AIBU to feel the drama over this poor little boy is not helpful? I read the Pope and Donald Trump were suggesting they help- when several courts have agreed it is in his best interests to let the little boy die with dignity. I feel sorry for him as he may be in pain and it is unfair to add further to false hope for the parents as well. I also feel that many, many people has awful situations where babies die, sadly, for example stillbirths and other cases which are just un-heard and un-noticed and people have to deal with it, so why is there such a huge focus here.

Has Linda robson turned up yet?

MorrisZapp · 06/07/2017 17:34

All he said is that he sympathises with the parents. Everybody sympathises with the parents. Total non story from the DM.

Maudlinmaud · 06/07/2017 17:40

Morris I think he said slightly more than that, but agree it's worded carefully. It could be read as ambiguous or loaded depending on your stance. Maybe I'm wrong.

JonSnowsWhore · 06/07/2017 17:43

Someone thinks they've just got a retweet from Justin Bieber. That is not Justin Bieber...

Redglitter · 06/07/2017 17:45

I wonder if Trump will go quiet on the subject after his meeting with the PM. Hopefully once she explains - in words of one syllabul - the situation, the legalities etc he might realise it's none of his business. Be interesting to see if he's still CA hero if he goes quiet

GinSoakedTwitchyPony · 06/07/2017 17:48

Bieber, nearly as good as jiveArsenal.

Hippo Flowers xxx

On the pain issue, the judgement also said that he is having repeated seizures - only his parents won't see them because his muscles have wasted away. But the effects of those seizures will cause pain and further damage.

I get increasingly upset about how inhumane it is keeping him in this condition. I can't blame his parents, but surely the time has come to let him go in peace.

SilverLining17 · 06/07/2017 17:53

www.google.co.uk/amp/www.birminghammail.co.uk/news/uk-news/jeremy-corbyn-fully-understands-treatment-13292406.amp

I feel the implication is very much he understands why the parents want the treatment and would facilitate it if he could. Hence political point scoring.

x2boys · 06/07/2017 17:55

people need to stop using this little boy as a political plaything it helps no one certainly not charlie people seem to have forgot about charlie

GinSoakedTwitchyPony · 06/07/2017 17:58

One of them has made a video of her eight year old daughter making a mini protest and saying "I'm afraid of going to your hospital because you might take me away from my parents".

mydogisthebest · 06/07/2017 17:59

Ceto, I have said before and will say again that I don't understand why GOSH are delaying it. They were meant let Charlie go last Friday but agreed to let his parents have some more time to say their goodbyes. I thought they said the weekend.

Now almost another week has gone by and day by day the media circus gets worse. I think there should be a press and tv blackout on the story now as it's becoming ridiculous with more and more people having to have their say: the Pope, Trump, Corbyn, Cher, that bloody awful Katie Hopkins.

Redglitter · 06/07/2017 18:06

Ceto, I have said before and will say again that I don't understand why GOSH are delaying it

Totally agree. They said a couple of days to allow the family all to say goodbye.

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 06/07/2017 18:08

Those protests are amazing! That's like with Saturday 'oooo look how many turned up' ermm most of those are passing tourists. Hardly the mass crowd they were expecting to turn up and share their love

GinSoakedTwitchyPony · 06/07/2017 18:11

Totally agree, mydog.

GinSoakedTwitchyPony · 06/07/2017 18:14

Kiteee have they got a lot of them at Downing Street? I can't get on their page at the moment, I think the 'protest' was due to start at 6pm.

53rdWay · 06/07/2017 18:16

Don't know why GOSH are delaying it either but always worth keeping in mind that we (rightfully) don't know the ins and outs of his care and current condition. For all we know, his condition has now deteriorated to a point where they no longer think he's suffering or feeling pain, so more time to work with the family on reaching agreement.

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 06/07/2017 18:17

For what can see not really. A fair few but considering how many members they have and that expect a lot more. They have a chant as well and have dragged their children along..lovely

Oogle · 06/07/2017 18:20

Someone has just asked "is Theresa away?"

For the last 2 days they've been posting about Trump grilling her at the G20 summit...and where is the G20 summit being held?

(Clue: not in the UK)

WhiteCat1704 · 06/07/2017 18:24

I think they are delaying it as if they just let him die when the whole world is watching their reputation might die too. As far as I know they relay heavily on donations and some of the main sponsors have threatened to withdraw the support over this.

If Charlie really experiances continues pain than he should be let go..the problem is NOBODY knows or can prove that.

MumIsRunningAMarathon · 06/07/2017 18:26

Which main sponsors have threatened to withdraw sponsorship whitecat?

DeleteOrDecay · 06/07/2017 18:27

According to the CA fanatics he can't possibly be in pain because they haven't put him on any pain medication.Hmm

User843022 · 06/07/2017 18:30

'According to the CA fanatics he can't possibly be in pain because they haven't put him on any pain medication.'
Well I'm certainly not a CA fanatic but I can see how it gives the parents mixed messages if that is the case.

LogicalPsycho · 06/07/2017 18:34

"If he's still fighting, we're still fighting"

I am sorry to say this, but if Charlie was fighting, he would not need to be on Life Support.
His condition has progressively deteriorated to where he is now- his body is trying to be at peace. It is these machines are the ones preventing his body from doing that.
My heart goes out to the Doctors that are being forced to keep him in this way, fighting against the inevitable, knowing what they do medically.

Charlie's Army are actually fighting against Charlie. In fact, they are fighting against the last thing that his poor body is capable of independently.
I just wish they could see that.

RMC123 · 06/07/2017 18:45

Whitecat quick Google and I can find no evidence of sponsorship being withdrawn. And they are a hospital; their priority is to the wellbeing of patients not sponsors
And is pain the only reason we should think that Charlie should be allowed to die with dignity? How about quality of life? That surely can't be disputed as he is keep alive purely by machine as his body shuts down.
