To think "well you don't have to shop here do you?" Isn't appropriate from a shop worker?

Just that really. It's very inappropriate isn't it!? She was a young girl as well and I don't want this to sound 'ageist' but I do find a lot of younger employees rather rude? They seem to have a lot of attitude.

AIBU to complain about this girls attitude?

Yes YABU. You asked for fresh produce, were told that for a variety of reasons at that moment in time it wasn't available, carried on at the shop assistant and were told you can shop elsewhere.
You can shop elsewhere.
What's the issue? A lowly shop assistant dared to not jump and become a snivelling server and actually stick to the policy of the shop they work for? Ppl like you irritate the hell out of me tbh, don't get your own way and then obviously everyone else is being rude.
I don't understand why it's generally accepted that we as a society don't need to have respect for others who work in shops/pubs/cafés etc but regardless of how the customers behave must cow-tow and tug forelock.

I'm on about the same bloody guy. Not a difference in job status. The owner working the 'low status' type job himself.
