Neighbour spray painting pavement for their access

My neighbour has spray painted the pavement next to my house outside theirs and put a passive aggressive note up about the dropped curb. Yes it is a dropped curb but the council have not put a single or double yellow. The access is pedestrian gated rather than a driveway. AIBU I don't agree with them marking out the road. My car wheel is slightly over because the on street parking is always completely choc a block. They don't have a car and we all pay over £200 per yr for a council permit.

What everyone else said. You're in the wrong and those are council markings. And if that's your idea of slightly over I'd hate to see your idea of parking in a tight spot.

SnickersWasAHorse · 07/07/2017 18:35

I agree with PP that they look like council lines.

Also dropped curbs are for wheelchair users, mobility scooter users, and push chairs. Not just cars.

Whosthemummynow · 07/07/2017 18:35

That's slightly over 😂 jesus!
You could also be slightly nearer the kerbside also.....

SnickersWasAHorse · 07/07/2017 18:37

It looks like it is newly tarmaced there.
I think the marks are for the council to come and paint double yellows etc.

SerfTerf · 07/07/2017 18:38

Council markings makes much more sense Grin

WatchingFromTheWings · 07/07/2017 18:40

You're in the wrong. It's a dropped kerb. You can't part their, either wholly or partially.

Redsippycup · 07/07/2017 18:47

You can't park over a dropped kerb, that includes your bumper, not just your wheels. You can get a ticket for that, even if the wheels are inside the bay.

Your neighbour didn't paint those lines, they are so the road paint people know what to paint on the road soon. Double yellows to the right and parking bay to the left.

YABU

NaiceToMeetYou · 07/07/2017 19:01

If you wheel is that much past the mark then the front/back bumper must be loads over. Yabu.

NicolasFlamel · 07/07/2017 19:09

Yeah that's the council. Biscuit

krustykittens · 07/07/2017 19:16

So there is just an unused space outside of their house for no reason constantly and that's fine?!

It's not an unused space, it is a DROPPED KERB and you cannot park over it, even a little bit. YABU.

Migraleve · 07/07/2017 19:16

Omg haha

FATEdestiny · 07/07/2017 19:18

There are two marks- yellow and white.

Are we to assume the yellow marks the start of yellow lines and the white mark will be a marked parking bay, or similar?

Won't the white bit still be over a dropped kerb? But allowing parking? How does that work?

HeresMe · 07/07/2017 19:19

I do sometimes wonder if people even read the Highway Code before doing Thier driving test

youaredeluded · 07/07/2017 19:48

You are parking illegally.

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 07/07/2017 19:49

Your entire car needs to be clear of the dropped kerb, not just the wheels

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 07/07/2017 19:54

Can you block your own dropped kerb?

Deux · 07/07/2017 19:56

Funny thread. Flexible definition of just a little bit over.

Well OP it looks like being a little bit over pretty soon will result in you getting a ticket.

Agree with PPs it does look like council markings.

WatchingFromTheWings · 07/07/2017 20:07

Can you block your own dropped kerb?

It's not your kerb. It belongs to the council as does the pavement. If you have a kerb outside your house you still cannot park across it.

BlahBlahBlahEtc · 07/07/2017 20:08

they haven't spray painted that. That's been done by the council in preparation for when the road painters come along. It's tellin them what lines need to be painted where. You're about to lose your parking spot

This.

IndianaMoleWoman · 07/07/2017 20:13

I need to hear what this note said.

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 07/07/2017 20:15

I wonder if the "passive aggressive note" is the yellow F!

Onthehighseas · 07/07/2017 20:16

It's KERB.

Irrelevant, but bleddy annoying all the same...

IndianaMoleWoman · 07/07/2017 20:16

Breakfast is the yellow F going to become a thing? Do we need an emoji?!

MeanAger · 07/07/2017 20:17

Irrelevant, but bleddy annoying all the same.

The irony...

CrochetBelle · 07/07/2017 20:17

The passive aggressive note is probably a letter from the frigging council Grin
