropped kerb.

CrochetBelle · 07/07/2017 18:31

It does look like possible council markings, or contractors.

It's none of your goddamn business why they need the lowered kerb, but you don't park across it!

What did the 'p/a' note say?
