AIBU?

WIBU to wear these boots to a wedding?

I have a wedding to go to in October. I'm planning on wearing a long sleeved dark green knitted dress that's about knee length, with black tights and boots very similar to these. The wedding is in a barn and due to the time of year will be pretty cold.
Do you think it would be okay if I wore these boots, or will I look like a prat? Confused

Not for a wedding, I do have to agree, unless it's a themed occasion.

I don't really understand why so many posters feel the need to be so rude, though. There's nothing wrong with the boots for other occasions.

Nope, not weddingy and I really don't think it will be that cold in October (presuming you live in Englandshire?). However I once attended a wedding in a barn in August. It pissed down all day. The trek to the portaloos slowly became a very boggy experience. My advice is to take some cheapo floral print wellies to slip on if you need to go out (taxi, loo, fag break etc).

Oh dear, only possible good thing that can come of these boots is that you can...... wait. Nothing good comes to mind. Perhaps the barn owl might try to roost on you? Or the sheep shall revolt at you wearing their friends? Not good. Please no. Save them for your Alaskan bear hunt trip Grin

I hate being cold, so I sympathise if you are worried, but just pop them in your car. What is unsuitable for a wedding at 4pm has a very different appeal at 3am Grin

I would also rethink your outfit, or have a lighter option available (still in the car). If the heating is set up properly, you might end up very uncomfortable in a knitted dress.

Absolutely not - particularly for a wedding! The time of year is no excuse to throw elegance out of the window... Smile

October, as I'm sure it's been said, isn't that cold and those boots are definitely not occasion worthy!
It's a NO from me too!

Yes, you will look like a prat.

And everyone will be whispering, 'what's with the woman in the boots?'

Those boots look like something an Inuit person would wear. Probably not to a wedding, though.

I am still weeping at "Jon Snerrrrrrrrrrrrr" Grin

OP, if the wedding was in a barn in January, you might have been fine. But October? You'll be baking. Some daps would be a better bet (assuming this is a proper barn we're talking about, not some barn conversion with actual, proper wooden flooring and whatnot).

I think a black leather knee-high or calf length boot with a heel would look fine with a green dress, and would still cover most of your leg.

The prat thing.

Is it unanimous?

Good lord! No! Please do not wear them to the wedding

Not for a wedding. Even in a barn. You'll feel really uncomfortable if everyone is in smart attire and you wear those, you'd really stand out.

I got married in October. It was so warm I didn't need anything over my shoulders and we had all our photos outside. October weather is often quite nice I always think.

You'd have looked a little overdressed in those boots!

Surely there no one that would seriously consider those boots suitable wedding attire. You have got to be having a laugh.

Is the wedding in the UK because October isn't too cold is it!? Wear what you feel comfortable in OP Smile

Fuck sake I haven't stopped laughing at these comments. Surely this is a joke? 😂

The boots are actually vile but if you're arriving by husky, in the snow, and the wedding is Alaskan themed, then why not? I'm assuming the bride will be in a snow suit.

Thank you for making my night. I can't read anymore, scared my waters will break and I'm too comfy in bed to move😂

I personally wouldn't wear those boots to a wedding. I wouldn't get worked up about the notion of someone else wearing them though. Life's a bit short to dick on about other people wearing the 'wrong' thing. If I got married people would be welcome to wear whatever the bloody hell they like. I'd be inviting them, not the contents of a branch of Coast. I'd rather people just wore what they felt best in, whether that was a sequinned ballgown or their favourite jumper.

Only wear those bloody boots if you're going to a wedding in an igloo with a sit down dinner of seal blubber. WTF? Do you want to be mistaken for Nanook of the North?
