Would you leave pretty bratty 14 yr old girl alone regularly with decent-looking young male piano teacher with no visible mention of partner?

Well would you? Or is my mind screwed up by Nabakov and The Police etc etc during my impressionable years?

OP posts:

Get a teenage nanny camera installed secretly, then you can review the lessons Grin and put your mind at rest

Sparklingbrook · 26/06/2017 17:06

It's just you OP.

OldBagLady · 26/06/2017 17:07

I've just been to a fantastic talk by Marilyn Hawes from Enough Abuse. She advises extreme caution when employing freelance tutors, music teachers etc. as no DBS type checks are required. She also advises sitting in the lesson at all times.

AnyFucker · 26/06/2017 17:09

Were you that 14yo, op ?

Ninabean17 · 26/06/2017 17:09

a MALE piano teacher?! Good lord lock your daughter away!! Don't let her see male relatives, Dr's or male friends either! Ffs

RiverTam · 26/06/2017 17:11

What growing up in the 90s got to do with any of that? Jean Brodie was written in the 30s and filmed in the 60s and The Police's Don't stand So close to me came out in the early 80s.

Anyway. The only reason I can think you'd need to chaperone is if you thought your DD is likely to embarrass the poor man. As it is, she could be assaulted by anyone of any age regardless of a partner. Or not.

Maman79 · 26/06/2017 17:11

or he might like older women - he could want to tinkle your ivories!!

StaplesCorner · 26/06/2017 17:12

Can you not just stay for the lesson?

Rhodiolia · 26/06/2017 17:14

I grew up in the 90s. I have no fucking clue what planet you are on, every single detail in your posts are fucking bonkers.

ArmedHerring · 26/06/2017 17:16
Confused
Judashascomeintosomemoney · 26/06/2017 17:17

What does 'bratty' mean to you? And whatever it means, why are you calling your own daughter (presumably) it?

Frankiestein401 · 26/06/2017 17:17

I leave my daughter alone with a lesbian piano teacher - God only knows what they get upto in that half hour but daughter has a whale of a time and is inspired to practice.

simon50 · 26/06/2017 17:17

A few years ago I comforted a young girl who lost her mum, moments later she turned up and accused me of being a pedo.
Was that this OP?

nogrip · 26/06/2017 17:18

You are fucking bonkers OP

TheHodgeoftheHedge · 26/06/2017 17:19

waaaaaaah this is a proper WTF thread!

MrsJayy · 26/06/2017 17:20

Grew up in the 90s prime of miss jean brodie WTAF are you On ....about

simon50 · 26/06/2017 17:20

Further to my last post.
The shame is now if I see a lone child I just walk on by!

WaahImTellingTheDorchester · 26/06/2017 17:21

So what exactly is 'bratty' code for OP? Is it possibly less deserving of protection and sympathy than 'feisty' or perhaps 'sassy'?

Emboo19 · 26/06/2017 17:22

I'm not sure I really understand your post op!! Or at least the relevance of the 14 year olds bratty behaviour or the piano teachers looks.
I'd say if you don't feel comfortable leaving a child of any age, level of attractiveness, personality type, etc! Then don't do so, but I wouldn't base it on the things you've mentioned.

My dad does guitar lessons, but will only do so in the parents home and he insists parents are present for under 16's. That's to protect himself though.

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 26/06/2017 17:22

PBP????

troodiedoo · 26/06/2017 17:23

Think you've been watching too much porn OP.

DearMrDilkington · 26/06/2017 17:23

Your right, it'll be too dangerous.

You need to find a butt-ugly married piano teacher, it's the only way to be completely safe.
Hmm

waitforitfdear · 26/06/2017 17:25

You are the teacher op arnt you!

Elephant17 · 26/06/2017 17:25

The cultural heritage- just grew up in the nineties, diet of Prime of Ms Jean Brody, Lolita, The Police, that stuff. Nobody else? Just me?

.... what on earth are you talking about? None of the above were even from the 90's, for a start. Weirdest paragraph ever! Yes, just you, I'm afraid.

Andrewofgg · 26/06/2017 17:26

Even if he was DBS-checked, so what? It only means never been caught yet.

It's a pity - in fact it's grossly unfair - that freelancers are not able to get a DBS check: it would be to their benefit.
