To lose my ***

BeingMePls · 04/07/2017 20:53

I've just come home from work to discover my cleaner has painted parts of my bannister and skirting.

She's dripped white gloss paint over my oak wood flooring and there are paint drip marks on my bannister.

To make things worse my kitchen hasn't been cleaned and there are grease marks untouched.

AIBU to actually lose my *?! I guess she meant well but WTAF?!!

Did you ask her to paint?

venys · 04/07/2017 21:11

Oh my word! What AdalindSchade said. That's the kind of thing that has made me stop hiring domestic workers and tradespeople. They end up being far worse than the kids in breaking your stuff!! If it helps, I have found this natural orange oil (like natural turps) quite good at removing paint spills on floors.

Decaffstilltastesweird · 04/07/2017 21:11

Tell him not to scrub - get a pro in and bill the cleaning company, (assuming she is through a company).

NoWordForFluffy · 04/07/2017 21:12

What?! What on earth possessed her?

Where did you find her? I think she must've been trying to get sacked! Most weird.

HipsterHunter · 04/07/2017 21:12

Whaaaaaat? Why would she do that? And why would she do it sooooo badly???

I think I would cuff.

HipsterHunter · 04/07/2017 21:12

Cry.

Kirbs1979 · 04/07/2017 21:14

If you do go down the route of claiming off her business insurance as a pp suggested I doubt they will cover it because she won't have cover for painting/decorating

BeingMePls · 04/07/2017 21:14

I am crying. And feel so fucking silly about doing so. I wouldn't even mind so much if it was just the kitchen as the wood is worn down a bit there. But upstairs the floor is immaculate.

WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?!!

And no of course I didn't ask her to paint. My husband is a maintenance man and painter and decorator!!!!!!!

WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?!!

AdalindSchade · 04/07/2017 21:15

Have you phoned her yet?

BeingMePls · 04/07/2017 21:19

Yes she's not great at English so not sure she got the gist of my anger.

OP posts:
Littledrummergirl · 04/07/2017 21:19

That wasn't very helpful of your cleaner but why would you lose your * * *? Being fucked off, upset and disappointed I could understand. I hope she is insured. As an employer you need to put emotion to one side and deal with your cleaner on a professional level.
Maybe start by asking them what the fuck they were thinking.

mortificado · 04/07/2017 21:20

Wtf?!
Phone her and claim on her insurance then sack her stupid arse!!

DartmoorDoughnut · 04/07/2017 21:20

Yeah I'm not talking you down that is essentially destruction of your property! What on earth possessed her?!

Rinoachicken · 04/07/2017 21:21

That's just such a bonkers thing to do? I mean, why? Why would you do that? Why would that even enter her head to do that when she should have been cleaning the kitchen?!

How long has she been cleaning for you?

PovertyJetset · 04/07/2017 21:23

So bizarre. I don't get why she did that??

You have to sack her. I would.

BeingMePls · 04/07/2017 21:23

My rum and coke isn't even touching the sides.

Doubt she'll have insurance.

WHY??? There might have been little scuffs but it's not in her jurisdiction to sort! Especially without asking.

OP posts:
chowmeinchick · 04/07/2017 21:24

Sack the bitch. I can't believe this 😂😫

BloodWorries · 04/07/2017 21:25

Is she part of a cleaning company? If so contact the company not her.

If she's just a one man band and doesn't have a boss then you need to ask her to reimburse you for the damage, or ask how she is going to fix it. I'd arrange for her to come around ASAP so you can talk in person, if her English isn't great I would think speaking in person would be easier than over the phone, especially when you can point to the paint splodges.

Make sure you take plenty of photos before your DH cleans any more of it up, if you haven't already.

BeingMePls · 04/07/2017 21:26

Where do I find a cleaner? My last one spent 2 hours cleaning my bathroom which is btw as tiny as fuck.

I found them on street life but that's been shut down

OP posts:
UnicornSparkles1 · 04/07/2017 21:27

What on earth possessed her?! And to do such a bad job too! I'm horrified on your behalf!

BeingMePls · 04/07/2017 21:28

Sounds dramatic but there aren't any joins in the floor which makes it easy to replace the flooring.

They don't sell this flooring anymore so the whole thing would have to be replaced.

That would run into thousands of pounds 😭😭😭😭😞

No way could she afford that and neither could I !!!!!

dudsville · 04/07/2017 21:28

This is really shocking. If it were me I wouldn't let her back in to my house. I would be there when she was next due to arrive. Show her the damage. Hand her a repair bill. Take my keys back. And although I'm always diplomatic I'm would actually show my anger on this one. I would also wonder if there was something wrong with her that she thought this was ok.

SemiNormal · 04/07/2017 21:28

Okay I know you're pissed off and I understand why BUT give it a year or two and this will be something you joke about with people at BBQs/dinner "DH tell so and so about that time we came home to find the cleaner had decorated!" - you will see the funny side ... eventually.

Floggingmolly · 04/07/2017 21:29

I'll bet she knocked the crap out of it dragging the hoover around

RaspberryBeretHoopla · 04/07/2017 21:31

That is one of the most bizarre things I have ever heard of a cleaner doing. I've had some do some pretty odd things but this is the oddest. Is she a drinker - did she bring someone with her who did this?

I hope she's insured for property damage.
