To think the body shop are tw*ts!

Rant alert!

I've noticed a few threads on here with people saying the body shop is just not the same as it once was.

Every time I really like a product they discontinue it, like the lip balm I liked then the Brazil nut scrub and now big satsuma shower gels!

I know I'm not alone as others have said the same. The cherry on the cake came today. Last week I went to the body shop to purchase a big bottle of their satsuma shower gel (which I bloody love) to be told they didn't have satsuma in big anymore just the (overpriced) small ones. I went home and ordered it online. I received an email today saying they no longer stock the satsuma in large sizes and sorry for the inconvenience. They are going to discontinue it aren't they?

AIBU to just think the body shop is all going to shit? Should I even bother anymore? Grin

Yep I can only agree with some of ur views here on some of three bodyshop products. Even though I am the newly converted in terms of using and loving there skin care ranges and the odd few other products I couldn't justify £15 on body butters etc...... my experience with them as a consultant and as a customer are polls apart really. Still love the products but not my awful experience with them !! Come peak summer and Christmas seasons their gifts sets aren't value for money, the found the advent calendars shocking for the price as most of the products were even regular sizes .....

Reallycantbebothered · 22/01/2018 15:42

I first bought body shop oils when they were an offer in Jackie Magazine in the 70's ....showing my age!
was a great fan for many years and my mum used to love the dewberry perfume I used to hate it but it reminded me of her and she's sadly been dead 10yrs now

EB123 · 22/01/2018 15:42

I like their body butters but only buy when i get a good offer. I had a 40% code before Christmas with free gift (full size body butter) and free delivery so used that.

I still miss the Brazil Nut body butter.

WhatATimeToBeAlive · 22/01/2018 15:42

They've discontinued my beloved Vitamin E BB Cream. I thought it was one of their top sellers. Love their stuff and always buy in the sale or with a voucher which makes it a lot more affordable. Can't remember the last time I paid full price.

EB123 · 22/01/2018 15:48

I do like the banana shampoo and conditioner too but am now switching to solid shampoo/conditioner to cut down on plastic.

The Body Shop should have been the first big brand coming up with innovative packaging free products but instead they lagged behind. Lush are forging ahead and bring out interesting new products regularly and campaign for various causes. The Body Shop are still bumbling along, they only just started selling bath bombs in the last year or two and they are wrapped in plastic fgs.

morningconstitutional2017 · 22/01/2018 15:49

There's a lot of places which are not as good as they used to be and like the OP as soon as I like something it gets discontinued.

wisterialanes · 22/01/2018 15:52

I haven't seen a shop for years, thought they all closed down? I remember the highlight of the week meeting my friends every Friday night in TBS and we would try on White Musk, Oceanus and Dewberry at the same time. We thought we were vair posh Grin

takeitandleaveit · 22/01/2018 15:55

The Body Shop lost the plot quite some time ago IMO. Overpriced and underwhelming now. DD v cheesed off that her favourite Red Musk perfume has disappeared from the face of the Earth.

Dear Body Shop, if you're reading this thread (which I bet you are)
... for crying out loud will you STOP discontinuing product lines and bring out new ones all the sodding time. Oh yeah, and quite with the 'body butter with every gift set' idea. We don't all love the stuff and would sometimes like to buy a set of stuff without the body butter in it.

Bellamuerte · 22/01/2018 15:59

Haven't bought Body Shop products for years - it seemed hypocritical for a cruelty-free brand to be sold to L'Oreal, one of the worst offenders for animal testing. People thought they were buying cruelty-free but the money ended up in L'Oreal's pockets! Started to buy a few things again after the Body Shop brand was sold to Natura last year, thereby becoming cruelty-free again. Like another poster said, the brand seems to have lost its way now it's no longer the only cruelty-free option on the high street.

Jaxinthebox · 22/01/2018 16:15

I am 'one of those ladies' and we sell different things to stores - often at greatly reduced prices.
jofrey I can order the elderflower eye gel for you, although I highly recommend the Drops of youth eyeball roller.

I know we have an offer for the large shower gels, I can check and see if I can get Satsuma for you number as for brazil nut, nope, its gone, but we have coconut scrub, shea scrub and lots more.

TBSAH · 22/01/2018 16:17

Totally agree ladies. Loved the dewberry range, why did they have to discontinue it. They tried to bring it back with the blueberry fragrance which is very close then discontinued that as well lol ..... I think some of the products are over priced still my self. We have an outlet body shop near me so I grab as many items as I can discounted from there but u have to be careful as an awful lot of there stock is close to being out of date. That's why they are soooo cheap. So ur not really getting great bargains are u 😂😂😂

DinkyDaisy · 22/01/2018 16:36

I haven't been in one for years but used to go loads in the 80s- and it must have been cheap as I was not well off and bought a fair bit at a time.
Coconut shampoo and banana conditioner, a pineapple cream type face wash, all their transparent fruity soaps, oceanus perfume and one beginning with A? The name has gone. Never so keen on Dewberry or white musk but used to have a good sniff at the fuzzy peach. Loved the lipbalms. Used go all greasy with the body butters. Don't remember being followed about and I would browse and linger...

bananagrabber · 22/01/2018 16:36

Eyeball roller? Shock

DinkyDaisy · 22/01/2018 16:38

Ananya [just looked it up!].

Weezol · 22/01/2018 16:42

Bugger, can only get aduki beans in tins round here.

Jaxinthebox · 22/01/2018 16:44

banana It should have said ball roller for eyes. NOT eyeball roller.
Grin

DinkyDaisy · 22/01/2018 16:58

Roma perfume anyone?

CantChoose · 22/01/2018 17:22

I've never found a scrub that compares to ge Brazil but one. And I didn't know theyd discontinued the Brazil nut body butter. A sad, sad day.

Teddy1970 · 22/01/2018 17:30

It's never been the same...I really miss the old Body Shop, Passion fruit cleansing gel, Japanese washing grains and carrot mosituriser to name a few...what were they thinking? I used to go in there every week, not now though, I can't remember the last time I went in.

BessMarvin · 22/01/2018 17:32

I want to buy stuff from there but I think it's a nostalgia thing for raspberry ripple, green apple, etc from when I was at school. I remember everyone seemed to have one of the lip balms in their blazer pocket (mine was strawberry)!

PETRONELLAS · 22/01/2018 17:36

Bath pearls. Omg I’d forgotten their very existence.

DinkyDaisy · 22/01/2018 17:37

Ooh- I'd forgotten carrot moisturiser...

Shouldnotwouldnot · 22/01/2018 17:42

Who else has body shop ads all over this page?!

Anyway, I genuinely thought it was a teenage shop. The fragrances are all sickly sweet children’s smells I meant you can’t compare L’Occitane with Body Shop!

woodhill · 22/01/2018 17:42

I have ordered some products with their 40% sale but a lot of regular products were out of stock like rainforest shampoo and their expensive night cream was not discontinued.

Is it any good?

On their website they did not test on animals?

Remember when they refilled and used to like their pineapple face wash.
With the plastic crisis it would be good if they restarted this service.

I like their shower gels.

woodhill · 22/01/2018 17:42

Also went to get dressed and my basket had emptied online which was so annoying
