To think the body shop are tw*ts!

Rant alert!

I've noticed a few threads on here with people saying the body shop is just not the same as it once was.

Every time I really like a product they discontinue it, like the lip balm I liked then the Brazil nut scrub and now big satsuma shower gels!

I know I'm not alone as others have said the same. The cherry on the cake came today. Last week I went to the body shop to purchase a big bottle of their satsuma shower gel (which I bloody love) to be told they didn't have satsuma in big anymore just the (overpriced) small ones. I went home and ordered it online. I received an email today saying they no longer stock the satsuma in large sizes and sorry for the inconvenience. They are going to discontinue it aren't they?

AIBU to just think the body shop is all going to shit? Should I even bother anymore? Grin

I stopped using them years ago when I discovered they aren’t vegan. It seems silly but I had assumed they would be. 😕

I quite like their stuff but the staff do pounce. The outlet shop I went to recently had the same prices as my local shop.

testpickles · 22/01/2018 12:49

I miss their dewberry products

Not interested in ordering online, but I'd quite like to go in and have a browse to see what they've got these days, but I can't. I can't be doing with not being allowed to just have a look round like I'm quite capable of doing in every single other shop I go in.
They would actually follow me round trying to hard sell things I have no interest in, I'd pick up something and that would be it, sales pitch about why I should get it, and have I seen something else that would be good for such and such?
Went in with my partner to a different branch to ours, same thing. Partner was told I would really love him if he bought me some grim bronzing body oil.
Tried a different branch on holiday to get out of the rain with my very young DD, I turned to pick up a body butter and a sales assistant had started putting makeup on her face.

Hilariously because TBS is mentioned so much on this page it is coated in their advertising.

Has the bodyshop become a mlm scheme? Keep seeing people post on fb very similar to other mlm rubbish

TBSAH · 22/01/2018 14:40

They are just full of hot air, promising the world but delivery very little !! .... steer well clear of joining then.

WhiteWalkersWife · 22/01/2018 14:46

Ive just read your post TBSAH, i did suspect seeing the pists from my friends. They were so similar to the herbal life ones i did wonder.

Ireallylovetea2 · 22/01/2018 14:54

Hadn't been in there for years, but went in recently and I was completely shocked at the price of their body butter. It's no better than another one I use, but that only costs me about £2.00. I'm afraid I walked straight back out as I couldn't justify those prices.

Ireallylovetea2 · 22/01/2018 15:01

I also agree with the attitude of the staff, they pester and follow you about, as soon as you pick something up they are there, even if you've just told them "you're fine and just browsing".

Ireallylovetea2 · 22/01/2018 15:09

Lush has got expensive too though, I was shocked at their prices when shopping for Xmas presents.

MyDcAreMarvel · 22/01/2018 15:14

Once they discounted dewberry that was it for me.

AlpacaLypse · 22/01/2018 15:15

@TesticlesInTheBlender those japanese washing grains were actually just ground up adzuki beans. So put a handful in the blender. Job done.

Ive never forgiven them for discontinuing my favourite ever perfume, Oceanus about 20 years ago now! Grin

TinklyLittleLaugh · 22/01/2018 15:23

Come on the Body Shop hasn't been the same for about 35 years. You used to take your empty bottles back to be refilled and blend your own perfume from the oils on the perfume bar.

Queeniebed · 22/01/2018 15:24

I used to love the Body shop - then it was sold on and got expensive so went to LUSH. Now that's expensive but nice as a treat

Queeniebed · 22/01/2018 15:25

I used to love MOonflower perfume - discontinued after I bought one bottle

Aki23 · 22/01/2018 15:27

I went mad at one of their outlet stores (massive discounts) and said that once I had used it all up that was it

RaquelWelch · 22/01/2018 15:27

I put loads of stuff in my on line basket before Christmas and merrily added my 40% off code only to be told it didn't apply to anything in my basket!! I just left it all and didn't bother

Weezol · 22/01/2018 15:27

L'oreal was the end for me.

I have half a small bottle of blue ice shampoo that's still useable. I'm saving it for an emergency. It will have to be something huge though, even chucking out my H for cheating didn't seem serious enough to use the Blue Diamonds of Delight.

Adzuki beans - I've been pondering buying some to chuck in the blender. I think I'll give it a go.

MichaelBendfaster · 22/01/2018 15:29

I loved the Brazil nut body scrub too. I really miss it.

It's very overpriced for what it is, and doesn't know what its place is now it's no longer the only high-street cruelty-free option.

Having said that, I do shop there still, but only when there's at least 50% off, and I only buy a few specific things –I like the body scrubs and the fig shower gel.
