Just that really! 😭😭😭😭😭 I am a completely blubbering mess! 😭😭😭😭

Waited 9 years for my DC to say his first word and he just spoke and said " oh no!" 😭😭😭

AIBU to keep him off of school tomorrow to take him to his favourite restaurant and park to Celebrate?! The places he really likes are normally extremely busy and loud if we try and go at weekends / after school or in the holidays and it doesn't result in an enjoyable experience for him!

I also so incredibly proud and I just want to treat him for talking even though I don't even think he is aware he has said a word! ❤️😭😭😭

Wonderful news! I'm still waiting and she's 9.

Hopefully one day Wink

fleshmarketclose · 28/06/2017 00:06

Well done Mini Blue Star
It reminds me of ds's first words, he has autism and would have been about five. We were in M&S and someone dropped a bottle of wine and loudly said "Bloody hell!" Out of nowhere ds echoed it perfectly and loudly Grin
We always joked that we were grateful it wasn't Asda we were in as it might have been a much more profane first words Wink

nina2b · 28/06/2017 00:51

YES!!! Go celebrate, how amazing GrinGrin

Gugglebum · 28/06/2017 22:41

Oh my goodness I am in tears!!! Yes!! Celebrations all around!! Not quite the same but I waited 6 and a half years for my son to chew and swallow solid food of any kind. Had been purée-ing for soooo long (sensory problems) and was prepared to do it forever for him. The first day he ate I was jumping around and screaming and crying like an idiot!! Flowers

rightwhine · 28/06/2017 23:34

twinkle that's amazingly sad. I bet he loved being able to say your name too, and I bet he loved your reaction to him saying your name.

BikeRunSki · 29/06/2017 08:12

This thread is still making me well up. Puts all my more mainstream child-parenting issues in the shade.

Twinkle's story is heartbreaking, but oozes love.

BLUESEAPARADISE · 16/07/2017 20:32

Thankyou everyone!

He has said " oh no!" A couple more times and it still results in me being a blubbering mess in the corner 😭😭😭😂🙈

Fantastic news!! Star
My friends DS is just coming up to 8 and he still doesn't speak. Hearing things like this restores faith that he will do in his own tome

justilou · 16/07/2017 23:55

I know that this is an old post, but so wonderful to read!!! That's just brilliant!!! I am surrounded by family and friends with automatic kids who are non-verbal and it must seem like a miracle to you!!! After all you must out in for your son you deserve every moment of joy!!! Well done!!!

BLUESEAPARADISE · 31/07/2017 22:10

Thankyou so much everyone! I am still on cloud 9 and can't believe it!

Over the past week or so he has started to say " Ca?!" Casper) and walk around the house looking for our cat ( called Casper) and when he finds Casper he gets so excited and screeches " Ca!" With so much excitement the poor little cat runs out of the door as quick as he can with DS running quickly behind him! Lol this is the first time DS has reacted to someone being in the room / house and also the first time someone not being in the house ( before you could walk into / out of the room / house and he wouldn't react)

ALSO!

When I place his food down in front of him down he goes " ooooh!" As he inspects his plate!

I am so incredibly proud of my DS, words can't even begin to explain it! I was told this wouldn't happen... it has and it is! So much so I am now at the point I am filming as much of it as possible to rub into the " specialists" face who told me to NEVER expect him to talk or to have any understanding to what is going on around him!

😍😍😍 I love my boy!
