To lose my ***

BeingMePls · 04/07/2017 20:53

I've just come home from work to discover my cleaner has painted parts of my bannister and skirting.

She's dripped white gloss paint over my oak wood flooring and there are paint drip marks on my bannister.

To make things worse my kitchen hasn't been cleaned and there are grease marks untouched.

AIBU to actually lose my *?! I guess she meant well but WTAF?!!

Just....why?

I second tynesideblonde vis: magic eraser - have used it to get drops of paint off my flooring before successfully.

TattyCat · 04/07/2017 22:43

Sharp wood chisel will usually get that of the floor wood if it is Oak

Good God no! A chisel.... chisels! A gentle blade is all that is required.

I am more enthralled by this than the WORKzilla threads. I NEED to know the outcome!

I would actually want to kill her!

Justaboy · 04/07/2017 22:47

TattyCat A decent wood chisel is a scraper used that way, trust me I've got previous on this tidying up after the ex DW!

Before she learnt about masking tape and the like!

BumWad · 04/07/2017 22:50

Wow

HurtyTeeth · 04/07/2017 22:53

Bloody hell. Is her name Slap Dash Sally? What on earth possessed her? Confused

There is no language barrier about getting angry. Take her, point to and tell her what for!

TattyCat · 04/07/2017 22:56

Justaboy

I totally get that, but how many households have a decent chisel?! IME, most have chisels that have been passed down from great-great-great-great-great-or-close-grandads!! Not so sharp... Grin

Justaboy · 04/07/2017 23:00

TattyCat Well the old steel is sometimes the best steel if its been treated right but the liks of Toolstation, Screwfix, Homebase will see this right!.

You don't chisel as such just skim the blade over to get the bulk of the paint off and use white spirit or similar to dissolve the residue, it does work and very well as said plenty of experience cleaning up;!

Leatherboundanddown · 04/07/2017 23:03

OP I probably would have a cry too. Furious with you. Wtf was she thinking

Sal1977 · 04/07/2017 23:14

To start with, calm yourself down. It's not that bad (unless she's chucked a 10litre tin of gloss across the middle of the floor?). Paint thinners rubbed over it will get it up without ruining the floor. For God's sake don't use a heat gun or chisel, you'll fuck the floor right up.

I am slightly bemused that you can't stop crying because her (easily fixable) cutting in isn't great.....

Ollivander84 · 04/07/2017 23:16

I'm with Long. I've got nothing Shock
More rum is probably the answer

Jellybean85 · 04/07/2017 23:21

I was stupid enough to do this on my own (hardwood floor)

LET IT DRY!!!

Stop immediately white spirit.
I got mine immaculate by using a paint scraper, I folded an anti bacterial
Wipe over the end to stop it being a scratchy and basically scraped it off. Slow but worked a treat.

Details Smile

BeingMePls · 04/07/2017 23:21

Ollivander84 🙌🏽 third rum and Coke

Not really crying 🙄

Managed to scrape paint off upstairs with scraper

Downstairs is fucked

Know cleaner was coming from a good place. When we met she had no jobs and her tenancy was up. Helped her find more jobs and she has a beautiful home in a great london location.

Not so pissed about floor but pissed on rum and coke.

Funny hubbie and son ran for cover. They knew I'd lose my shit 😂😂

But have nothing to add on why something an weird happened in the first place Confused

Ollivander84 · 04/07/2017 23:27

I've never actually thought even in my own house "I know, I'll randomly paint something"
My random usually goes as far as moving furniture Confused probably because I would fuck up painting

fannydaggerz · 04/07/2017 23:35

White spirit won't damage your floor and it will lift the paint off easily.

KeepServingTheDrinks · 04/07/2017 23:42

When you finally find out the 'why' OP, please let us know. MN is dying to know her reasoning!

Good luck with your rescue job!!

MissJC · 04/07/2017 23:47

I accidentally got gloss on my wood floor and repeatedly attacking it with an electric steam mop shifted it, that could be worth a try OP?

lemming · 04/07/2017 23:47

Venys did the "domestics" and "tradespeople" In your home cackle audibly while they maliciously trashed your lovely home? I hope they were shown the back door (tradesman's entrance natch).

MissJC · 04/07/2017 23:50

Like leave the steam mop steaming the living shit out of the area for a good bit then mop away and if like mine it should just come off

MissJC · 04/07/2017 23:50

And just to add white spirit wouldn't even move an inch of my gloss horror.

eatingonlyapples · 05/07/2017 02:22

Ohh dahling you're employing low income cleaners with little English and no insurance from dodgy places to tidy your place while you're out, my heart fucking bleeds for you.

CremeFresh · 05/07/2017 02:33

I'm not surprised you're livid Op !

People do odd things though - I came home once to find my lodger had dug up my garden , flowers, shrubs , lawn and patio . I was left with nothing but earth !

BeingMePls · 05/07/2017 07:14

What's the point you're trying to make eatingapples?
