WIBU to wear these boots to a wedding?

MiniMummy576 · 05/07/2017 14:16

I have a wedding to go to in October. I'm planning on wearing a long sleeved dark green knitted dress that's about knee length, with black tights and boots very similar to these. The wedding is in a barn and due to the time of year will be pretty cold.
Do you think it would be okay if I wore these boots, or will I look like a prat? Confused

Wear what you want to wear although you might feel too warm in them.

SilentlyScreamingAgain · 05/07/2017 15:14

I'd go a step further, those boots shouldn't be worn anywhere for any reason, whatsoever. Burn those boots.

badg3r · 05/07/2017 15:20

Yes, you will look like a prat OP - sorry!

GandolfBold · 05/07/2017 15:22

Only f its a themed wedding and you are dressing up as Ana from Frozen when she treks through the snow.

In fact, scrap that. Anna's boots are pretty. They are horrid yeti boots (and I say that as someone who has similar boots I wear while watching DD ice skating)

redjoker · 05/07/2017 15:24

Burn those boots.

haha ! yes sorry OP dont mean to be rude at all but this made me nearly spit out my drink!

how about a nice smart pair of ankle boots, tons on ASOS

RortyCrankle · 05/07/2017 15:25

Is this a joke? Of course you shouldn't wear them - they are fugly.

fluffiphlox · 05/07/2017 15:26

I went to an October wedding in a barn in Scotland. It was more than warm enough without looking like Davy Crockett's gran. Wear something wedding-y. Blimey.

GeekyWombat · 05/07/2017 15:26

Erm, YABU. Mainly because they are horrible boots. Horrible.

I'm pretty sure the venue will have heating, even if it is a barn. Or are you going to take an animal skin to fling over your shoulders to finish the look? ;)

Not averse to non-standard footwear (another one who got married in trainers) but they're just way OTT unless its a fancy dress wedding. In the North Pole

Is it a Game of Thrones-themed wedding?

If so, might wanna sport a bullet/stab proof vest underneath your appareil. And leave before the main course arrives.

But under no circumstances wear those fugly boots to the wedding. 😵

NoLoveofMine · 05/07/2017 15:29

Jejemere that sounds like it'd have been a great wedding! If I ever get married I'll do similar and make sure anyone who comes knows they can wear whatever they'd like to. The boots MiniMummy576 is pondering included.

Whenwillwe3meetagain · 05/07/2017 15:29

It won't be that cold in October!

I do find that people dress a lot more smartly for summer weddings over winter weddings.

SapphireStrange · 05/07/2017 15:30

dont mean to be rude at all

What do you sound like when you DO mean to be rude, then?

ILookedintheWater · 05/07/2017 15:31

I'm going to go against the crowd and say that for comfort's sake you should wear the boots: with this hat and this jacket with a soft suede cross body bag

BendydickCuminsnatch · 05/07/2017 15:33

Hate it... frumpy, weird and tree-huggerish..

This!

BendydickCuminsnatch · 05/07/2017 15:33

Soz! Wrong thread!

Cailleach666 · 05/07/2017 15:34

I love the boots.

But maybe not for a wedding.

KinkyAfro · 05/07/2017 15:35

There's no need to be rude about the boots, they are perfectly fine, just not wedding friendly

Goldenhandshake · 05/07/2017 15:37

No, unless it is a North Pole themed wedding. October isn't typically THAT cold.

pinkyflower · 05/07/2017 15:37

wow, i love them, and I would totally wear them (if they were new, if i had battered old comfy boots like this then deffo not)

I struggle with the slightest bit of cold and my feet cramp up, even at a late summer wedding, in pretty heels(not sandals), I found myself in the loo trying to get heat on my feet with the hand-dryer!!

Skarossinkplunger · 05/07/2017 15:41

Unless;

  1. You have the blood temperature of a reptile.
  1. The wedding barn is in Siberia
  1. You are so confident in your satorial choice you give not one jot about what others think.
  1. You are immune to people pointing and smirking.
  1. You are three years old
  1. You actually love being the centre of attention for whatever reason

I would change your outfit.

FuckingSausageFingers · 05/07/2017 15:41

I like them too. Just not for a wedding.

NellieBuff · 05/07/2017 15:42

I am sorry but it is a no from me as well. I also think some smart ankle boots may be the way to go Although I personally think these boots could look good when worn with the right outfit - just not to a wedding

Skarossinkplunger · 05/07/2017 15:43

But I REALLY want the hat from Ilookedinthewater's post. (Not for a wedding though)

category12 · 05/07/2017 15:44

If you want to wear boots, they have to be far dressier than that for a wedding. That's just Biscuit.
