WAITED 9 YEARS FOR MY DC TO SAID THEIR FIRST WORD... HE JUST SPOKE!

Just that really! 😭😭😭😭😭 I am a completely blubbering mess! 😭😭😭😭

Waited 9 years for my DC to say his first word and he just spoke and said " oh no!" 😭😭😭

AIBU to keep him off of school tomorrow to take him to his favourite restaurant and park to Celebrate?! The places he really likes are normally extremely busy and loud if we try and go at weekends / after school or in the holidays and it doesn't result in an enjoyable experience for him!

I also so incredibly proud and I just want to treat him for talking even though I don't even think he is aware he has said a word! ❤️😭😭😭

This made me cry

CeeJay1012 · 27/06/2017 17:50

So wonderful - congratulations!!! I hope you had a fabulous day out. It is so encouraging to read about your little one - I have been waiting 6 and a half years to hear my son's voice and stories like yours help me to "keep the faith" that his day will come. Huge hugs to you and your son!

Ericaequites · 27/06/2017 17:52

Hurrah! I am so pleased for you both! May this be the first of millions of words he will say!

caramac04 · 27/06/2017 17:58

I would be a blubbering mess too! What a fabulous achievement. Do what makes you both happy FlowersWineSmile

ToastyFingers · 27/06/2017 18:00

What a wonderful bit of good news amongst all the heartache in the world at the moment.

Congratulations to you and your DS! Hope you both have lots of fun tomorrow.

exaltedwombat · 27/06/2017 18:05

A happy story for your happy occasion:

Child never spoke. 10 years. Then, one day at breakfast, he says 'Pass the butter please.'

??????

'Well, everything was OK up to now.'

HappyFlappy · 27/06/2017 18:07

WONDERFUL!

So thrilled and happy for you - what a milestone!

KeiraKnightleyActsWithHerTeeth · 27/06/2017 18:07

This is lovely.

WoofWoofMooWoof · 27/06/2017 18:14

Woohoo, so happy for you OP Grin. My DD said her first word at 4, and I remember the joy well.

Lynnm63 · 27/06/2017 18:15

That's so lovely. You should spoil him with a day out tomorrow. My dd has SN and is at a special school I'm sure her school would agree to a day off for something as momentous as this.

BensonBunny · 27/06/2017 18:19

Oh BLUESEA that's wonderful! I read your OP and cried a bit as well. My DS is 17 and has never spoken (not quiet mind, just no words) and I can only imagine how emotional it must have been to hear him speak. I really really hope it continues, words will open up his world so much!

WhatALoadOfOldBollocks · 27/06/2017 18:27

He's 9 and he's just spoken his first word?! I'm clearly missing something here and can't find another thread from OP to explain a backstory Confused

Jux · 27/06/2017 18:35

It's pretty obvious, WhataLoad, and op doesn't need to explain any further.

Alfieisnoisy · 27/06/2017 18:38

Oh it's wonderful when they first speak. My son was 4 when he finally spoke and I remember how amazing I felt.
He's 14 now and a real chatterbox. He's come such a long way.

Hope your DS catches on to how much this will help him and he continues to develop that speech.

Alfieisnoisy · 27/06/2017 18:40

whataload my DS is autistic and didn't speak until age 4. It can be much later sometimes .

EnjoyYourShitCake · 27/06/2017 18:44

Loopy567 · 27/06/2017 18:50

WhatALoadOfOldBollocks · 27/06/2017 18:52

It's pretty obvious, WhataLoad
Not to me it isn't, I don't have kids! I was curious, that's all.

Piss off whataload. What a shitty post
No I won't and no it wasn't. Why was it a shitty post? I have no idea why it's taken 9 years and actually I'm interested.

whataload my DS is autistic and didn't speak until age 4. It can be much later sometimes
Thanks Alfie

Does whataload stand for the bollocks you chat??
Why did wanting to know the story behind OP's DS mean I was talking bollocks Holly? I don't have kids, I have no idea about child development.
