I'm just in the mood to watch some and I'd like recommendations.

My contributions are:

Fire Walk With me

I felt afraid and strangely vulnerable for some reason watching this. I was and am a fan of the original series but I did not expect this to be like it was and was very scared while watching lol.

Mysterious Skin

This one I watched when it was broadcast at 1am on Film Four I think and I ended up watching the whole thing at first not knowing what ir was about and by the end I couldn't stop thinking about it for days afterwards. I want to watch it again but I don't know if I can put myself through it.

But both titles are such good films IMO. Anything similar in vein? No spoilers please.

Was coming on to sat Eden lake and wolf creek, both worth a watch behind a pillow for me
Also the strangers and last house on the left.

I'm fine with supernatural scary but anything more realistic that could happen is what scares me.

joystir59 · 04/07/2017 14:07

My friend is in the human centipede. He had a lot of fun!

joystir59 · 04/07/2017 14:12

actually he is in The Human Centipede 2

RosaDeZoett · 04/07/2017 14:29

Take shelter, not really horror but totally freaked me out because I had no idea what was really going on.

youmayfoldunderquestioning · 04/07/2017 14:41

Funny Games, directed by Michael Haneke. Preferably the Austrian version but the US version with Tim Roth is ok too. It's very disturbing.

The Strangers is also a decent film which makes you feel ill at ease when watching it.

user1497997754 · 04/07/2017 14:49

The human centipede 1 and 2. Also yes Hostel 1 and 2. All 4 of these films are soooooo scary couldn't watch them again ever

Uiscebeatha85 · 05/07/2017 12:55

MissionItsPossible I watched Mysterious Skin last night on YouTube. Very unsettling and thought provoking.

BarbedBloom · 05/07/2017 13:05

Would you watch Asian films? Shutter (Thai version) was good. The Wailing wasn't bad. Tale of Two Sisters.

Under the Shadow is on Netflix and was good.

Rec is good. As are more Del Toro films, Devil's Backbone, Orphanage etc.

JoshLymanJr · 05/07/2017 13:31

Frailty, Bill Paxton's directorial debut, is extremely disturbing and an unsung gem.

karmacoma1 · 05/07/2017 14:06

Cruel summer

Worst part is that is really happened 😞

SkafaceClaw · 05/07/2017 14:29

In agreement with 'It Follows' and 'Rec' also really loved 'Session 9', 'The House of the Devil' and most Argento films.

Thebookswereherfriends · 05/07/2017 14:40

The devil's backbone is good if you don't mind subtitles. Also, the Japanese originals of The Ring, and Dark Water.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 05/07/2017 14:43

The Woman in Black - the tv adaptation not the film. They have only shown it once it was terrifying

The Vanishing the original Nordic noir not the Hollywood remark that was good but the original is really disturbing

Funny Games

Wolf Creek

squishee · 05/07/2017 14:58

Insidious. I've only seen the first one so far.

Landsendmum · 05/07/2017 15:10

The Woodsman, with Kevin Bacon.

Not at all scary but extremely unsettling for parents.

BertAndKhloe · 05/07/2017 15:26

Get Out, all three Insidious movies, Don't Breathe and Unfriended.
Someone suggest Martyrs. I googled it once after reading about it on buzzfeed and just the synopsis gave me nightmares for weeks!

minicheddars90 · 05/07/2017 15:27

**alltouchedout
They made us watch Threads at school! I still think about it now and again but I don't think I could re-watch it... Martyrs is another film that's stayed with me, something really deep and unsettling about that film apart from the gore.

I'm finding The Handmaid's Tale is one of the most disturbing things I've ever watched, book is great too.

Wolf Creek is terrifying

Jennyhatesjazz0 · 05/07/2017 15:29

Rec terrified me

Audition if you want a genuinely disturbing Japanese film

sausagepastapot · 05/07/2017 15:29

The Babadook, brilliant

Woobeedoo · 05/07/2017 15:36

For me it's The Babadook and a weird one, not that many have heard if, called Triangle (or The Triangle). It has one of the Home and Away actresses in it. The film ends in a really weird way but if you immediately go back to the beginning again and watch the first 10 minutes or so (until the main character gets on the boat) it all makes sense in a "Oh, that's fucking sinister" kinda way.

Goldenhandshake · 05/07/2017 15:45

I watched Children of the Corn years and years ago and it terrified me, looking at it now it's pretty poor but the premise freaks me out.

The original Hills have eyes terrified me too.

In general though, anything with possessed people especially children terrifies me The Excorcist, Exorcism of Emily Rose etc.

SilverDragonfly1 · 05/07/2017 15:48

I love Triangle!!

Can't say more than that as it would spoil it.

SilverDragonfly1 · 05/07/2017 15:50

I'll suggest 'While She Was Out'. You'll never be tempted to leave an angry note on someone's car again!

IHaveBrilloHair · 05/07/2017 15:54

Landsendsmum
I've seen that and agree.

BertAndKhloe · 05/07/2017 15:55

Thanks for this thread. I love horror but you have to watch a lot of rubbish to find the good ones!
