To think DH is being silly and I'll be fine to drive home?

I have always been in rude health so accept my judgement may be a little off BUT

I have to have a biopsy on a suspected cancerous area on my skin. It's not removal of the bloody thing, it's just a biopsy to see what we're dealing with so I don't want to make a fuss. The letter says it will be one under local anaesthetic so I have assumed that I'll have a bit of the thing taken for analysis, get in my car and go back to work. DH is insisting he comes with me, drives me home and I 'rest' for the day.

Now, I know he's being lovely and all that but I just want to have it done and get back to work so I don't have to think about it too much. He's worrying me even more by just trying to be nice, but I honestly think I'll be totally fine. Am I being niaive or is he over reacting?

What does the hospital say? Usually they let you know if you wouldn't be fit to drive.

Can he drive you to and from the appointment and then if your up to it to work afterwards?

Where is it on your body? Could be a doddle or could be very draining for you. Take the time off.

Well I had one on the boob and went back to work after. Wasn't driving though. Don't remember it being particularly painful but was years and years ago. I'd be like you and see how I feel on the day?

Honestly? I'm pretty tough and had some thing v similar couple of years ago. You do get quite shaky with the adrenaline of it all and then it can leave you feeling wiped out. Let him do a kind thing for you x

My step dad has regular local anaesthetic to remove skin cancerous growths - he's not allowed to drive himself home afterwards. So maybe allow him to drive you home and/or back to work. Hope it goes ok for you.

I get very confused under local anesthetic, even though I'm coherent. I definitely wouldn't drive, but that's just how I react to it. Have you ever been under local before?

I had a biopsy done on breast lump, local anaesthetic. Paper stitches and drove myself home, might be a bit sore and uncomfy for work though depending on area?

It's probably less to do with the driving and more your DH wants to be with you

I went for a biopsy a few weeks ago, went by myself thinking I'd be in and out. I actually got really wobbly during the procedure and I had to drive 20 mins home after sitting in the waiting room for ages trying to sort myself out.

I had a boob one, local for biopsy and same again for a removal of tissue. Didn't hurt at all but I felt a little woozy/tired afterwards - not the anaesthetic but the adrenaline I think. Maybe schedule a little break for yourself afterwards, they recommend you sit in recovery until you feel okay to go, but yes you can drive after a local.

It's on my face. () I thought you'd all say that he was being daft. I know i can stick my head in the sand so that's why I'm posting. I'm a bit scared truth be told and my way of dealing with it is to pretend everything is normal.

I had a biopsy on my scalp two years ago, local anaesthetic and back in the car driving home within half an hour. No one even batted an eyelid

My mum had one done on her face. Went herself thinking it would be nothing. Felt awful after, very woozy and shakey. The consultant was shocked she hadn't brought anyone to drive her.

I would probably get him to drive you and if you are OK then go to work. Try not to worry too much, aren't the ones on the face usually the non melanoma cancers but best to remove before they spread too much across the skin.

My DS had local on face and I took him back to school after.

You'll be fine afterwards but I'd take the offer of a lift and putting my feet up for the day if I were you

I had one on my boob a few years back and was fine. Didn't think I wouldn't be, as a local is just that - local and only affects that specific area. How you react may be different I suppose. I had just had a baby and was poorly anyway but it wasn't that big a deal - just a big needle taking a few samples. Your face may well be different though. Good luck.xx

Are you sure that's a local anaesthetic and not sedation?

Generals and sedation you can't drive after, never heard of that for a local anaesthetic

If you're scared then let your husband drive you there and then on to work if you still feel like it.

I had a lletz and biopsy on my cervix a couple years ago under local. I had no one to drive me there & back so had to do it myself. I was fine, and I'm the type who faints when having needles. Although I seem to have toughened up a bit since having kids!

I had [quite a sizable] one taken from my back a while ago, OP. It was super easy. I drove there and back. Local anaesthetic, surgery, stitches, and half an hour later I was good to go. Biopsy involved sending it to a lab and waiting a few weeks.

If it's on your face you may not feel up to driving as if it is anything like the dentist it can make quite a bit of your face numb for a while, is it near your eyes, it may feel a bit odd.

I had a mole removed and drove home fine. And went back to work the next day (mole removal was mid afternoon). Only worry was that it was quite a big scar which 'pulled' quite a bit making me feel slightly queasy.

Have no idea why you would need to rest after.

Local anaesthetic doesn't make you woozy.

You might feel sorry for yourself and enjoy him making a fuss but it won't disable you from driving.
