To think the body shop are tw*ts!

Rant alert!

I've noticed a few threads on here with people saying the body shop is just not the same as it once was.

Every time I really like a product they discontinue it, like the lip balm I liked then the Brazil nut scrub and now big satsuma shower gels!

I know I'm not alone as others have said the same. The cherry on the cake came today. Last week I went to the body shop to purchase a big bottle of their satsuma shower gel (which I bloody love) to be told they didn't have satsuma in big anymore just the (overpriced) small ones. I went home and ordered it online. I received an email today saying they no longer stock the satsuma in large sizes and sorry for the inconvenience. They are going to discontinue it aren't they?

AIBU to just think the body shop is all going to shit? Should I even bother anymore? Grin

Petalhead- I used that compact foundation, it was fab.
I think, like Gap, the "discounts" represent the real value with a fair markup. The mug who pays full price in the shop is probably an added benefit.
Their website is awful as well.

They discontinued the tea tree concealer stick Angry I loved that concealer and the Jasmine and Neroli EDP!! My DP surprised me with the Body Shop's advent calendar for Christmas, I was Underwhelmed with the products I got in there, but the English rose body scrub and body butter is lovely.

Ice Blue shampoo. Angry #stillnotoverit

I still lobe their passion fruit body butter. But it's another one that they only sell part time. Why do that?! It's popular and sells well. I would buy it year round. Now I just get one tub and stretch it out - I've brought more and they've gone off unopened before so won't do that now.

WhatALoadOfOldBollocks · 27/06/2017 10:35

I used to love the place in my teens and twenties, but the only thing I've bought from there in the past few years is the Camomile gentle eye make-up remover. It's very good but probably won't buy more as I'm experimenting with making my own out of witch hazel and oil. It's not quite as good but at least I'm not lining L'Oreal's pockets.

If the shops are usually empty and there are often offers on, can you imagine the profit they must be making on what they do sell! Or maybe they're making a killing online.

UnicornMadeOfPinkGlitter · 27/06/2017 11:17

I stilllike the body shop. I like the vitamin e cleanser and moisturisers. Dd is 11 and loves the lip balms. She got some great deals in the sales after Christmas.

I also really like the almond milk hand cream. It is expensive. Like others I remember buying bath pearls and fun soaps and shower gels. Plus cotton bags all for pocket money prices.

I've never seen plastic wrapped bath bombs in our local store. Just as well as dd is obsessed with those as well and spends a fortune in lush.

She wants a basket full of them in the bathroom. I blame zoella who probably is gifted them. They cost a fortune.

I think lush is overpriced more so than body shop. Which is another I remember as being cheaper. Think it was mail order only at one point and was obsessed with happy hippy grapefruit shower gel.

UnicornMadeOfPinkGlitter · 27/06/2017 11:19

I also think the pricing structures are American in focus. Like gap. I'm led to believe by a few American friends that most won't shop unless a discount is applied so the frequent offers are reflective of the true prices and it's s bonus to gap/body shop/boden if you do buy at full price.

Oh I remember fondly the fuzzy peach perfume oil. People used to stop me on the street and ask what I had on.

Twas bloody lovely Sad

Oh yes, nice wasn't it. I've still have an almost full bottle of it because I prefered the vanilla one. Got the dewberry too. They must be over 20 years old now though but still smell OK!

SABeeTiger · 27/06/2017 12:26

I also hate being pounced on. I don't mind being asked once, but then I hope to be left alone. That and the hard sell at the till and longest receipts I've ever seen, I avoid it now. Having nostalgia over all these long forgotten products PP are mentioning!

Aeroflotgirl · 27/06/2017 13:27

No their ethics is not the same since they are managed by L'Oreal, I think they test on animals now, I heard L'Oreal does Sad.

Just seen this on BBC news:

Forgot headline for link: 'Body Shop bought by Brazil's Natura'.

AntiopeofThemyscira · 27/06/2017 16:45

The Body Shop pisses me right off. The prices they charge. I'm lucky enough to be able to get products from Bath and Body Works as I have family living in countries where they have branches. The quality and range is beyond superior compared to TBS. I wish they'd go bust and B&BW would open some branches here.

EB123 · 27/06/2017 16:56

They discontinued my favourite Brazil Nut Body Butter and year or two ago and I haven't bothered buying from them since.

ghostyslovesheets · 27/06/2017 17:00

I stop shopping there when they discontinued Buriti Baby - that was so good for my skin :( YANBU

NeedATrim · 27/06/2017 18:17

Oh yes, they scrapped that tea tree cool and creamy face wash as well. My DH is still annoyed with that.

Shitalopram · 27/06/2017 19:29

Brazil Nut body butter is gone?!

I got married in that!

(And a dress obvs)

UnderslungBowlingBall · 27/06/2017 21:11

I love their seaweed stuff, only thing that clears up my skin, but most of the rest is shite.

Mysteriouscurle · 27/06/2017 21:23

I used to love it and buy everything there. Now I just use their shampoo and conditioner. And I even get it in my local outlet shop so a bit cheaper. I was finding that when you went in they were in your face the whole time and trying to get me to buy all sorts of shite I'd never use more than i wanted. once when I got to checkout it was £20-something but by then i qualified for this at only £5 and that at 10% discount and if I just spent a few more pounds id get so much off my bill. Came to nearly £40. I must have had mug written all over my face. I hardly ever go in now. I like superdrugs moisturisers and shower gels and they're a fraction of the price.

Phoebeg1723 · 10/09/2017 23:54

Ladies, please find and keep in touch with a Body Shop At Home Consultant.

we work really hard to try and provide our customers with top notch service. Yes the BIG ONE Shower Gels are only available in our sales. WE still do the Satsuma Shower Range.

We don't do bath bombs at all.

We always have at least 30% off most products and if you host parties you can get lots for free. So don't be put off by prices. Contact a consultant and they'll look after you :)

KrytensNanobots · 11/09/2017 00:12

Ah,memories, I used to love Body Shop as a teen! Not been in one for years though.
Used to love the peppermint foot lotion, the body butters and White Musk perfume. Smile

KrytensNanobots · 11/09/2017 00:16

White Musk, is now £22 for the EDP.

HOW much???? Bloody hell. Sure it wasn't expensive in the 90s,otherwise I wouldn't have been able to buy it!

CardsforKittens · 11/09/2017 00:48

I remember their woody sandalwood massage oil. Best scent in the whole world. I miss that.

Broken11Girl · 11/09/2017 01:34

Yy to the overzealous staff who accost you and assume you're shoplifting if you don't want assistance. Twats. I had this and the security guard accused me - I hadn't, just decided I didn't want anything and put stuff back. He was very aggressive. Haven't been in one since.
