I'm all out of inspiration here. The grind is getting us all down, interspersed with terrorist attacks, but we shall overcome. In the meantime, there's gin and camaraderie.

Shame about Ossof (assuming he does lose). It's becoming a theme of close seconds for Democrats. They need to find the right message for voters.

Still, a strong wake up call for GOP.

More indications that Flynn has surrendered:

Win or lose, Democrats have got it covered.
The art of the spin.

BiglyBadgers · 21/06/2017 08:20

Just heard Ossoff didn't quite makes win, but it was always amazingly unlikely. This seat should have been a walk in the park for GOP and it turned into a massive fight. This is one of those situations when not all losing is equal. Considering the majority the republicans had before in Georgia I imagine there are a few republicans without such big leads who are feeling a tad uncomfortable this morning.

Stuffofawesome · 21/06/2017 08:59

Thanks Lweji

lionheart · 21/06/2017 09:03

Yes, it's quite a swing. There will always be a hardcore who vote Republican no matter what or who like Trump's version of dystopia.

cozietoesie · 21/06/2017 11:35

Well that's a bit of a bummer - especially for the party workers - but not entirely unexpected.

Lweji · 21/06/2017 11:48

I just wonder how justified they feel in spending millions on this race.

Surely they need better strategies, not simply throwing money at it. But people haven't felt the consequences of Trumpdon´tcare yet.

cozietoesie · 21/06/2017 11:51

It happens - although that amount of money was pretty dreadful.

cozietoesie · 21/06/2017 12:12

But to answer your second point - Yes. They do in my view. It's clearly not enough to be 'anti' something no matter how justified that antipathy is. You have to set out a vision of going forward based upon good candidates. (I fear that I never found Ossoff convincing.)

The Queen’s speech has given a further indication that Donald Trump’s planned state visit to the UK has been put on hold, after the monarch did not mention it in her address.

The speech usually mentions any state visits planned for the duration of the parliament. Speaking on Wednesday, the Queen said she and Prince Philip “look forward to welcoming their majesties King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain on a state visit in July”.

However, it did not mention the visit of Trump, initially planned for this summer after Theresa May invited him on behalf of the Queen when she visited the US president in Washington DC in January, shortly after he took office.

cozietoesie · 21/06/2017 13:12

Have some Gin, take a day or two to reflect and then go back to persisting, lion. Wink Think of this as a slow burn. Smile

lionheart · 21/06/2017 13:19

Okay, the gin will do the trick but I might still knit the hat. Smile
