I'm all out of inspiration here. The grind is getting us all down, interspersed with terrorist attacks, but we shall overcome. In the meantime, there's gin and camaraderie.

The GA 6 loss doesn't get me down. It was closer than anyone would have thought possible a year ago.

Marathon, not a sprint. And it will keep us on our toes for 2018. No complacency allowed!!

Persistence will pay off.

cozietoesie · 21/06/2017 14:05

It got me down for a short time - but not permanently. (But then I wasn't keen on Ossoff.)

Persistence is necessary - it will pay off as you said.

From that article about bots:

"In every country, it said, civil society groups struggled to protect themselves against misinformation campaigns. And in authoritarian countries, it added, social media was one of the key ways the authorities had tried to retain control during political crises.
...
"Computational propaganda has been particularly prevalent in Ukraine, the research suggests.
...
"The typical way this worked, it explained, was that a message would be placed in an online news outlet or blog's article...These would then be spread on social media via automated accounts and potentially picked up in turn by 'opinion leaders', with large followings of their own. With enough attention, the message would ultimately be picked up by mainstream media, including TV channels."

cozietoesie · 21/06/2017 14:18

Social media but also, I think, a degree of personal lassitude? After all, most people still have electricity and enough food, youngsters are still getting married etc etc. People think to themselves 'Oh well, the sky isn't falling......we're OK.'

cozietoesie · 21/06/2017 14:31

And spare a thought for Kim Jeong Suk. Last night's result means that she doesn't have to head for the bunker. Yet.

Lweji · 21/06/2017 14:59

Sorry, what did I miss? Kim Jeong Suk?

cozietoesie · 21/06/2017 15:38

The current First Lady of South Korea.

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 21/06/2017 15:43

Because he'd have had to start a war to distract everyone from the "breaking of the dam"? I'm too hot and bothered to even begin to parse subtleties so could be entirely mistaken!

Lawks-a-mussy, Pain. Such cynicism! Grin

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 21/06/2017 16:09

Stamped through me like a stick of rock!

Lweji · 21/06/2017 16:11

Wikipedia says it's Kim Jung-sook

You also have Kim Jong-suk (totally different!) who was Lil'Kim's grandmother (so, North Korea).

Kim Jeong-suk doesn't seem to exist (in English)

You can understand my confusion. Grin

cozietoesie · 21/06/2017 16:22

Yes indeed I can, Lweji. Smile (She keeps a low profile which doesn't help you.)

lionheart · 21/06/2017 16:30

Here is something cheery from Georgia and it is not Sally Yates Smile:

Here you all are! I lost you for a while there!

Lweji · 21/06/2017 16:34

The Anthony Bourdain of treason. Grin

Democrats don't know how to scare people.

cozietoesie · 21/06/2017 16:45

Thanks, Lweji. Smile

I see by the way that Senator Preet Bharara has also been keeping a low profile. Smile

cozietoesie · 21/06/2017 17:50

Tillerson and Mattis to host rare news conference today. An Examiner piece.

North Korea on the table

This cannot be good news...Sad

US gun laws: Colorado to arm teachers in classrooms
www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-40353408

cozietoesie · 21/06/2017 18:52

Indeed. There will be fewer products on supermarket shelves.

Lweji · 21/06/2017 18:57

Colorado to arm teachers in classrooms

I'd be considering home schooling.

cozietoesie · 21/06/2017 18:59

Unfortunately, Lweji, many homes are weaponised also. Americans have this odd 'thing' about guns.

catgirl1976 · 21/06/2017 19:26

Place marking. A little late but I've been working bigly. No golfing.

lionheart · 21/06/2017 19:31

I'm supposed to be but persistence is distracting ... Smile

cozietoesie · 21/06/2017 20:24

Where's your DBro at the moment, catgirl?
