Tories have done a deal with the DUP. And it only cost 1 billion.

What a bargain.

Hmmm. What shall I do to pass all these shitty laws? I know, I need a majority! Let's have an election so I can get a stronger mandate!

Oh shit, I lost my majority. Don't worry, I can link up with the DUP!

Yay for democracy.

So there IS a magic money tree!

A billion? Are you sure? What the frig are 6 counties, most of which are under populated, going to do with a billion quid?

Shellsandstones1 · 26/06/2017 12:44

By my fag packet calculation, that's about £500 to every soul there.

DustyMaiden · 26/06/2017 12:45

How much is a billion, this week?

gluteustothemaximus · 26/06/2017 12:46

Yep, on the BBC news at the moment, they have agreed an extra billion (on top of the 500 million already being given).

I don't know how the austerity argument works very well, when they can magic 1.5 billion from the money tree.

A billion is nothing compared to the cost - in money and lives - if this Tory power-play undermines the Good Friday Agreement.

MitzyLeFrouf · 26/06/2017 12:48

Which it will.

Lochan · 26/06/2017 12:49

Well someone in the DUP clearly has excellent negotiating skills. Perhaps they should be sent to hold David Davis' hand.

ofshoes · 26/06/2017 12:49

Nice. I'm going to spend my share on takeaways and possibly drugs

Shellsandstones1 · 26/06/2017 12:51

I'd say with some confidence that most of the people involved in northern Irish politics and the Good Friday Agreement, will be absolutely top-notch negotiators. Because they've done it for years, with guns to their heads. Enter Tory posh boys and they'll eat them alive.

Eve · 26/06/2017 12:58

... the way I read the announcement, its for infrastructure spending that's already been earmarked but been brought forward and such things as ongoing farm subsidies.

Investment in such things as health is long overdue, Northern Ireland has the longest waiting lists for hospital appointments anywhere.

Lottapianos · 26/06/2017 13:01

'So there IS a magic money tree!'

My thoughts exactly. What a bunch of absolute bleeps Angry

Whenyouseeit · 26/06/2017 13:06

I think given the extra impact brexit will have on NI I don't have any issues with the money. Its for infrastructure too so could be a great way to boost the economy. But then, I dont agree with austerity - the Tory's do, so how can they justify it.

However, I am utterly horrified that they can, purely for personal gain, blow the good friday agreement out of the water. Its not like its a theoretical risk, the other side have come out and said it will violate the agreement.

Somerville · 26/06/2017 13:07

Have we had a statement from Sinn Fein yet?

PaddingtonLoverOfMarmalade · 26/06/2017 13:07

Getting the DUP to come with me next time I buy a new car. Smile

Shows that being a tough bastard is the way to get on in the modern world.

Getting the DUP to come with me next time I buy a new car. GrinGrin

sobeyondthehills · 26/06/2017 13:10

Its not like we have a failing NHS, millions of people using foodbanks, or the disabled dying from welfare cuts.

Its not like this deal will screw any agreement in NI

I might be angry and have gone to sarcasm as a fallback

Okite · 26/06/2017 13:13

Unbelievable. I am completely dumbfounded as to how TM is still prime minister and the Tories still in government. I haven't seen anything quite so shambolic and short-sighted for quite some time.

LanaKanesLeftNippleTassle · 26/06/2017 13:14

Oh yeah theres a fucking magic money tree now, isn't there Theresa??

No magic money tree to support schools and hospitals, but plenty of ready cash to bribe a bunch of bigoted, rabble- rousing creationists to keep her in power.

Goodbye, Good Friday Agreement.
It was nice while it lasted.

HipsterHunter · 26/06/2017 13:14

Fucking hell this makes me so so so angry.

This will derail the fragile NI peace,I am sure of it.

'So there IS a magic money tree!'

Quite.

gluteustothemaximus · 26/06/2017 13:15

I have no issue with the money side of things, I agree in investment, supporting infrastructure, health care and education.

I do have issues with austerity, and constantly being told there's no money, and benefits being cut for people with disabilities...and then up pops 1.5 billion, and also the 140 million that the GE cost.

Plus I am very worried about the GFA - and Brexit in general.

Bearing in mind the GE was 18 days ago now, it's taken a while to get to here.

MycatsaPirate · 26/06/2017 13:15

I was watching the Tracey Ullman show last night and it showed TM being hounded by calls from the DUP leader asking for more and more ridiculous demands to be met. It was actually very amusing but the reality is quite sickening really.

Who knew you could just buy your way into a job?

whattodowiththepoo · 26/06/2017 13:18

Some of the comments here make it seem like the tories are sending over a plane full of cash.

Spudlet · 26/06/2017 13:22

Super tip top negotiating skills there from the Conservatives. I have absolutely no concerns about them negotiating Brexit, none at all. No. It's not like the European Union is built on negotiations, makes all of its legislation via negotiation and therefore and has some really experienced negotiators available, after all. No indeed!

/sarcasm

coconuttella · 26/06/2017 13:27

Some of the comments here make it seem like the tories are sending over a plane full of cash.

In essence they are! £1bn of English, Scottish and Welsh taxpayers money!

Artofnoise1 · 26/06/2017 13:27

Yeah, fuck the good Friday agreement. We'll just get in to bed with a bunch of catholic hating dinosoars. We have no money to house people in safe accomadation, or funds for the NHS , but so what. A billion to stay in power is nothing eh? Angry
