I'm all out of inspiration here. The grind is getting us all down, interspersed with terrorist attacks, but we shall overcome. In the meantime, there's gin and camaraderie.

That's old news. Is he still going on about it? Persisting with it?

Lweji · 22/06/2017 11:15

On a funny note: is she? Isn't she?

If you force the Queen to miss Ascot, don't be surprised if she turns up in a giant EU hat

"Was it an accident, this nakedly pro-Brussels bonnet? One suspects we will never know the truth, but given one commenter on the Daily Mail website was sufficiently enraged to describe the Queen herself as a “left liberal luvvie traitor!!!” we probably do not need to"

BiglyBadgers · 22/06/2017 11:26

Can the queen be a traitor (leaving aside the idea that the reigning hereditary monarch and head of the Church could ever be described as left, liberal or a luvvie)? Confused

Natsku · 22/06/2017 12:51

Grin oh I do hope her outfit was on purpose

cozietoesie · 22/06/2017 13:21

My personal guess is that she decided, given the heat, her time of life - and the circumstances - that she wouldn't wear a heavy crown and all the paraphernalia.

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 22/06/2017 13:25

I don't know about the provenance of this but it's horrifying if true. I'm genuinely shocked that this is happening. Gilead looms closer:

apparently it was because it was too soon after the Trooping of the Colour for full on pomp. Royals have form for wearing clothes with significance for e.g. trips to Wales or Scotland or Welsh guards or whatever. doubt she just chucks on whatever she's left on the floor the previous night.

Former Homeland Security Advisor Jeh Johnson is latest top intelligence official to state there was no grand scheme between Trump & Russia.

By the way, if Russia was working so hard on the 2016 Election, it all took place during the Obama Admin. Why didn't they stop them?

cozietoesie · 22/06/2017 14:59

Ah. You Know Who (or the spectre thereof) must have visited his sleeping chamber last night. Smile

cozietoesie · 22/06/2017 15:19

So much for lifetime bans. A Beast piece.

Appointee is still lobbyist?

Lweji · 22/06/2017 15:25

They did intervene and denounced it... when they noticed it.

Except that GOP and Trump kept denying it and didn't support Obama on efforts to put a stop to it.

Lweji · 22/06/2017 15:26

Appointee is still lobbyist?

It must be one of those waivers that hasn't been publicly shown. For some reason.

But "drain the swamp".

AcrossthePond55 · 22/06/2017 15:27

Jeh Johnson said no such thing. He said there was definitely interference, but demurred in saying whether or not Trump or his people had anything to do with it.

Trump likes to equate any 'non-answer' to any particular question he wants to be interpreted in a particular way as saying 'yes' or 'no' to fit his needs. Typical shady business practice from a shady businessman; "I didn't SAY there were problems when you asked. I simply didn't answer the question".

I certainly hope the Democrats do not force Nancy P out. That would be very bad for the Republican Party - and please let Cryin' Chuck stay!

There's no tapes!!!!

He was bluffing us.

Orlantina · 22/06/2017 18:16

So if there are no tapes, what was the point behind saying Comey had better hope there are no tapes of conversations?

That sounded like a threat...

BiglyBadgers · 22/06/2017 18:18

I know this may not seem directly relevent, but many many threads ago we talked a lot about social media and bubbles and stuff. This article is really worth a read if you like that sort of thing and certainly reflects my own experience of using social media for news. I use a much larger number and range of news sources through Twitter than I ever did before. I am sure I can't be alone in this. Anyway, thought you guys might find it interesting

Using social media appears to diversify your news diet, not narrow it

BiglyBadgers · 22/06/2017 18:21

I never believed there were any tapes orlantina. You are assuming he has a point in mind when he says something. He does not. He just says the first thing that pops into his head with no consideration of the consequences or whether it has any grounding in reality. I suggest you consider everything he has says as if it had been said by an angry toddler. That is about the logic we are looking at here.

7Days · 22/06/2017 18:28

I liken that ti standing in a shop queue reading the headlines on the news stand.
I wonder how much the headlines influence the casual viewer, and how does that tanslate into buying a particular paper/ clicking through.

Orlantina · 22/06/2017 18:33

So Trump's tweets speak for themselves.

Apparently.
