I'm just in the mood to watch some and I'd like recommendations.

My contributions are:

Fire Walk With me

I felt afraid and strangely vulnerable for some reason watching this. I was and am a fan of the original series but I did not expect this to be like it was and was very scared while watching lol.

Mysterious Skin

This one I watched when it was broadcast at 1am on Film Four I think and I ended up watching the whole thing at first not knowing what ir was about and by the end I couldn't stop thinking about it for days afterwards. I want to watch it again but I don't know if I can put myself through it.

But both titles are such good films IMO. Anything similar in vein? No spoilers please.

As above, so below.
Under the skin - also recommend the book (you can find the audiobook on Youtube). I read it years ago and have thought of it many times since - only recently found the audiobook. Very different to the film though).

Session 9. Very unsettling

VanellopeVonSchweetz99 · 05/07/2017 18:10

Oh, Emelie (2015) stayed with me as well ... not hired a baby sitter since!

KrayKray00 · 05/07/2017 18:29

Sorry going to have to place mark this as I have just started a thread similar but novels!

And to add to this the most disturbing film I've watched is The Human Centipede without a doubt. I know people who laugh at it but it made me feel physically sick. I even had to delete it off my Sky Box because it horrified me. I read about the uncut sequels which included babies and children and I thought how on earth can someone think of stuff so sick!

But each to there own! Great thread btw!!

CheshireChat · 05/07/2017 18:30

Absolutely Pan's Labyrinth, my all time favourite

Also, Mirrors

Littlechip · 05/07/2017 18:51

Agree re: When A Stranger Calls Back! Such a good premise. Though I haven't watched it since I was about 15 and it might have aged terribly.
Fab thread! And yes, where are you finding all these films?

TDHManchester · 05/07/2017 19:02

No country for old men

Tastesjustlikecherrycola85 · 05/07/2017 20:08

Psycho

mrsBeverleygoldberg · 05/07/2017 20:15

The Ring, The Grudge, Event Horizon are so scary I can't watch in one go or ever again!
The Conjuring took three goes. I could watch it again. But terrifying.
Annabelle was really disappointing as a haunted doll usually creeps me out!
Now Blair Witch scared me.
I find Rec scary but too juicy.
I liked Paranormal Activity and two. But three was pants.
Mirrors with Keifer Sutherland was scary.

RibenaMonsoon · 05/07/2017 20:22

Another vote for human centipede. Human centipede 2 was even worse. I don't have the stomach for human centipede 3 but I hear that's even worse.

Antichrist is also seriously screwed up.

Insidious

American horror story. Technically a series but still disturbing. It's like a set of ginormous horror films.

Oh and Shutter I found really disturbing too!

user1490465531 · 05/07/2017 20:30

A serbian film.....Not sure if it qualifies as horror but it's the kind of film you wish you had never watched.

BabyPigeon83 · 05/07/2017 20:31

Ouija 2 - origin of evil (do not bother with the first Ouija, it was terrible)

m.imdb.com/title/tt4361050/

Oculus
m.imdb.com/title/tt2388715/

The visit

m.imdb.com/title/tt3567288/?ref=m_nv_sr_1

bertsdinner · 05/07/2017 20:34

Never Let Me Go, disturbing. Company of Wolves is a strange film.
Wolf Creek
Blair Witch was creepy
The Thing (John Carpenter), I find that film scary.

VanellopeVonSchweetz99 · 05/07/2017 20:42

KrayKray00 Please link to your thread about novels, I can't find it!

RussellTheLoveMuscle · 05/07/2017 20:47

Woman in Black is one of my comfort films, seen it dozens of times.
Tried watching Martyrs, turned sound off after 45 minutes then switched it off after another 30
We Are What We Are is really good and I love No Country For Old Men.

Cellardoor23 · 05/07/2017 20:49

I found the film vhs pretty unnerving.
The visit
The decent
Cloverfield/10 cloverfield lane
28 days later

Watched Lights Out the other day on sky, during the day I might add, and I was still hiding behind the pillow!

makeourfuture · 05/07/2017 20:51

I think in the Wizard of Oz where Dorothy sees her Auntie Em in the crystal ball and it turns into the witch is terrifying.

KrayKray00 · 05/07/2017 20:52

Vanellope I'm rather embarrassed as only one person replied! Blush

KrayKray00 · 05/07/2017 20:54

makeourfuture Wizard of Oz, yes! However Return to Oz with all the heads and those man things on wheels. Still gives me the creeps even now shudder

Peepeep · 05/07/2017 20:54

The Borderlands. The end made me cry (in fear not sadness).

TheFreaksShallInheritTheEarth · 05/07/2017 21:07

Ah, I forgot... there is a series on Netflix called "Dark net" that is enjoyably horrific and disturbing!

TheMysteriousJackelope · 05/07/2017 21:15

A Cure for Wellness - not scary but very unsettling. There is a scene towards the end that is disturbing.

Natural Born Killers - I don't know what the point of that movie was, it was just horrible from start to finish.

It took me a couple of times to make it through Event Horizon but there are plenty of people who think it's boring and not that scary on here. They usually show up on threads like this specifically to post that.

RandomUsernameHere · 05/07/2017 21:23

Eden Lake

I found it completely and utterly disturbing

RandomUsernameHere · 05/07/2017 21:24

Not my favourite film though, just the scariest/most disturbing I've ever seen

Marmalady75 · 05/07/2017 21:30

I know they have been suggested before, but Wolf creek and Hostel 1&2 are scary.
I'd also suggest Jeepers Creepers, The descent, Cloverfield lane, The wicker man (original or new version) and Vacancy.
