AIBU?

To think my friend was a beep or am I overreacting?

My partner and I were going out one evening and had booked a hotel etc. We didn't fancy going out in the city together as a couple so asked around and found that my friend would be in town. I turned down politely offers of going out with other people as thought it would be nice to go out with her as I hadn't seen her since I travelled 4hrs for her birthday a few months back.

I had agreed with that friend that we'd all meet for drinks then go out afterwards together. Sure sure, all good and agreed even on the very day saying how excited she was to meet up.

Partner and I send her a text asking when would she and her friend (who I've met) would like to come for a drink. Or we could join their plans. Read, and no reply, despite posting all evening including on a whatsapp group we're both in.

This left DH and I to go alone out which of course was fine, but I was just pissed off that she would do that. We wanted a nice relaxing night out with friends.

This friend was meant to be coming to stay in a holiday home (UK) that we're renting for a night or so. She's muffed that one.

How shall I go about this?
I feel like that I value her more than she values me if you get me?

Sorry needed to rant Sad

We didn't fancy going out in the city together as a couple

Why not? Confused

Questioningeverything · 01/07/2017 18:55

When was this? Has the friend not been in touch since?

JeffVadersMum · 01/07/2017 18:56

So not the point of the thread sparkling..

They wanted to go out with friends, not as a couple

Have you heard from her at all? Does she have 'form'for this?

Treysanatomy · 01/07/2017 18:57

What the fuck is a beep?

Whitlandcarm · 01/07/2017 18:57

The city was quite busy with young lads etc drunk so felt a bit unsafe, I suppose. You know sometimes you just want to go out with friends for a change?

This was last night, and no she hasn't.

I was curious because if I had booked a night out and a hotel with DH I wouldn't want random friends tagging along. Sorry if I wasn't allowed to ask the question though Jeff.

TheCutOfYourJib · 01/07/2017 18:58

What's a beep?

Sparklingbrook · 01/07/2017 18:58

I think it's a swear Cut.

Whitlandcarm · 01/07/2017 18:59

Sorry yes a swear Grin

You felt unsafe with your dh????
I would be v pissed off with my friend though if she did that, v rude.

TheCutOfYourJib · 01/07/2017 19:00

A swear word? You know you are allowed to swear?

NotAnotherUserName5 · 01/07/2017 19:02

Maybe her battery died, she lost her phone etc?

Why do you jump to the conclusion she's a beep? Has she form for this?

Whitlandcarm · 01/07/2017 19:03

Not a husband jib...Smile
Well tbh I think twat may suffice then!!

Notanother, no, as I said in op she was posting all evening.

This is odd, are you swingers?

GreenTulips · 01/07/2017 19:07

I think she was rude - no excuse

Do they think you can't see her FB posts?

Tell her to jog on

MeanAger · 01/07/2017 19:09

Is it not quite odd to book a hotel in a city with your partner for a night out and then ask around to see if anyone fancies entertaining joining you for the evening? Confused surely if you go to the effort and expense of booking a hotel in a city it's for a specific reason. I.e; you already have plans to meet friends in the city or you and DH fancy some couple time together. This all sounds very odd. Do you do that often? Do you think your friend is trying to tell you she doesn't want to play gooseberry anymore?

Anotherdayanotherdollar · 01/07/2017 19:10

She's a "beep"??

Calm down there!

Sparklingbrook · 01/07/2017 19:10

That's what I was thinking Mean.

LazyDailyMailJournos · 01/07/2017 19:11

To think my friend was a beep

You can say 'cunt' you know.

Nikephorus · 01/07/2017 19:12

Not a husband jib...
What's DH if not a husband?

TheCutOfYourJib · 01/07/2017 19:12

I thought you said dh?
When you say beep are you wanting to say bitch or cunt or is beep an actual word for something?

FeckinCrutches · 01/07/2017 19:13

I'd feel really awkward going out with a couple if they were away for the night.
Maybe her friend wanted a gossipy night out on the pull and you two tagging along would have ruined that.
Rude of your friend not to text you back but she was probably put in an awkward position by both of you.

MeanAger · 01/07/2017 19:14

Partner and I send her a text asking when would she and her friend (who I've met) would like to come for a drink. Or we could join their plans.

I think this is key. It suggests you were aware she already had plans for the evening and maybe your plan for her to come to you wasn't as set in stone as you have made out. It sounds like she said she would be in X city and could meet up if you wanted as you would be there too. You have taken it as "I will come to you and spend the evening with you" whereas it sounds like it was more a "I'll be in the city, if you want to join me and my friends" kind of thing.

VeryButchyRestingFace · 01/07/2017 19:14

It's hard to see past the fact you don't want a night out alone with your partner to get to the actual beeping issue.

Confused
