To fuck OFF.

Many examples recently of people appointing themselves thread curator and being rude, annoying and pointy finger ish to other posters who disagree with them.

It annoys me more than it should.

And then half the people police the poster for saying LIGHTHEARTED and the other half lament the good old days when we didn't have to declare our whimsical intent.

NotYoda · 24/06/2017 17:52

Raspberry
I think the bun-fighty people are off doing RL things, and the rest of us have taken our medication so it's OK

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 24/06/2017 17:52

I hate the "light hearted" disclaimer.

I refuse to use it and threads that have it are usually rubbish anyway.

Highalert · 24/06/2017 17:54

Is it too early for a drink? Or is that too downmarket?

RaspberryBeretHoopla · 24/06/2017 17:54

😂 notyoda
I whipped up dinner for 5 while posting on this thread.

NotYoda · 24/06/2017 17:54

Chardonnay

It's a bit "You don't have to be mad to work here but it helps" I always think

BTW, anyone want to comment on my use of bold ? Non?

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 24/06/2017 17:55

Good use of bold there.

Keep up the good work.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 24/06/2017 17:56

Is it too early for a drink? Or is that too downmarket?

Was that to me?

Hmm
RaspberryBeretHoopla · 24/06/2017 17:57

Highalert I fear it is far far too late to start drinking, for all of us.

Except drunk husband. He's already started of course.

Highalert · 24/06/2017 17:57

bold is quite upmarket.

Sparklingbrook · 24/06/2017 17:57

Oh actually it's not as bad as I remembered and quite funny. But there were people who though I was serious. I misjudged the audience back in 2012.

I think (lighthearted) often is like when people say "I'm not being funny/racist/offensive but...."

OP posts:
YesMadamDeputySpeaker · 24/06/2017 17:59

"Did you mean to be so rude?" - one for the bingo cards which I noticed (having RTFT, natch) was omitted earlier on. Smile

MaQueen · 24/06/2017 17:59

If you can't tell if a thread is intended as being whimsical and funny without the use of 'Lighthearted' in the tile, then you simply haven't earned your MN spurs...

SmileEachDay · 24/06/2017 18:00

Good work YesMadam

OP posts:
Highalert · 24/06/2017 18:00

You must have had the country set on that thread, Sparkling. I bet they let their horses shit every where too.

KatieScarlett · 24/06/2017 18:02

DYMTBSR is a terrible comeback.
"Why yes, I did!" is the inevitable reply. With a hard stare.
Not so scathing now, are you?

Alisvolatpropiis · 24/06/2017 18:03

When I was new to MN I used "HTH" in a sincere way and soon realised my error.

I've deployed it correctly ever since, but only rarely. I try to play nice generally speaking.

ClopySow · 24/06/2017 18:05

I imagine the person who writes HTH to be matronly with folded arms, a prim expression and narrowed eyes

I always imagine them as very thin with a smug smile brushing imaginary crumbs off their expensive cardigan. And they'd make a little high pitched "hm" noise after they'd said it.

KatieScarlett · 24/06/2017 18:05

Hello MaQ darling.
YY Lighthearted is for the wusses.

YesMadamDeputySpeaker · 24/06/2017 18:10

Ooh, another one left out - "if you don't like it here you can jolly well flounce off to Netmums!"
