Well I don't know if I'm brave enough for this but, today a really hot day DD yr 7 went on a school trip. It was a walking trip, up hills etc for geography. They didn't have to wear school uniform but old clothes they didn't mind spoiling, DD wore a white t shirt grey leggings and a white cap. Lots of her friends were in black jeans and black tops one girl even had a black cardi on. Also DD had to give her sun block out to loads of her friends who were getting sunburn, why we're so many of the children so unprepared for the weather?

pax I would gently suggest that if your child is NT then a little more control over his clothes/packing previously and/or being allowed to learn from his mistakes in the past would have made him much better at packing at 14! Obviously, not quite the same if he has learning difficulties that mean he isn't operating as an NT 14 year old.

My older three 9, 11 and 12 all pack for themselves. All make the occasional error, but no huge problems and they learn not to do it again. Certainly, no problems that have meant I've had to pack for them until they were 15.

Child in question is no longer 15 and can now pack and dress Grin

And yes, he did pack aged 9, but I checked. At 14, I did not, result was no pants but a denim glut. So I went back to checking for a while. Same for thin coat in winter, didn't want another day out with a child not mature enough to put up with being cold whilst already being mature enough for an acute sense of style, hence the ill-thought out hoodie.

All's well that ends well then! Grin
