To wonder if social services are involved?

I'll probably get flamed for this but finding the whole situation desperately sad for the child(ren?) involved. Who does this and in the full glare of the media too, I'm getting that they are two damaged individuals but come on, this is awful if true!

She's pregnant again ?!!!!

I remember when she was first pregnant with her DS, receiving loads of harsh comments towards her. I felt sorry for her but admired her as she seemed to be doing well in her pregnancy without Jeremy around.

Just shows that you really don't know what goes on in people's lives.

Maudlinmaud · 05/07/2017 20:37

He says she hit him in the face with a bed post and it knocked him unconscious.
This saga has been going on for far too long and now there is allegedly another child in the making.
I hope to goodness SS are invloved for the children's sake at least.

Whoareyouu · 05/07/2017 20:37

Poor babies

WillRikersExtraNipple · 05/07/2017 20:37

What is your stance on illegal drug taking when pregnant Will?
Will have you seen the consequences of foetal alcohol syndrome? Why would you wish that on a child just so that their mother can get wasted sad

I think you have hugely missed my point. How I feel about FAS is beside the point. Of course I wouldn't wish it on anyone, don't be ridiculous.

You don't disagree with me, if you actually think for a moment. To disagree with me means you think women should be forcibly stopped from living their lives as they choose while they are pregnant. You would have to lock them up for 9 months.
Now, unless you think that is a good thing to do, you actually agree with me. Do you follow?

To be even clearer (because you appear to be struggling): I personally think drinking in pregnancy is A Bad Thing, same with drugs, etc etc. But my feelings are not relevant and neither are yours. The only person who can decide whether to drink or take drugs is the person themselves, and we cannot stop them.
This is a normal thing to think and not in anyway controversial.

Once you've understood that you can apologise for your personal and nasty comments to me.

Will people get sectioned? Not for heroin use but for posing a risk to themselves?

They can't get sectioned for posing a risk to a foetus. Are you suggesting they should be?

Autofillcontact · 05/07/2017 20:41

Completely agree with willrikers - it's very important that women have the freedom to drink or take drugs when pregnant. The unborn have no rights.

The best way to avoid people actually doing it and harming the baby is education, not legislation.

SS won't be particularly concerned about that one anyway, I don't think. It will be more about thwir behaviour in front of their existing baby.

RJnomore1 · 05/07/2017 20:42

What bullshit

You wouldn't need to lock someone up for nine months if they had what is needed to be a good parent i.e. The ability to put their child's needs before their own wants abdxif she is planning to have this baby then absolutely the responsibility to do so begins before birth.

However I think we need to point out he is just as bad in this case - he also has a responsibility to his existing and future child and to the woman carrying it. This is not a feminism issue.

Wherehasmydevilcomefrom · 05/07/2017 20:42

I'd hope they're involved for her little boys sake. Poor baby.

CaptainMarvelDanvers · 05/07/2017 20:42

These two thrive on the drama and the "fame". The newspapers should stop giving them attention now.

Autofillcontact · 05/07/2017 20:42

Also- sectioned? For getting drunk when pregnant? Are you kidding me? I hope that wasn't a serious suggestion

AdalindSchade · 05/07/2017 20:43

Will you said that it's nobody's business including social services if a pregnant woman is getting wasted. That is patently untrue.
Of course social services cannot force a woman to undergo addiction treatment but they can apply under the children act for a care order to remove the baby at birth if they are concerned enough.
This isn't about women being vessels it's about their ability to keep a newborn alive after it is born Hmm

QuiteLikely5 · 05/07/2017 20:52

Auto fill I didn't mention being drunk!

WomblingThree · 05/07/2017 20:52

This breaks my heart. I had zero idea who these people actually were, but I saw a picture of him yesterday with black eyes and figured he must have been hit pretty hard (by her?). I had no idea they had a baby or that she was pregnant.

Why is it that people like this can act like scum and people make excuses for them? If this was a single parent on a council estate, people would be judging their arses off. How do these losers get endless headlines and column inches in the DM, the very paper that denounces people like them. Is it because they are rich? Is that really all it comes down to? Who is looking after their 6 month old baby while they are doing all this? Why is no-one telling them they are shit parents?

QuiteLikely5 · 05/07/2017 20:54

I said if you pose a serious risk to yourself you can be sectioned - highlighting that you cannot really 'do what you want' well not all of the time.

MusicForTheJiltedGeneration · 05/07/2017 20:56

Go on Steph - tell us again about how Jeremy inflicted those bruises on you.

(apologies for Sun link)

leccybill · 05/07/2017 20:57

Who mentioned heroin?!
I thought it was just alcohol issues but now I'm beginning to wonder if drugs are involved too.

Maudlinmaud · 05/07/2017 20:57

I reckon the reason they get media attention is that the people in the know, are well aware of the type of people they are.
It sells papers. Nice little pap shot of them kicking off every few weeks and you keep people interested. Kerching!

Yes, to YOURSELF. Are you not following the point?

Andrewofgg · 05/07/2017 20:58

They deserve each other.

SeekingSugar · 05/07/2017 21:02

Very ugly story. The guy sounds to have had an unthinkably tragic childhood and is clearly unprepared for a relationship. He sounds very damaged.
She appears to enjoy the high drama.
The baby is lovely! I really hope they formally separate and engage with professional help.

ToniMumsnet · 05/07/2017 21:03

Thanks for the reports on this thread.

Discussions like this often get heated but we'd like to remind you that Mumsnet is here to make parents' lives easier. While we encourage healthy and robust discussion, we hope that everyone can respect each other in their choices and express their views without resorting to personal attacks.
We're sure you'd all agree that parents-to-be and new parents need all the support they can get.
After all, parenting is hard enough without facing judgment and criticism for those choices.
Peace and love

Don't be an arse Will Most women manage to live their lives perfectly well for 9 months without being locked up OR getting steaming drunk and being arrested for assaulting their partners.

Don't hold your breath waiting for an apology from me.

TinselTwins · 05/07/2017 21:07

Guys, don't bite! Will is sounding like one of those "devils advocate" MRA posts that's supposed to show us the hypocrisy in feminism and pro-choice via hyperbole!
